  • I love this.

This was the first LP of Brendel I bought, probably more than 40 years ago.

It's still my favorite recording of the piece.

  • probably my favorite piece for string orchestra it really works!

  • Good version! *****

  • I've only heard this from Bolet. It sucked. This doesn't.

  • @aardvaark069

Brendels performance is truly of his best. The Vienna orchestra mediocre routine, but this might be attributed to the recording technique (you here LP noise) and youtube limits. But if you mean, Jorge Bolets performance "sucks" – which for Europeans means "shit" – then I cannot help. His 1984 DDD Decca interpretation differs from Brendels, but it appears to me at least as good – and he plays a wonderful piano!

  • for so long I thought this piece was never finished. its such a nice surprise to finally hear it

  • The best of early Brendel in Liszt, truly, bitingly devilish, and spurring a usually indifferent orchestra & routine conductor to a higher expressive level. What a remarkable youthful near-masterpiece, so modern for its time.

  • @NOSEhow2LIV yes this has a modern feel to it very perceptive
