  • hey man i know quite a bit about m3's but have a question about the seats that are on it.. its a 1997 bmw m3 e36 coupe and does not have the bmw stripes on the seats.. can you help me out?

  • You need to update your video since we've now discovered that you can indeed replace the control arm ball joints. ;)

  • @drainfreaksdotnet - correct, some people have figured out that you can in fact replace the ball joints and re-use the control arms. It's good to look in to from a financial standpoint, but everything has its pros and cons. I went with new Lemforder LCA's on mine when I replaced them.

Anyways, maybe i'll do up an annotation to insert. If you have a link with a good forum thread or other resource that explains it, i'm all ears. Thanks for the reply.

  • man, u know so well about this car! I envy You! :D i just finished saving up and ready to get one of this E36, a two door, estoril blue. Many many many thanks for your highly informative video! Sixteen Thumbs UP !

  • I'm buying M3E46 and I would like yo know if the ball jointr eplaceable or not ?

  • Love these vids I was wandering though, does the S52 motor have VANOS?

  • @Qnickel27 - Yes, the S52 has single VANOS, which operates on the intake cam.

  • @fiveightandten @fiveightandten without sounding really dumb them 6 things right beside the engine there them's the cylinders right?? my e46 330d has a cover you cn't see anything and i'v never botherd removing it lol take a look at my youtube channel it's my main pic it's a uk version love the e36 m3's my mate has 1 its like a dark purple tho but looks amazing

  • @Mr330d - If you're referring to the 6 cylinder looking things you see to the right of the engine cover, that's the intake manifold. It feeds air into the cylinders, which are inside the engine, and thus not visible without disassembling it.

  • @fiveightandten damn i sounded stupid there. :( just looked to me like they where the 6 cylinders haha oops you can't even see the intake manifold on the e46 330d but it sounds amazing on tick over it has a straight through exhaust on it and a re-mapp to 246bhp and 360 lb-ft torque bmw = "ultimate driving machine"

  • @fiveightandten Is this a good first car?

  • lookin in to buy one in the summer what year is yours not sure if i should get the coupe or sedan

  • @minirobinho10 - Mine is a '98. Sedan and coupe are VERY similar. Performance is identical. The body lines are obviously slightly different. But they're both great cars and you can't go wrong either way.

  • @fiveightandten thanks i appreciate it

  • Everyone should make videos like that for all sorts of cars. Thanks for making this video.

  • yea when he says eats tires for breakfast he is not lieing

  • just wire in some efans or something

  • hey i have a question about my e36 325i, im having an electrical problem, every single one of my lights flash, as if they are going to turn of, i want to know if its just the bulbs, or some wires, the only ones that dont flash are my low beam lights but thats because i did an hid conversion, please respond that problem is worrying me alot, i only know about mechanical stuff, and not much about electrical, your help will be greatly appreciated! thank you

  • Great videos. Thanks for taking the time. Its well appreciated.

  • hahaha i love these videos "well, the ball joints are shot on it kid" "and they're not that cheap, it's a BMW." this is my second time through thanks man

  • Hey what happened to those 1st reviews u did when you were on like the side of the road on a bright day i thought that was a cool review also but ur great at these review im getting a E36 M3 in December ive loved the E36 M3 scince 2nd grade

  • Thanks man, glad the videos could help out. The first set of reviews had WAY too many haters posting responses. I have a real dry sense of humor and made a few jokes in there that flew right by most people. It became a part time job just weeding through the negative comments from people that troll youtube to talk trash.

Maybe i'll do up another one at some point.

  • thats the only thing with mechanics. they are not helath and safefty concieous - use axel stands not the jack! if the jack gives then your fooked!

  • Good points about the suspension. I had my ball joint go bad in the rear and my tire cupped and wore unevenly. If the ball join goes in the rear, you'll hear a clunk over rough roads.

  • yeah also if you let your shock absorbers wear out you'll suffer quicker ball joint probs

  • ummmmmm how long can the engine last like in miles on a m3? and are the maintanance costs high?do u think 9000$ for 99,000 miles is a good price for a 99m3 coupe?

  • Put it this way, if you service an e36 euro M3 evo - and run it on mobil one or Elf fuel (the correct grade obviously) and use decent sparks and everything BMW reccomends the engine goes on and on and on.

Vanos is sometimes an issue - but I never bolt the hell out of mine while it's cold and drive it sensibly on super unleaded!

  • (Around 5 minutes)

I hope you daaaaaaanceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I hopeeeee youuuuuuu danceeeeeeeee. I hope you danceeeeeeeeeee....I hopeeee youuuuu danceeeeee!"

Seriously though, EXCELLENT EXCELLENT video. You should receive a medal.

  • agreed

  • i have overheated my m3 motor it wasnt fun trying to fix it and the motor does still sound kinda funky idealing but im still in the process of fixing it

  • you kinda sound like double R from kisw 99.9 hah

    very detailed explanation, great work.

  • steering power leek sounds formiliar!!

and something else is the transmision of a us m3 difrent that a euro??

  • In the US both the 3.0 and 3.2 use the 5 speed ZF gearbox. Over here in the UK the 3.0 uses the 5 speed ZF but our 3.2 uses a 6 speed Getrag. 6 Speed SMG I was also avalible on the 3.2 Evo here, but it's pretty shit, goes wrong a lot! To be honest our 3.0 S50B30 with the 5 speed is the one to have - strongest gearbox and most reliable engine - no vanos issues... and 286bhp is enough!

  • sweet

  • cool video
