Where I'm from, a bungalow is one-and-a-half stories, they can have basements or not. The upper floor is only a half because the sloping roof takes up half the space. Cape Cods are described similarly, but the outside appearance and roof incline define the difference. I've also heard of one-and-a-half story ranch homes, but I don't know how that would be different from a colonial. Maybe I'll have to do some Wiki research :~)

My step mother has a country mansion (she earns over £300k+ a year) it's about 1.5 acres by 3 acres and has about 4.5 acres by 2.25 acres of 'garden' or 'land' attached. It is all one floor with quite high ceilings (about 18 feet up) and one part (about 1/3) has a second story with a game room and study So I guess you could call her mansion a rather large semi-bungalo lol.
