I run Dunlop MX-71's front and rear with IRC heavy duty tubes and the occasional foam insert for racing. I've never had a flat with this setup. I run 15.5 psi for Tour of Idaho type riding and about 12 - 13 psi for desert racing.
Good on ya. I'm not so sure I'd particularly want to climb out to the west on a 950 AV. It was plenty exciting on the 450X. I stalled it twice and knocked it out of gear once. Pretty high gearing (3.5) but not overly so. It's just steep and rock-strewn - and getting progressively worse. It was seriously more deteriorated this time than the last time I was there in July '10.
I dropped through there on my 950A last year ~ it was quite a handful getting back out of the west side. Our group camps down in the Indian Hot Springs each year during the winter months (when the snow isn't sticking) ~ makes for a nice weekend to get away.
