  • what is the NAME of that instument! I been trying to find it ALL damn day and am having no luck. help please!!!!

  • @ChynnaDollTM that is Erhu or Chinese Violin or Chinese Fiddle or 二胡

  • she is just like flowing water

  • the erhu...amazing. <3

  • 来自澳大利亚的问候 :)

    謝謝你的上傳。我喜歡二胡,它的聲音是如此柔軟...我不能停下來聽吧!

  • In Love....totally...with both, girl and music....

  • Humm Chinese Milenar music! Gracefull..indisturbed...Hermoso!

  • Beautiful music - thank you

  • It's very cool how that instrument (the violin-type) has a wood wind flute nature sound when played with sustain, when the song gets faster you can tell its string

  • love this type of music used to play romance of the three kingdoms and this would put me right there

  • does anyone know where I can find the sheet music to this song?

  • I was enticed, enthralled, amazed.

  • Who's the pianist?

  • The 16 dislikes must be deaf, dumb, and blind! Cause this is pure essence of art and beauty.

  • I love the white rosin powder "blast" along the base of the erhu. Makes me miss my erhu... Gonna get a new one next month :)

  • That and the pipa are one my favorite instruments...as well as the bagpipes. This is so beautiful...i wish i could play this well - or at all.

  • 于红梅的形象是传统的中国古典美人,平静中透着淡淡的忧伤,她演奏这首豫北叙事曲是再合适不过了。

  • its so sad id deffenatly shows the feeling through through it the erhu is deffinately the worlds greatest musical instument... i see how its beleived that it could make a entire army crumble by listening to it trully majestic

  • She's relay good!! Somehow I wish I had an erhu as well now :)

  • this sounds really sad. somehow all erhu songs are sad.

  • The beauty of Yu Hongmei as an artist overwhelms this board. No less amazing is also the beauty of piano and erhu combining to bring out perhaps the best melody of a local folkloric narrative--the Ballad of North Henan Province. From the emotional music one can hear a touching story in remembrance of a distant eventful past.

  • como se llama este s intrumento que toca la xina ......es bacan

  • it looks like as if she has super powers because u cant rly see the string;D

  • SHE PLAYS, WITH SUCH EMOTION_ BEAUTIFUL...

  • o wow this is literally an angel's music -- Mystic beauty in music and the musician !

  • i like it - thanks

  • 演奏技巧登峰造极,出神入化。钢琴伴奏表现极佳。

  • North Korea, BEST KOREA!

  • @CorbinBay - Agreed - Best Wishes

  • @CorbinBay Um why? from what I hear, North korea is a land wear its people are forced to stay prisoner in it (can't leave), are brainwashed to beleive their leader (kim jong ill, cant spell) is a god or something. Oh and supposedly they're all ppor, while the leader gets rich off of everything. pleaseee, if i'm ignorant of the REAL north korea, teach me. perhaps i need to hear the other side of the story

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOW I REALLY LOVE IT :O

  • the erhu is an beautiful instrument.....can anyone tell me how it makes such a voice-like sound.....i hear its something to do with the pythonskin......

  • That's all I do for relaxation. Listen to Chinese violin on youtube and porn video on another webpage. I wish this chinese girl would undress and play her instrument for me.

  • @freeqwerqwer HAHAAHHAHAH

  • el sonido de este instrumento es de cuento.......precioso........con un encanto...totalmente super grato.......que trasmite un acorde que estabiliza y alegra y me parece que hasta puede describir el espacio mental....que raro lo que acabo de poner pero es lo que me inspira........

  • Please! What the instrument she's touch?

  • @Kanoko1802 erhu, Chinese is 二胡

  • The piano player is good too guys

  • all in one string too wow

  • wow,... absolutely beutiful.

  • I was researching different stringed instruments and came across this beautiful video. I must say I'm quite impressed. I want to get one of those!

  • what a beautiful sound, she inspires me to learn how to play

  • Oh...wow. that was just... Awesome.

  • Geisha...

  • chinese music is sooo wonderful ♥_♥

  • i love it

  • I want to be that pianist in the background :D

  • Omg ... this is.. Beautilful!! Now I want to play erhu even more! :D

  • im born on the wrong side of the world..

  • @MissZuvi , where were you born?

  • @wingchunexpert Norway..

  • @MissZuvi, You and I should have a baby in China. That way at least your child is born in the right side of the world.....hoping you would say yes.....hahaha..

  • I am so amazed by her ability to play the Ballad of North Henan Province without looking at the music notes. As I am looking and listening, suddenly she becomes one with the Erhu. She is the body and the Erhu is her arms. Erhu becomes an extension of her and all the beautiful notes come showering down from above. Am I hallucinating or is she a fairy???

