So beautiful what humans can create with just wooden and brass instruments combined with their heavenly human voices...perfection and amazement listening and watching these great and talented people re-living.and creating Bachs amazing music.....i cant afford to watch these events live so am very grateful for youtube and others who upload and make it possible to see and hear such lovely living and breathing music alive on my pc screen and in my headphones....thank you..

In the present zeitgeist of secular Europe and Dawkin's atheist Britain, never has there been a greater time when such glorious music -- whether the elevating masses of Bach, Bruckner, Schubert (why, even St.Luke Passion of Penderecki!) etc. -- needs to be played and broadcast ever so often, and to a wider audience, so as to fulfil the urgent need of reminding them of their rich spiritual tradition and the civilizing influence of Christianity.
The evidence here that women can equally connect to the spiritual node (witness the highly spirited conductor) no less than a Koopman, Harnoncourt, Rilling, Gardiner et al. is good enough for Vatican to consider admitting women to the priesthood. sd goh (malaysia)
Having a vivacious, nay, voluptuous looking conductor can inspire the choir and orchestra to perform with the joie de vivre often missing in some lack-lustre ensembles....JS Bach after all was not only a savant of God but was also quite a randy character evident by the numerous offspring he sired. sd goh (malaysia)
iopie13, the conductor is Irina Bogdanovich: look for her name on Google. She is a remarkable musician and obviously an exceptionnal choir leader. It seems obviously to be fun to sing under her direction.
I can only hope this ensemble becomes more well-known in the future. They can certainly rival many of the more widely recorded groups out there. Well done!
Actually one of the more satisfying recordings of this work on YouTube. The orchestra is really good, and the choir is good enough. I love their enthusiasm and seriousness.
It's h-moll in Deutsch (German) and B-minor in English. Same thing.
It's a very good rendering of this wonderful work in any language.
Some would say this is the most glorious work in all of classical music. I would count myself among them.
The chorus being composed of young people, the vocals lack some of the "gravitas" that lder singers would have given it, but I rather like the purity an d innocence that the young singers bring to the work. That's just my opinion.

I'm trying to guess why almost ALL girls has cute - and small - noses.
Maybe polish genetic.
Btw, some are VERY lovely (specially altos and sopranos II).
I'm not against sopranos I, but i prefer low pitches, tho.
Ma favs: that trio at 2:15 . Absolutely cute. Does someone knows that girls?
XOXO
