  • A clean song I remember, about traveling this country.

  • Funny, I can (and do) listen to the music of the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, even the 80's (the EARLY 80's), and I find something wonderful about it all. But after the 80's, it just stopped working for me. Sure, there's an occasional song I like, but overall - BLAH!. This is a classic example of the easy, light-hearted pop I adored through the years. Thank you for posting.

  • good one!!

  • Great song. Brings back great memories. Thank you for sharing.

  • like this song

  • The very best!!!

  • the best music ever!!!

  • this song reminds me of my labby. bubba he goes every where with me.

  • love this song and others by Lobo---those were great times and feel so grateful to be born in the late 40's--music was music---lyrics were simple but spoke volumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • brings old memiers back of my labior he was lovely went ever where

  • A hot summer night, some cold Coors, and a world of dreams yet ahead of me in my life. Young and full of life, and dreams. Move on, keep traveling, sigh... miss it.

  • no wonder i listen to serruis radio sucks these days

  • Yes, another great song to enjoy as time flys by. I used to have the album. I wish music were this good now. :)

  • Still a great tune to get the feet tapping ... those were the good old days. Scary part is "right now" will be the good old days for some, lol.

  • LOVE IT!

  • Ah smooth!!!

  • Then the national debt was under 500 billion dollars and you could hitchhike around the country. Now the national debt is over 15 trillion dollars and you wouldn't want to hitchhike two miles. Help us, dear Jesus.

  • Good Choice Of Music! Sounds Great!!

  • Wow!! I remember this song well. Hit the charts in 1971!! Takes me back.

  • where are u

  • 38 Dislikes? This is an awesome song, you must like Lawrence Welk.

  • driving music for the free spirits of this world.....

  • Love this song, hadn't heard it in nearly a decade! Still know the words :)

  • @Rachel33orr Likewise!

  • I'm feeling really old right about now.

  • i was 12 maybe 13 yrs old and this beautiful lady had a dog named boo, my friends and i were in love with her. she never knew. early 70's

  • Those were the days, I miss them.

  • rideing music. and then you have turn it up

  • This once was voted as the worst song ever written.

  • I think this one came out in '70 or '71. I was settled down by then in Waukegan. My younger brother had just gotten divorced. My daughter was on the way or had just been born.

  • I love this track !

    Thank you for posting :)

  • we had a dog named Boo I think that my brother named it after this song. Was always one of my favs as a kid...oh the memories. Things were so much simpler and nice back then. Kids growing up now have no idea when songs weren't about killing and sex.

  • Memory lane!

  • Good ole days

  • Named a good dog after the band.....LOBO

  • @monsterblood420 LOBO was not a band but the stage name for Roland Kent Lavoie. Lobo is Spanish for wolf. This was his first big hit. His biggest came about a year and a half later: "I'd Love You To Want Me".

  • I cranked this 8-track in my chevy van half way to California in 78'. Such great times!!!

  • Love it!!!!

  • i love this song my fiancee got me into the oldies he especially loves dire straight!

  • I love the oldies. It brings back so many great memories. great song.......

  • No kidding,,sitting here drinking my 11th Tecate listening to these old songs,,wow! i actually have tears in my eyes thinking back to my old friends. Weren't no such thing as drive by's HAHAHAAHAH the only thing driving by you,was someone shooting you the MOON!. hahahhhhahaha GOD!! to be 13 again.

  • @mikalasocal 47 here and man you are so right. To go back to those days and stay there would be just perfect. This music today, for lack of a better word...SUCKS..lol.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS song brings back ALOT of memories when I was younger and my parents were still with me....Thanks for sharing

  • das that no one wants to see

  • 'How I loved being a free man" damn those words mean so much now. With this government we are anything but free. This song takes me back to a time when people trusted each other and always helped each other.

  • I love this song reminds growing up traveling the countrysides

  • love thies two songs

  • can't call THIS guy a 1 hit wonder. he had a BUNCH of hits.

  • This song still makes my heart jump with happiness. This was just a fun song to listen to on a road trip or on PCH in SoCalif.

  • This song is from that era when half the worlds' population of dogs were called 'Boo'.

My Dad loved this song, as do I.

  • Back then at least you could understand the words to the music. That being said I recall my grandfather saying the same thing about the music we listened to, you know people like Elvis and Chuby to name a few. I guess that the generations are not ever going to agree on music

  • Won a beer in a bar in 1971; a friend of mine bet me that the dog's name was Blue!!!

