  • It is sad that there is nothing from Cecil Taylor in the seventies. At the very least, the audio could digitized and uploaded even if there are no films. Cecil Taylor Unit (1978) is my favorite CT recording, and it deserves representation on YouTube. I'll attempt it if I can find a tutorial on how to create a video from a sound recording (hint).

  • intense

  • For those of you who like "Unit Structures"...listen to Cecil's "Conquistador."

  • The images, which are quite nice, seem to be paced way too fast for the music. It seems to me the music is most reminiscent of a light house horn. very very slow and measured. But perhaps I'm missing something.

  • it's like living an entire life in 3 minutes 47 seconds

  • which I think Cecil did for many years, hence the shape he's in now.

  • One of my favorite albums... the video works well with the music.

  • Wow that was fantastic! It makes learning method of sections in frameworks so easy! - genius, thank you...

  • The pics in this vid are kinda frighteningly hypnotic... I love it's originality!!!! :-D !!

  • You didn't look at my old comments did you?

    Those are embaressing..whoever you are..

  • who is alan silva

    amazing visuals

    need to investigate

  • I like Cecil Taylor.

  • I like to beat the shit outta frozen dead cows until they bark like dogs as ghosts in the frost..

  • This song...what exactly is this supposed to be for? In other words..what is the purpose of making a song like this? I don't see it at all and I think it's stupid, but I'll keep it on my favorites anyway 'cause it IS interesting..is that a GIANT contradiction??

Not if I can help it.

  • GUBC, you should: 1)keep on listen!; 2) try and share thoughts with a friend expert on this kind of music; 3) if you like to read, there's a book named "Free Jazz" (Ekkehard Jost) where a whole chapter tries and describe the compositive and improvisative logics in Taylor's Unit Structures.

    Ciao

    Music is the best

  • Either you like it or you don't, but just because you don't like doesn't mean it's not valid music; it's just that you don't like it.

  • If this doesn't open your mind...than what the hell is WRONG with you?

  • the video was made by alan silva who was the bassist

on this taylor song, interesting mixture of musical cacophony with colour's dissonance.this was his impression.....

  • i have this record, it's great

  • Kind of 50s looking

  • Best Free-Jazz album all time! Jimmy Lyons, RIP.

  • Wish I knew who the other players are. Killer music!

  • other players: Ken McIntyre, Jimmy Lyons, Andrew Cyrille, Alan Silva, Henry Grimes and Eddie Gale

  • this is what art sounds like... demanding, intense, stimulating, timeless... this is very complex music.

  • I love the music. Video sucked, but this got another Cecil song up at youtube.

  • Dear ihhavec

This is a masterpiece at the time of having been most filled with wonderfulness and a thrill in Cecil Taylor's musical activities.

Once I became absorbed in such jazz.

His piano makes us feel the opposite side of lyricism-tenderness, and the loneliness of the diamond that nobody can damage.

I desire a full performance of this music as division video while appreciating to you.
