  • I have been listening to this band since I was a sophmore in H.S and that was in 1977, they were my favorite band then, and after listening to this live version they still fucking rockkkkkk, no two ways about it can any band get close to these guys in the present days of rock? I think NOT!

  • I'm sorry if doesn't move you that's your problem not the musics

  • Yes is Yes Forever ...

  • tempo!!!

  • I lost my words... so great!

  • you no....ok there good

  • Yes is Yes forever

  • I love this band. One of greatest of our lives!

  • Gato Azul ,essa é pra você!! Quero te amar muito amanhã e sempre!!

  • It doesn't get any better than that

  • beautiful es?

  • i like this song lots

  • Awesome , there still so good !

  • LIKE FINE WINE

  • Pretty sure Jon's singing equals some sort of praying for the betterment of all people everywhere. Sometimes he chokes up even.

Amazing performance! The 'recipe' for the music is written, fortunately. This music will probably proceed through history similar to Mozart. 300 years from now one will probably be hearing the YES tunes. I sure hope so.

  • and while we agree this is as good as live music, or any music gets for that matter ..let's not forget the film crew, editors and audio enginears ...they all did very well. Fantastic job, mates

  • Is this song and other songs from this concert or tour released as a dvd?

  • Squires counter vocals are just perfect at 02:38, you can see that he is puting everything in it!

  • Gives me tingles .Brilliant memories.Best group ever. Thanks for posting

  • My favorite song of all time.

  • I am sure that the 16 people who disliked this video simply hit the wrong button

  • Yes is on a level of music that few bands ever reach. Nice to see them together again, and again...they haven't lost their touch.

  • 2004. I was at work when my friend from Long Island called me. "Hey. I saw YES play at the Madison last night."

I was surprised because she's a middle of the road rock fan who never talked about prog rock.

"You won't believe what happened," she continued. "YES got a 10 minute standing ovation after they played And You And I."

Well, I've finally had the chance to hear that version here and I felt to the floor in ectasy. This is Rick and Jon at their freaking best. What a goodbye that was!!!

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr YES HELPS ME BELEIVE IN THE HUMAN RACE! I will always love their music and the feelings it brings to me.

  • I used to listen to my older brother back in the late 70s playing this song behind closed doors with his friends. I was never allowed into these private jamming sessions, but I listened to them intently. The wonderful melody of this song stuck in my memory and it'sbeen there since then. Wonderful song!

  • I've been a fan since the early 1970's and they are fantastic live. Thanks for sharing this from Montreux!

  • Never have I head something so beautiful as this rendition of this song. Absolutely wonderful.

  • oh my god.... wonderful time was this, i remember all my friends and brothers, listening to yes, elp, genesis, jethro tull..... drinking beer, smoking grass.... some study as well... i would give anything to live that again....

  • @chorizoalegre I feel the same as you Chorizoalegre - what a wonderful time I had at EACH Yes concert I attended. You need not worry - we will have them for the rest of our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MASTERPIECE des MASTERPIECES du 20ème siècle !

Souvent copiés mais jamais égalé, YES est et restera le groupe référence du rock prog !

  • i like brufords minemalist drums more, on this specific track. i love this song with all my heart!

  • this song is featured in movie Apollo 18 :D Long Life to Classic Yes!!!!!

  • Great song, great band - BUT....who is playing the piano while Rick solos on the Moog at 7:45?

  • @slipperbloke Probably pre-recorded

  • @slipperbloke Rick is known to play more than one keyboard at a time, my friend! ;)

  • @SilentWingsOfFreedom Yeah I know that! I'm a huge Wakeman fan. It's just that I can't actually see anyone on stage playing the piano part. I know both Anderson and White also play keys but White is busy and JA is nowhere near one, and Wakeman's left hand is down by his side.

  • @slipperbloke Hmmmm, rather odd.

  • @slipperbloke Rick normaly uses the spare hand for eating a lamb biriani.