  • @wingchunexpert You are hallucinating....obviously nothing here on the material plane is congruent to such a pristine mathematically perfect construct as prof Yu Hongmei. But shared consensual Hallucination is the basis for reality...Perhaps Prof Yu merely teaches us that higher plane is accesible...at least on the "You-Tube"

  • @SSGreyAndi, Yes, grandma. Thanks for rescuing me from the dreamland to reality. With my eyes still closed, suddenly I hear loudly from Afar, " get up, you are going to be late for work......" (a borrowed line from the movie, Kung Fu panda)" I jump up and look at the clock on the wall, it is 9:00 am, half an hour late, but I find myself still alive and well existing on planet earth.

Yes, that is what Red Plum's music can do to you.

  • @wingchunexpert

Hi, Expert, Howdy. JazzyZenBrotha is my good friend!

  • @david1234lee, thanks for letting me know that jazzy is your good friend. Howdy, Jassy? I am cool. I am curious who Dimalyn is, your friend, girl friend, live-in partner? I am totally awaken now while Hongmei's music is turned off so I can get back to do my daily routine without any after effects from Hongmei's erhu music induced hallucination.

  • @wingchunexpert

Wing, this is about war-time tragical occurences and the tone is defitely sad. Both you and Jazzy are my good friends!

  • @david1234lee, what a coincidence. Jazzy is also my friend. We have subscribed to each other's channel. Yes, this song is so sad. I nearly cry a river. Nay, not really, but it is full of emotions, sentiment and sorrow. It puts me in a mournful state of mind. Hung Mei is so vesatile in playing with one's feelings, I hate her. But I really love her as a professional erhu player. You forgot to ask me what to bring me back from Yu. How about Kemei Jiang's love or leads?? hehehe

  • @wingchunexpert

I used to bring back some small stuff on Tan jing for him when I was in Beijing. I suppose he is a Caucasian and did not have our convenience, He is a very nice person. We are trying to get Yu hung mei here. But I lost my courage twice last year. I was there three times but will do it ths time. I shall indirectly as Yu if that little girl can also come.

  • @david1234lee, what is Tan jing? I thought he was a black person. Anyway race does not matter. He is our good friend and that is what matters. Don't worry David, I shall give you all the courage you want via my vibrations. You will succeed this time. If Kemei can come, I will fly right in to meet her. I need to get a diamond ring ready. hehehehe........Or you can get some leads from the most honorable Yu, that will be very helpful. Many thanks.....

  • @wingchunexpert

Tan is a Chinese lady singer from Shanxi. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, she sang "One World; One Dream"! Her most famous song,to me, was "I Love You, China" and she has the voice and manner, the charm and the emotional range to enchant a whole nation. I do not sleep unless I listen to her daily, and watch my taichi princess Qiu hui-fang and see Yu hung-mei and do my wild thinking on Dima and Chipmunk, haha!

  • @david1234lee, thanks for the information. Thought I searched for Tan Jing before.

yeah, now I remember I did. Me too, I listen to Yu and Kemei daily after meals while having a cup of jasmine tea. This Tai Chi princess is rather cute, isn't she? Are you paying your attention to Tai Chi or her?? LOL I bet you are gawking at her beauty rather than the art. Chipmunk is quite attractive, isn't she? Can't say the same about Dima, cause no one has seen her face before. I believe she is also.

  • @wingchunexpert

I like Qiu as a martial art teacher but she certainly is attractive. I am very strong even in American standard and my feeling should turn to admiration. I know somebody who met Qiu in Beijing and exchanged a couple of fists with her. She is a natonal champion! They admired her. I like Dima as a friend, a dear one. But Yu turns me on. I can give her my Harley for 1 hour of simply holding her hand and a Mercedes for holding her feet. This is where I stop. I am a measured man.

  • bravo.pura vida,gracias gente de laprovincia de henan.saludos desde costa rica.port limon.

  • excellent performace!! I love erhu

  • So, you think that Rwandan culture is as good as France's? And that the Southern slavery culture was good? A simple yes or no will suffice.

  • @citizenfitz Wow, what the hell is that question suppose to mean? Rwanda has a great culture, and they have managed to build up their country after a genocide that happened just over 15 years ago. It's admirable. Imagine the willpower it takes to move on from such a horrific event, put it in contrast with world war II - the western world has barely moved on from that.

  • @ChillpointNews Dreadkid said "all cultures are equal". Do you think Rwanda's culture is on a par with France's?

  • @citizenfitz Indeed I do. I think you're mixing up technology advancement with culture. Rwanda isn't as technologically advanced as France. But the country has a strong culture.

  • Virtuoso or not she's still hard to live with when her period's starting.

