a soled-body guitar is simple, but how do you make a hollow body guitar. I can figure out the top and bottom parts but I'm having trouble whit the sides
Thanks for the video. I would like your advice on binding a guitar with a maple veneer top. If you've done something like that, is there are good way to accomplish it to minimize tear away of the edge of the veneer. Would it be better to cut the body, route the binding channel, install the veneer, then the binding? Sorry for the long question, but I'm having trouble finding advice on that.
@jim10376 Cut the body, route the binding channel, install the veneer, then the binding. Let the veneer overhang the channel slightly and trim flush with a sharp razor or Xacto blade. If there are any gaps after adding the binding, you could fill them with wood putty do a sunburst finish.
thanks this really helps. Im gonna build my second guitar and i want to do somthing a little harder than a strat. i want to bind it and laminate it but i dont want an archtop. do you have any ideas?

Thanks again. Do you think it would be risky to trim the veneer overhang with the rabbeting bit used to route the binding channel?
Also, it seems to make sense to wait to route the pickup (and other) top-side cavities until after the veneer is applied.

Just want to mention that binding is flammable. Be careful heating it up.

That's why I like to use ABS plastic. It'll still burn, but not like celluloid. That stuff can explode!