  • I'm 47 and miss the good old days hearing all these songs on the radio. Kids today probably can't relate to some static-y AM transistor radio in the family station wagon, cranking out all these timeless songs.

We have far better recording and audio technology now. But today's music just doesn't hit the sweet spot. ;o(

  • What? No "Slap my bitch" lyrics?

  • @CrankCase08 and smoking crack/coke/pot, pimpin whores etc.

  • @CrankCase08 your bitch is actually a Hermferdite shemale named JuPaul.

  • @CrankCase08 no but in the remix, she sleeps with his best friend and he kicks boo...:)

  • reminds me of the road trips, though short as they were, and this song playing as New Jersey was totally explored

  • Im 66 & that song still sounds good to me.I have a dog named Boo .He is a Australian Blue Healer Love this song & Boo.

  • I'am 51 also it just reminds of a simpler time and what the kids of today won't get to experiance.

  • love it!

  • I always thought it was " a dog named blue."

Oh well, I still loved this song....

  • @659Russ my buddy discussed that word one night over a few ryes..i said it was boo and he said blue..so i guess i was right for once ..lol

  • old people are depressing.

    good music though

  • Reminds me of my girlfriend in the 70's, good it has been 30 some years now.

  • i wonder what kind of dog Boo was? early '70s, i'm guessing lassie-looking collie.

  • Those were the days!!!

  • Good times, & less taxation too

  • i had a dog named boo she was an english setter and she was the best dog ever

  • i like all song of lobo

  • rostovron, "had very little back then but were happy" whadda ya mean? I had a '57 Plymouth Belvedere with floor rusting out and 33cent gasoline and parents who kept food in fridge and a bedroom for me to sleep in and money from delivering papers and mowing grass. We had it all back then + Lobo, Beach Boys and 4Tops! :). Cool song! Thks!

  • Damn it..... where did the time go??? I remmeber hearing this on a little transistor radio sitting on a dock fishing when I was just a little feller!! So long ago and feels like only yesterday.....

Things just move too damn fast these days..... a day seemed to last forever back then!

  • @Snydedawg Time compresses as you get older. But, your still a youngster, ( for now ).

  • good

  • to many thoughts involved

43 now and still know the words

  • i remember singing this sont in the car at age 5...i liked the dog. now im 14.

  • GREAT SONG !!!!!

  • Great song. Thanks for sharing.

  • wonderful song! i kind of lived this for a while! ;-)

  • Forgot all about this classic. Great song.

  • I used to love this song so much when it came on the radio and I was in my '62 Chevy pickup with the custom paint job. No way it's been, what, 39 years.

  • When this song had come out, I had just picked up my little Georgia sweetheart, and was heading back across country to Washington state. I think we had $50 in our pocket, and my dads gas card. Got us a motel one night, which took about $10, and the rest of the trip slept out under the stars. Loved this song, as I felt we were living it.

  • Love it,Good memories indeed.Thank You !

  • Love the song - such memroies flood through the mind of times gone by.

  • This song ran through my mind when we went cross country by car. Only thing its hard to rob from an old hen when there are fences and security everywhere.

  • I always loved this song as a kid.....and still at the age of 37 I still LOVE it!! Thanks for posting

  • There are positives. Without the internet and sites such as youtube, this great music and most other music from the past would probably be forgotten by now.

  • memories .....

  • What happened to those care free days. The violence wasn't antywhere near like it is now. Appreciation and respect for others was part of our culture. Trying for peace was truly believed possible!

  • as I read these comments how true how I wish go back when we hung out..Back then I use to wish was older now I wish that did come true.My grandson all he wants to do play his xbox

  • Another great song

  • it would be great to be able to that.but people just won,t help each other anymore. it,s 911 and go away.great song.

  • I ws born in 1968, and I remember when these songs came out, It does take you back and makes you think how innocent it was back then.

  • I was a sophomore in high school at St. Laurence HS in Burbank, IL when this song was released. Man...does it bring back some sweet memories.

  • @arkaeic interesting...

  • I think it's been about 39 years ago this song was a hit. I want to say 1972, but I could be wrong. A sweet tune that brings back so many great memories. I lived in the country and we had old cars, old tractors and a farm dog. I was in eighth grade and dreamed of traveling the country with a pretty girl. I'd give a million bucks just to go back and live that simple life.