  • @citizenfitz And you know her how?

  • @MetaRidley06 She's a woman for God's sake.

  • @citizenfitz and you sound like a sexist.

  • @Dreadkid08 No, I'm a realist. You on ther other hand.... And yes, some cultures are better than others.

  • @citizenfitz you're not being a realist, just stupid. You can't say one culture is better than another, thats what led to so many problems in the past. How can you say chinese culture is better than lets say german culture? Chinese culture is wonderful yes, good music, good food. But german culture brought classical music and good food too. American culture brought blues, jazz and rock to the world. Japanese culture brought anime. All cultures are good, thats a narrow sighted view you have.

  • @Dreadkid08 Actually it's you who's stupid. Anyone with a brain cell can see that French culture is better than say... Rwandan. And not all cultures are "good". Unless you're prepared to say that the Southern US slave culture was good....

  • @citizenfitz I find it interesting that you bring up slavery because that was born off the idea that someone and someone's culture was better than another's. Much like you are saying now. If you want to start bringing up bad things about cultures though how about Tianemanen Square or Mao Zedong? Those are certainly some bad points in chinese culture. As for your Rwandan reference. African culture brought a lot of music to the world. Anytime you listen to anything with drums, you owe Africa.

  • @citizenfitz i tink al;l cultures are good accept for the american :P they just bring slavery war poor countrys heroine cocaine inbred rednecks oil desasters food shortage pulution macdonalds burgerking emos fat ppl cancer aids sars

lady gaga justin bieber first sigarets Abombs !!!! killt 2pac !!!! and this was what came up into my head when i thougt about america and the only good things they have they destroy like kennedy 2pac m jackson ml king aids vacine cancer vacine freedom

  • @reemstrrr Good Lord....

  • how beautiful what a awesome sound. I'm looking into buying an instrument and i saw on e-bay a erhu like the one the lady is playing. Wanted To know What it Is And How It sounds. Now I Know.

  • she has so much more talent than i ever will

  • This would be so much better without piano!

  • How can I find her official website or her e-mail address? who knows it?

  • @Rana1362 her offical website is here

    h t t p:// yuhongmei.c o m/

  • Yu Hongmei is a woman with grace, beauty, and skill. She owns that Erhu because it is part of her core being. She plays it with precision while retaining the perfect gentle touch.

Bless Miss Yu Hongmei. She has opened me up to the world of erhu music and the greatness of Chinese Classical music.

  • @JazzyZenBrotha

    Agree, agree, agree!

  • @JazzyZenBrotha

    Hi, Jazzy! Howdy!

  • @david1234lee - Hey David1234Lee.

Nice seeing you here on this page to appreciate Miss Hongmei's beautiful erhu playing.

  • @JazzyZenBrotha

Sure, Brotha! Thisoe is so deep ad deely touches my heart, babbling like a sad stremlet!

  • @JazzyZenBrotha

Hey, Jazzy! Nice weekend! Need me to brig back something on Yu for you?

  • what is the correct term for the clothes she is wearing? what are they called?

  • Comment removed

  • @jay3248 No exact name, just kind of clothes for perfomance, with some typical chinese component~

  • @jay3248

    in english ---- cheongsam

    in chinese ---- 旗袍

  • @kwwkwwkww cheongsam - isn't it traditional Korean dress?

  • @alberthepooh

    that's Chinese dress

    you can google

  • @wlwlnana indeed, it is chinese (but I know it as qipao, from know that it has another name cheongsam~~). but it sounds so korean~

  • @alberthepooh

    True though,that's weirdXD

  • @alberthepooh no, it's Manchurian dress.

  • @kwwkwwkww Do you mean it is a Manchu traditional dress?

  • @alberthepooh yes, Manchu traditional dress.

  • So graceful to watch its like shes flying

  • Another evidence that the FAR EAST kicks the ass of the western civilization

  • @cesarmalak I think I have to agree... However, I must argue that California has the best weather. Ever. ;)

  • @cesarmalak no culture is better than another. all are good.

  • the oldest civilazation on earth GREAT CHINA

  • this china girl is very cute... I don't know why but I have a huge crush on chinese girls (depending on the beauty of course)...... she has a good musical work, and she is beautiful too.

  • @latinlion13 me too...

  • @latinlion13 Her husband is also a foreigner:P

  • It's kind of sad that when people think of Chinese Music they think of the "chopsticks theme" instead of masterpieces like this...

  • no ego's here just pure bliss

  • isn't is the music sound to the Chinese series of the butterfly lovers?

  • @xxonetymaxx a little like..it talks about some sad things of middle china several decades ago,and then imagines a good future..

