They actually do, in a way. And I love that this band is breaking those boundaries that the so called industry has put up, smothering creativity. Mew is the best thing to have emerged in the last 3 decades, when you look at the "mainstream" section of music.

@Gambit1984 I've always thought that Sigur ros, whilst probably some of the best post rockers out there today, lack something that Mew seem to ooze. Don't get me wrong, they are pretty much masters of their art and cand create beautiful soundscapes and some of the most epic pieces of music i've heard. However i do feel that they can be slightly formulaic and don't strive to add anything new to their music.

@E3tiger I guess some can argue with that. I think every Sigur Rós album sounds different. Also, every Mew album sounds different. So they are probably both great. I just like Sigur Rós a little bit more. (Didnt like the latest Mew album a lot) You cant even compare them much. There are some similarities but they are both unique on their own.

@Gambit1984 (2) Like most post rock bands, they do fall into the procedure of starting softly and slowly building up to a huge peak where the feeling is, 'wow, this moment, its so beautiful..'. which is great and all, but feels a bit repetative after a while. Mew i feel are a more dynamic band with many of the qualities Sigur ros has, but many more. The thing is they are more subtle with showing the beauty and do it in a clever way.

You can feel it flowing under their music. Its almost magical (to me anyway) the way they do it, almost throwing you into Jonas' invented world. I'm going to stop now because i'm probably coming accross as a huge fanboy :P I am a huge Sigur ros fan btw, having listened to them since before i heard Mew, but to me Mew has always had that something extra.

i dunno why, but this is my favorite Mew song of all time...and there are so many to choose from...awesome music/arrangements, and, for as quirky as Jonas lyrics sometimes seem, they also seem equally poetic and profound...