  • My friend and I were sixteen. Somehow Jim was able to find a 1969 Dodge Coronet Superbee. I was delivering pizzas for Mr. Pizza in Toronto at the time. Jim showed up with his car and we used it to deliver a couple of pizzas. Can you imagine? This is even before hot cars were hot. But we knew this car was something special. A 426 hemi with twin 4 barrel We used to go to Harvey's at the 401 and 400 I think. Home of the "Hot Ones" they called it. I wonder if it's still there?

  • How wonderful to find this song. Yes I was a child of the 50's who was fortunate to hear this song and appreciate it for its simplicity in life. I lived in the country and dreamt of travelling in a similar way. I did, but my dog's name was Patch.

  • time flys

  • when did this song come out? such great memories! i was so young in mind and body....would love to grab these days back for a few moments.....

  • remember this when i was an apprentice plasterer. always on the radio.

  • Reminds me of my Stingray with the sparkle banana seat & my Transistor Radio! Those were the best of days...

  • this old song is like yesterdays greatest hit! :)

  • Oh yeah good and best songs.

  • wow i just happened to see this song here...that was the age of innocence that is long gone. I'm just thankful I got to experience the '60's and '70's, even if it makes me older now!

  • when i started plastering this was never off the radio.

  • 32 people need to research "simpler times" when life was less hectic and far less complicated.

  • At 54... this song opens all the child memories.... i love it.

  • @MrOldwarhorse Same age as me. I miss the 70s.

  • @MrOldwarhorse I am 51 sir and it does the same for me, I wonder if that is why a lot of us are here. Too go back to a happier time. When things seemed happier and easier.

  • @1969pontiac1 Agreed. 45 now and feel the same. My 15 yr old listens to crap that makes me cringe. Great kid. Gotta let listen to their generations music.

  • Yep, those were the days! Thanks for posting this ...

  • great song, how the times have changed music, still enjoy the music of my day.

  • 31 people have never had a dog

  • Happy memories w/this song.

  • This is a very good version of this song, but not the original that played on the radio when it came out. I rlove the song and still have the record. (Yes the actual record, not a tape or disc! lol!) To me it brings back make out sessions with my first serious boyfriend and the fun and freedom of being a teenager! :-)

  • @jangard3 I too have the original record. I always loved this song I played on Saturday mornings, right before the "Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show" came on. Oh and for the record (pardon the pun) I'm an African-American male. This proves that great music is timeless and also "colorblind."

  • @Footsniffer51 Color never mattered to me whether it was music or ppl! Some of my fav's back then were from black (now called African American) groups! :-) I lived in a large city and when we'd open our garage door, plug in the record player and turn it up half the neighborhood would show up and our long driveway would be full of dancing teens of every race! :-) The good ol' days!!

  • @jangard3 I agree with you to the uttmost!!!

  • Hey everything you said I agree with, I wish the kids were learning to get

along with one another. I'm from Cali, northern part of the state, SF bay area, military brat,

we lived around alot of different people, but music was one of the things that brought people

together from all walks of life. Take by brother, lol... "may the force be with you" : )

  • Jeff62rey i must agree with you on all of that you have said- Saturday mornings meant kids shows, not the today or CBS news on saturdays shows-it also meant American Bandstand where you might have seen LOBO or others perform their latest hits and find out are to get rid of acne with stridex pads or clearasil those 6 hour ball games with right field out because you did not have enough kids for a full team (mine was left field out-lefty batter)at age 51 i wish i was home in Greenview IL again

  • my dad used to hit me with a belt everytime I would screw up. now he dont dare ..

there was nothing to do but sit around or go and play pool or ride... then came the pot and shit man those were the years....lol

  • This was when our fathers would kick us all in the ass and tell us to go outside to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. There was no internet, cell phones, computers, iPods, etc. We would disappear for hours and our parents never worried about us. The worst thing we did was stay out too late.

  • the "good ole days" , prices relatively speaking are the same"?? " lol! well , i do recall having to show my orders to get & my 72 gran torino back to ky from s.c... the same car costing me 3 grand new.. & i beleive my wages have gone up about double+ since then & a new mustangs over 24 grand ! gee i think thats about about 8x the cost as in 72 lol ! it wasnt perfect-but for me ... i wouldnt trade all the bs today for a single year of the 60"s or early 70's ...!

  • Song makes me want to cry my brother used to play this all the time we lost him to cancer 10 years ago he was only 38 years old

  • lime green huffy with 5speed and sparkle banana seat with real handbrakes!! flower power. 22cents for a pepsi, and real penny candies!!

