Obaid Karki means a translation is not even remotely giving justice to the Noble Qur'an. True justice would be to learn arabic and understand the Qur'an through arabic and not read a translation of the Noble Qur'an.

No I'm not saying we should not read translations or something. I'm talking about laymens who don't have any knowledge of the arabic language or islamic sciences. Them just reading a translation of the Qur'an won't equal exactly what Allah is telling us, it will only give laymen people the closest attempt at understanding it.

You seem like a nice fellow, so I'll keep this civil. As far as the Gospel is concerned, we Christians are instructed to go out INTO the worls and preach the Gospel to ALL NATIONS. This ENTAILS translation. Also, the Old Testament Quotes used in the New testament are almost exclusively from the Septuagint, or GREEK translation of the Old Testament. You are assuming that OUR God places the same emphasis on language as your god. I don't think you could really back that up.

I am Jewish but was Muslim for 7 years. The Quran clearly mentions that we are people of the book and we were taught that you had to first understand Judaism to be a muslim. This was taught to me in Mecca where I lived for 6 years. You must read the torat and the Injil and you may not insstruct people to not read these. Let me ask you something, who is the massih and who is coming to get you at the end of the world Isa Yes? So I think is is good for you to read injil and torat as this helps

My belief is the words were written by people inspired by the divine. The translations into English are done by those with their own perspective and their own interpretations. To be educated in the languages in which the the originals and respective copies were written would certainly give you a clearer understanding. A word can have many equivalents in other languages, which makes it more or less the understanding of the transcribers views.