  • Amazing how they have gradually refined this song over the years. Like a great wine, this rendition has matured from an original masterpiece into a sublime meditation. Thank you Jon, Steve, Chris, Rick and Alan for the many years of inspired music.

  • @axe2grind911 Don't forget Bill Bruford...

  • Every time I listen to Yes i cry a little....There will never be any music as beautiful as Yes' because Yes has already reached the climax of music.

  • @GUFFAWBAND I just realized my comment was wrong. Yes hasn't reached the climax of music....Yes is the climax of music

  • @GUFFAWBAND Very well said Guffawband!

  • kids don't know what it's like to hear musicians who are all excellent together in a band

  • ohhhhhhhhh

  • Thank you ! The best !! Perfection !!

  • RV SAID IT

  • steve howe has always played standard tuning with his guitars and that makes for some pretty intricate songs! the way I like it! I love challenges learning songs like that...I cant do simple..

  • Wow. And I should know.

  • That harmonica is awesome!

  • Does any one know what Steve's playing at 8:35?

  • @yankeesstink27 a lap steel guitar

  • yes parmi les groupes le plus perfectionniste du monde gloire à ces musiciens 10 sur 10 !

  • maravilloso

    ojala vinieran a argentina

  • maravilloso

  • Wish there was a live version from the boxed set of Trevor doing this song. His guitar solo isn't better, just different and good.

  • @RADicalDownloads1 There is on the YesYears boxed set.

  • Not exactly the best looking rockers out there...

  • I want to slap Squire for that harmonica insertion every time I hear it. Uncalled for,,,,

  • @studentjohn36 I've always thought it drastically improved the song.

  • perfection!

  • Jon is so fantastic. Miss him in the line-up.

  • Completly Fantastic!

  • I typed in Yes and got that gay-ass LMFAO group. Is that shit whats popular today?

  • this song is the few ones that blew my head off every time i heard it !!!!!!

  • Pelle d'oca!

  • Phantastisch:-)

  • i saw different versions of this song, this is the one of the best one

    .

  • 4:42 to 4:47 proof of extraterrestrial presence or just a good exercise regime. Please watch for flexibility of neck at 4:46 to 4:47

God bless all the members of Yes and all the people living in the world today and who will arrive in the future.

  • Damn it took my youtube downloader 6secs to down load this song on to MY harddrive.....I better check out pcmatic.com................

  • I Remember sitting on my mushroom , smoking weeties, in my underwear playin with you girls boobs while you were on vacation !

  • WELL YOUTUBE KILLED mtv BUT IT WAS REALLY ALREADY DEAD ! KILLED BY MIKE JACKSON AND POL-CORECTNESS & THE RAPPERS

  • This song was the highlight of last night's performance at the Apollo Manchester. Completely over the top and hugely enjoyable. Last seen by me at the Caley Edinburgh 40 years ago. Glad to see them growing old disgracefully.

  • @Tamsburd I was at the Manchester gig too, it was absolutely fantastic.

  • YES at its best.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Soberbo!!

  • I like this song and THE YES.

  • one of the best concerts in my life!!!! @ 54, I remember as if it were yesterday. Believe it!!! as always, breathless.

  • nous sommes du soleil, we love when we play! :)

  • Still gives me the shivers....very nice

  • going to see yes in concert tonight in Sheffield - so excited!!

  • Absolutely brilliant performance

  • One of my favorite, if not my favorite Yes song...a beautiful song...

  • 2497 to 14, that's gotta be one of the highest ratios of likes to dislikes on here

  • Superb!

  • I really don't understand this piece of music not getting in deep. It reminds me of my high school days and I still try to convince people how truly great it is. Either you get it or you don't, I guess.

  • I lOVE YESSS......best concerts ever!

  • ahhhhh mozart

  • Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer , None better , and you'll never seen anything even close again

  • Yes, yes indeed!

  • What the fuck is that Jock on about.

  • On the eve of wood stock anniversity 30th maybe??Yes was in Raleigh, NC. Jon, Rick, Allen ,Steve, Chris, what a night.finished with long version of awaken.Jon wore all white and looked like, well ,you fill in the blank.no one will ever match the one.I hope we will see U again.