  • Erhu - such a beatiful instrument, it sounds wonderful , especialy in guru hands. Can anyone reccomend me more masterpieces of this instrument?

  • What is an average price for an erhu? I'm not wanting anything concert level, sort of like what a standard telecaster is to guitars.

  • @theredreceivers You should expect to pay between 200$ and 300$ for a non-professional quality instrument, not including whatever taxes might be due.

  • @shiromori Ok thanks. Follow up question: how hard is an erhu to play compared to a violin?

  • @theredreceivers Common opinion seems to be that the erhu is a difficult instrument to play. The bowing technique for the erhu is very different from the violin and takes a lot of practice to do correctly. Because I do play the violin, I'm naturally inclined to say that the violin is easier, but that could just be because it's what I'm used to. Each instrument, of course, has its own method.

  • This video is very powerful for me. It's one of the best things I've ever seen (for some reason that I don't understand). I guess it's gotten me thinking about art and how amazing human beings can be. I feel pretty cynical about people a lot of the time. Maybe I'm starting to fall in love with my species. I guess art really can change you.

  • Beautiful just beautiful - that's the music as well as the girl!

  • Truly beautiful. Just stunning. This woman has so much feel and elegance in her playing it's amazing!

  • Alright who are the 14 shmucks who couldnt appreciate this!?!? Mesmerizing!!!

  • The erhu sounds like it's crying to me.

  • @mushroomz88, It can be. Erhu is the only musical instrument that has taken a human form in terms of emotions, memories, and feelings go.

  • wondefull las chinas son lo maximo

  • As a composer, I would have replaced the piano with a dulcimer, but I like the convergence anyway :)

  • ancestors forgive me, for making a fool of homeland

  • IL VIOLINO ERHU è lo strumento più bello al mondo!!!!!!!

  • IL VIOLINO ERHU è lo strumento più bello al mondo!!!!!!!

  • Erhu has got a unique and versatile sound.. it can be sad and happy... winter and summer...

  • when i listen to erhu it makes me fell im in the ancient china where empires and dynasty's are still existed, such a lovely melody

  • @vaynard091 I agree friend, I agree

  • Simply amazing!.. enjoyed every note and sec of performance... BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's very clear why it's called a "Chinese violin". Both and beautiful.

  • Even independent from piano, erhu still creates and prouces the sound from the collective Chinese soul. It is profound and unique to our culture and civilization! It is a Chinese instrument which has enchanted the world! Be proud !

  • :D I want her outfit XDDD

:) I do love that instrument though: it's really beautiful

  • Beautiful. Keeping it traditional from the heart and with a hint of hair glitter. Love it all.

  • Desde la Primera ves que escuche este precioso instrumento, me dic eunta que el sonido que emite estan hermoso..!!!

  • straight from a wuxia movie haha.

  • Beautiful playing of the piano, though the erhu is what caught my ear and eye. Great use of dynamics, in particular.

  • Love it...

  • As we can see, no need for the modern instruments, to be delighted with exquisite melodies. An art and a sense of this great country

  • God looking china girl, strange fiddle.. i'm in. I would love to learn how to play that thing!

  • 二胡地音跃太美了!!! 我爱二胡!!!

  • I love Erhu´s

  • o, man...this is so beutiful.....

  • Stunning

  • I always wonder what makes that beautiful sound when i watch kung fu movies.

  • @Kristinaheartsmazin Me too :P

  • Pianist is doing an awesome job too, with the Erhuist.

  • 參考了您的豫北敘事曲

    讓我也有所進步

    真的很感謝!!

  • 于红梅 很有古典美人氣質 好看

  • I would like to hear it without the piano

  • @DubiaFluctuant Yeah me too.

  • The way the composer blends these two radically different musical traditions is quite well done. I have always enjoyed this type of cross-pollination in modern classical music. Curious:

Was the cadenza in the middle largerly improvised (like a Middle-Eastern taxim), or was that actually written out? Or something in between (like an Indian raga)?

    Or something else altogether?

  • Beautiful! This makes me want to learn to play the erhu. ^^

  • why dont they wear hanfu instead of qipao???

hanfu is much more touching and suitable for these songs.

  • 好聽的曲子,並不用太多花俏的技巧,

    平實的表現作曲家的原意,

    真的是無懈可擊

    期待您的其他演奏

  • wow!! amazing =D

  • What a balsamic infinite music.....Mesmerising!

  • she looks like charice pempengco..

  • 12 people didn't like this, I wonder why not?

  • @dwyermckerr90 silly people?

  • @booksgodt Their ears may be broken, I feel sorry for them.

  • @dwyermckerr90 there only jealous of her

  • wow. i have a "decorative" erhu. but i think a real erhu is better no matter how pretty and decorate a fake on is.