  • this definitely falls under the category of "remember when", great song

  • Oh and I remember mom's number one rule: you had to be IN the house by the time the street lights came on...not in the yard... not saying bye to all your friends... but IN the house! Unless you lived where there were no streetlights.. then I guess there was another number one rule... but Navy bases have LOTS of lights LOL

  • @caretaker245231 So then you didn't get to stay out and play hide 'n go seek at night? That was our favorite thing.

  • @strawberryseason only when the mom's got together in someone's yard to play cards or whatever... then we could stay out as long as they did.. not on school nights of course LOL

  • This isn't the original.

  • This brings back some memories! Oh what it was to grow up in the 60s and 70s.

  • i agree with the sentiments. plus no stress.people had very little but were happy.

  • @rostovron I don't know about the no stress. Back then we had to worry about the Ruskies trying to blow us up.

  • I remember going around on Saturdays and waiting for all the moms to empty their vaccum bags in the trash... inevitably there would be pennies in there and we would take them to the store for penny candy...back then you could get 2 pieces for a penny! awesome times for sure

  • this is the way it should of stayed , good music , talking to each othere ,it was so nice to be young back then

  • @DarkSolz4 you said it!!

  • Love this song had the album, Miss & Loves the 70s what a time we had!

    Olskool the Best!

  • This is NOT the original recording! This is a re-recording.

  • Great song and wonderful memories of being young again!!!!!!!

  • I want to use this song in my film

  • I'm only 22 but much as I'm moving forward with today's technology, I too long for the good old days of being a kid, without a care in the world--riding our bikes, running around in the backyard until it got dark, singing songs, going on "adventures," and just enjoying life. I love this song!

  • nice, yet so lacking in details. i can relate. Top ten Heaven songs.

  • I miss the 70's also...I love going on here and finding all these old songs, still remember the words so we must have played those old 45's over and over again...Now I practice them on my guitar and thank God no one is listening but me!!!

  • I miss the nontechnological 70's

  • This is a great song brings me back to the 60s and 70s. It was a great times. We never were in the house and all we had was 3 channels on TV. Baseball in the summer and football in the fall and sledding in the winter it was a good time to grow up. There was so many graet songs. Thanks

  • I will always love this song - forever

  • My first live experience I had as a kid, by two traveling hippies in the streets, somewhere in the town.In the 60s we had no info about the revolution in music in the west.A backwards country outside the pop and rock zone.I was a kid and I was mesmerized! Thanks guys, wherever you are. Even if not in this planet.

  • I will love this song forever.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I will love this song and the group forever.

  • song brings back good memories long lost youth

  • Love the song! A song you can pop in your CD player or tape player and play it while traveling

  • Why the fuck are all these British folks singing about America like it's home? Fucking hell.

  • Great song from my elementary school days. He's singing about a lifestyle that probably would not be possible to live today.

  • very nice song to sing with.

  • Oh I remmber this one so nice to hear it again.

  • I just loved it...:)

  • This song reminds me so much of the 3 years I spent driving around the country working at odd jobs here and there with a mangy old Tiger Tabby Cat named Skoooooter. He never left my side for 23 years, and the 3 we bummed around the contry were the sweetest I will ever have. He's been gone for 2 years now, and I look forward to seeing him again when I cross the rainbow bridge. Me and that SkooooterKat.

  • When I grew up there was a saying "Never trust anyone over 30". Now its reversed . Never trust anyone under 30 . The world is in your hands my friend . Its what you make of it . Dont follow anyone but yourself . Its called being a leader . Not your college professors , NO ONE . Follow yourself . Get the education , then make your own way and decisions . College is a must . Get the best education you can then attack life and defend yourself and ideology with your newly aqquired intellect .

  • I can listen that this one , is a modern version of the original one of 1971 , but with the same quality of that one...greetings from Chile !

  • love this music--can always sing it -it has a tune and words.

  • i am 14 and i HATE rap i love music like this :D

  • Great song and a great vibe... Thanks for posting. Back on the road again...

  • He has the same Last name AND birth day as me O.O

    long lost uncle? lol

  • This is a plain good old happy song that came out when the world was going bad. I was still to little to get all the bad stuff but I knew this song made me happy and my mom would turn it up on the car radio and we would sing the chorus together. A very sweet song now to look back on.