  • What a fantastic band, I have seen them live in Cardiff back in the nineties, and you came away completely blown away by their brilliance!

  • I LOVE this song, but the lyrics look just like random words put together. ;-)

  • Klasse !!! :-)

  • I've been a YES head since my first concert with them in 1972, Close To The Edge tour (Eagles were the back-up band). Since then, I've seen them 17 times, and must say that this piece was played in every one. And every one of them have been just "Slightly" different when they play it. It was this tune that totally mesmerized me and I've been a fan ever since...

  • @RVMielo me too, just wish i knew more good ones!

  • @RVMielo me too hun......this tune is always special.....x

  • There is a book written about the band called "YES...But what does it mean?" Quite interesting and informative of the meaning of the lyrics and musical passages...Especially the early albums that many listeners of that time were drawn to:::Close to the edge...TFTO.... RELAYER. If you're into the best progressive band in history...this is great reading

  • Wow, that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up....lol. Stunning performance from everyone ;o)

  • This song is practically perfect. To get the best version you need to listen to the studio production on Close to the Edge. Going to see them in a couple of weeks :)

  • @rushzzzz2112 Going to see whom...NotYES or Anderson/Wakeman?

  • I saw Yes at least 6 times and It was more then a concert it was a spiritual experience

  • This is not music.. It's way beyond that... This is what we should call ENERGY....!!!

  • U had to be there! It is still just like yesterday! Stays with you forever...and after

all this time.............it is an never ending energy~

  • one magnificent piece of music, but I wonder if even Anderson understands what the lyrics mean

  • @fanofprotopic Anderson has stated in many interviews that many of his lyrics don't make literal sense because he often used words simply for their sound and how they flowed, not for their meaning. Certainly not true in all cases, but in more then a couple.

  • Dream Theater's 'Octavarium' is very remeniscant of this, only a little 'harder' and more rythmically driven. Of Course, Yes is one of Dream theater's big influences, so that makes sense. Look it up :)

  • the aural harmonic structure of this performance exceeds the bounds of my mental desire as I drift along on a cloud of marshmallows through a sea of space and time.

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!

  • Transendental music. Of course I love all they're old stuff. But my son was born to they're 2001 album magnification. Its one of my favorite albums. Thats pretty awesome that after more than 30 years theyre still finding ways to eccentuate every album with precise variation while delivering a live show as equally tended as they're album experience. Cant say enough about these guys. Anderson, Wakeman, White, Squire, and Howe.YES.

  • somptueux ...

  • enchanting.....get lost in it every time!

  • My very first concert was Yes in 1975. Need I say anything more.

  • "The Preacher The Teacher" amazed me, it was candy to my ears!

  • Beautiful voice

  • GOT MASTERPIECE ?!!

  • You have to seriously question the mental state of anyone who would "dislike" this

  • musica angelical, solo inspirada por y para seres de luz. /88

  • I was lucky enough to see them in 77, no other band like them

  • going to see them in Nov 2011...Apollo Manchester just hope they are as marvelous as they were in 2009 in Manchester...they blew me away (yet at again)

  • howe an d squire should b ashamed assholes!!!!!!

  • są jak dobre wino ,im starsi tym lepsi

  • super kawałek

  • Fuuuuuuuuukinn classic, from a time when music was real music. Superb. ☠

  • Yes with Jon Anderson are a different and better line-up, unlile the recent ensemble with another singer who could not perform "And you and I" with the same result!

  • meu deus,ke maravilhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,vozes,quanta sincronia.

  • An albino (Rick), a mosquito (Steve), my libido (Jon).......YEAH!

Steve is a mosquito 'cause he has sucked every last breathing moment outta the name "YES". Too bad Bodast got screwed over so bad Steve and Chris.

If you count orchestral versions, Yes has had 349 members since '68.

