This is my favourite Vanity track of all time. I lived in LA when she was on the scene I now live back in London where I was born and it saddens me that a lot of brtish people don't remember her BUT you and I and many others do.

I love this song but it was sad too. Didn'y know it was about Prince which makes it even sadder. I was obsessed with her and I was gay too so it wasn't about sex I felt something really deep about her, that she was quite etheral. This track is amazing.

I never understood the Marilyn thing either. I'm not that fascinated by tragedy but Prince was weirder back then and was alwasy trying to 'create' sex symbols with his women. I cant think of anyone that comes close to beating her looks. She was so beautiful.

Valerie is her true self. I always thought 'Samuelle' was Prince since Vanity wrote the lyrics to this song. If you listen to the song its quite sad from that perspective. You are so right on point! I didn't know Prince was into MM but this is such an awesome song. The album was filled with lyrics that screamed volumes of her struggles with her good and evil sides. I still love this stuff. She was so under rated!
