I have been listening to this band since I was a sophmore in H.S and that was in 1977, they were my favorite band then, and after listening to this live version they still fucking rockkkkkk, no two ways about it can any band get close to these guys in the present days of rock? I think NOT!

Pretty sure Jon's singing equals some sort of praying for the betterment of all people everywhere. Sometimes he chokes up even.
Amazing performance! The 'recipe' for the music is written, fortunately. This music will probably proceed through history similar to Mozart. 300 years from now one will probably be hearing the YES tunes. I sure hope so.

2004. I was at work when my friend from Long Island called me. "Hey. I saw YES play at the Madison last night."
I was surprised because she's a middle of the road rock fan who never talked about prog rock.
"You won't believe what happened," she continued. "YES got a 10 minute standing ovation after they played And You And I."
Well, I've finally had the chance to hear that version here and I felt to the floor in ectasy. This is Rick and Jon at their freaking best. What a goodbye that was!!!

@SilentWingsOfFreedom Yeah I know that! I'm a huge Wakeman fan. It's just that I can't actually see anyone on stage playing the piano part. I know both Anderson and White also play keys but White is busy and JA is nowhere near one, and Wakeman's left hand is down by his side.
Amazing how they have gradually refined this song over the years. Like a great wine, this rendition has matured from an original masterpiece into a sublime meditation. Thank you Jon, Steve, Chris, Rick and Alan for the many years of inspired music.
steve howe has always played standard tuning with his guitars and that makes for some pretty intricate songs! the way I like it! I love challenges learning songs like that...I cant do simple..
This song was the highlight of last night's performance at the Apollo Manchester. Completely over the top and hugely enjoyable. Last seen by me at the Caley Edinburgh 40 years ago. Glad to see them growing old disgracefully.

On the eve of wood stock anniversity 30th maybe??Yes was in Raleigh, NC. Jon, Rick, Allen ,Steve, Chris, what a night.finished with long version of awaken.Jon wore all white and looked like, well ,you fill in the blank.no one will ever match the one.I hope we will see U again.
I've been a YES head since my first concert with them in 1972, Close To The Edge tour (Eagles were the back-up band). Since then, I've seen them 17 times, and must say that this piece was played in every one. And every one of them have been just "Slightly" different when they play it. It was this tune that totally mesmerized me and I've been a fan ever since...
There is a book written about the band called "YES...But what does it mean?" Quite interesting and informative of the meaning of the lyrics and musical passages...Especially the early albums that many listeners of that time were drawn to:::Close to the edge...TFTO.... RELAYER. If you're into the best progressive band in history...this is great reading
This song is practically perfect. To get the best version you need to listen to the studio production on Close to the Edge. Going to see them in a couple of weeks :)
@fanofprotopic Anderson has stated in many interviews that many of his lyrics don't make literal sense because he often used words simply for their sound and how they flowed, not for their meaning. Certainly not true in all cases, but in more then a couple.
Dream Theater's 'Octavarium' is very remeniscant of this, only a little 'harder' and more rythmically driven. Of Course, Yes is one of Dream theater's big influences, so that makes sense. Look it up :)
the aural harmonic structure of this performance exceeds the bounds of my mental desire as I drift along on a cloud of marshmallows through a sea of space and time.
Transendental music. Of course I love all they're old stuff. But my son was born to they're 2001 album magnification. Its one of my favorite albums. Thats pretty awesome that after more than 30 years theyre still finding ways to eccentuate every album with precise variation while delivering a live show as equally tended as they're album experience. Cant say enough about these guys. Anderson, Wakeman, White, Squire, and Howe.YES.

An albino (Rick), a mosquito (Steve), my libido (Jon).......YEAH!
Steve is a mosquito 'cause he has sucked every last breathing moment outta the name "YES". Too bad Bodast got screwed over so bad Steve and Chris.
If you count orchestral versions, Yes has had 349 members since '68.
Bill B. is the King of Yes, though Jon and Chris and whoever shares the name ownership. Picture stve with carpal tunnel syndrome. It'd be like Kurt Cobain on Adderall. Chris is bloated on Bass Ale. Alan and Yoko!
@BooeyHogue Jon Anderson will sacrifice clarity to maintain rhythm and rhyme. That's why meaning sometimes gets lost, but he retains that overall feeling of an ecstatic love song.
One of their best musically, but the lyrics are obscure, possibly pretentious. I'm either not as intelligent as I thought or the emperor is wearing no clothes.
@BooeyHogue I've always thought of the lyrics in this song as word-play describing a sense of oneness with the natural world and/or higher power. "Seeds of life with you..." Honestly, the whole song can be lyrically wrapped up in the first two lines for me. "A man conceived a moment's answers to the dream, staying (with) the flowers daily, sensing all the themes." The actual feeling is hard to describe. Yes and Jon wrote something that touches on it pretty well, I think.
Beautiful, incredible, brilliant and gem like. This is what live music should be. It sounds as good as it did in the 70's. I am so glad that I have been able to follow their music for so many years.
Jon has chronic ahsma..not a good thing for a singer...yet he manages to transcend his disease to enlighten us with his beautiful alto voice and words. He is a true arranger and vocalist. God bless him. We are lucky to hear his songs.
I bought the Live at Montreux 2003 DVD to hear it as recorded. Not a waste of money. Buy it and support the band. They are so worth it! They are real.
someone amazing shared this song with me i will never forget her.. ever !its one heartbreaker of a tale.. this cant help listening to it, its adorable like her ..it brings me to tears just thinking about the melody.
I remember that John Deacon, the Queen's basist said that his favorite group was Yes and his favorite basist is Chris Squir sometime in late '70s. The Chorus by Yes obviously influences that of Queen in the early days. a comment from Tokyo.
I have been listening to this band since I was a sophmore in H.S and that was in 1977, they were my favorite band then, and after listening to this live version they still fucking rockkkkkk, no two ways about it can any band get close to these guys in the present days of rock? I think NOT!

I remember that John Deacon, the Queen's basist said that his favorite group was Yes and his favorite basist is Chris Squir sometime in late '70s. The Chorus by Yes obviously influences that of Queen in the early days. a comment from Tokyo.