Bill B. is the King of Yes, though Jon and Chris and whoever shares the name ownership. Picture stve with carpal tunnel syndrome. It'd be like Kurt Cobain on Adderall. Chris is bloated on Bass Ale. Alan and Yoko!

  • Guitar so sweet. Lyrics and Vocals so sweet. So inspirational ! !

  • Rick Wakeman really is the turd in the punchbowl. I wince whenever I hear him come in.

  • @greggriffith disagree Greg, but great line.

  • i remember seeing them in st.louis when they came out with a revolving stage it was great

  • still brings tears tears of joy to my eyes

  • excelente!!!!

  • @bocha17 tremendoo

  • LES MEILLEURS DES MEILLEURS !!!!

  • God Bless Steve Howe

  • HOLY CRAP 12 string

  • @Cradley51 Like Steve never plays a 12 string

  • 14 tipejos no merecen estar en este planeta junto a Steve Howe......

  • @BooeyHogue Jon Anderson will sacrifice clarity to maintain rhythm and rhyme. That's why meaning sometimes gets lost, but he retains that overall feeling of an ecstatic love song.

  • One of their best musically, but the lyrics are obscure, possibly pretentious. I'm either not as intelligent as I thought or the emperor is wearing no clothes.

  • @BooeyHogue I've always thought of the lyrics in this song as word-play describing a sense of oneness with the natural world and/or higher power. "Seeds of life with you..." Honestly, the whole song can be lyrically wrapped up in the first two lines for me. "A man conceived a moment's answers to the dream, staying (with) the flowers daily, sensing all the themes." The actual feeling is hard to describe. Yes and Jon wrote something that touches on it pretty well, I think.

  • :) a wanna be only.

  • :)

  • Beautiful, incredible, brilliant and gem like. This is what live music should be. It sounds as good as it did in the 70's. I am so glad that I have been able to follow their music for so many years.

  • Jon has chronic ahsma..not a good thing for a singer...yet he manages to transcend his disease to enlighten us with his beautiful alto voice and words. He is a true arranger and vocalist. God bless him. We are lucky to hear his songs.

  • And the stars aligned and said Yes.

  • Oh Alan and Steve....thank you for that last note

  • I bought the Live at Montreux 2003 DVD to hear it as recorded. Not a waste of money. Buy it and support the band. They are so worth it! They are real.

  • they sound so real !

  • Saw them in '75 tales of top oceans tour with my first serious GF and again in 77 with peter frampton second lining..great band

  • saw them in '77,in the round,new haven,my 2nd concert.loved it always!!!

  • The feeling of this song is so amazing, such a beautiful melody, pure genius!

  • Absolutely LOVE this. Wore this LP out in my youth.

  • Is that a Synclavier that Steve Howe Plays at one point?

  • @RICH12DAY34 belive it or not, that's a guitar he's playing, not a keyboard.

  • Great Musicians ! So much talent !

  • someone amazing shared this song with me i will never forget her.. ever !its one heartbreaker of a tale.. this cant help listening to it, its adorable like her ..it brings me to tears just thinking about the melody.

  • I remember that John Deacon, the Queen's basist said that his favorite group was Yes and his favorite basist is Chris Squir sometime in late '70s. The Chorus by Yes obviously influences that of Queen in the early days. a comment from Tokyo.

  • i saw this song live in meadowbrook

  • Merci!

  • Incredible! sound of the way, things were! I can't believe that i was there ! part of such a great Time in the history! of Rock~Roll! Music!

  • YES THANK YOU FOR MANY YEARS OF ART!

  • one of my favorite songs, saw it live in76.

  • I'm 24 and yes have made ,e realise all the bands I like were born from inspiration

  • That was amazing!!!! All players and the camera work expressed the performance perfectly

  • and Steve is playing the Gibson ES 345 TDSV! (personal favorite)

  • Siberian khantu

  • @Japanzor it's Siberian Khatru, and this song is called And You And I

  • *****

  • El Album "Close to the Edge" es una maravilla, una obra de arte total. Si Mozart viviera sería fanático de Yes.

  • Lovely album.
