Hey Jack, great video as always, and I have an idea for another one if you are still looking. I dont know if you have seen the video floating around about the father dealing with his daughters facebook account, it has reached about 20 million views and seems pretty controversial. Would love to hear your oppinion on it! Cheers

Lamar is Lame Ass Moron Antisocial Racist :D Fuck SOPA, long live Free and Open Internet!!!!!!!!!
Our fucked up legislators in the US want to make once glorious country something like China, North Korea, Cuba, or Uzbekistan. In those countries the Internet fully belongs to the government and the gov chooses what people can see, read, post, etc. US, on the other hand, has always been proud of its freedom of everything. We even initiated wars to bring "freedom" and "democracy" to places like Iraq, for instance. And now, all this hard work that founding fathers did to create.... ->
Fantastic video mate, keep them coming. On a side note this could possibly hurt the American internet sites if they have blanket bans on anything with copyright material because its the website not the uploader that will cop it. Youtube is owned by google and are making money for America by having videos of people sampling material. Google employs a lot of people to make Youtube possible so I don't reckon they would be willing to regulate every video... not cost effective.
like another video said, piracy is not a criminal issue its a service issue. and like you said, look at i tunes, a businsess that most social researchers predicted would fail because it was giving people something they could get for free (like bottled water). itunes came out years after napster and limewire and all those other massive software but still made billions. itunes proved that convienient can be better than free. (New Internationalist 2010)
agreed, but tax will be a sidenote for the powers that be as well, i download heaps of shit, but it doesn't cost the movie industry or software companies a cent, cos' i wouldn't buy their shit anyway, and if this sopa crap fucks me up i'd just wait for the movie to come to austar and copy it to dvd, as for software i would just borrow it and make my own copies...
but as you say, thats not really the crux of the matter, its about control, i advocate revolution in australia, its time the yanks did as well, i reckon a double grave for gillard and obama is just what the doctor ordered, plus quite a few of their sidekicks as well.
One word mate, greed. And I know for a fact that some big-ish recording artists actually don't care if their music is illegally downloaded, it's just those wankers in suits.
Great video, I think it is so important that people know about this, and how crippling it could be. Maybe a good topic for your next video would be the idea that video games cause youth violence? Again, great video!
You really hit it spot on there. It never has been about copyright to begin with. Apparently SOPA has been postponed indefinitely, but PIPA is still around to cause havoc, so let's hope more big (honest) companies go against it.
@JackYaks I wish I could throw in more idioms but due to the fact that I'm German, I better let it be and just see what happens with SOPA and PIPA. Not much I can do from Canada anyway.
Fun fact that "You wouldn't steel a car" ad was actually caught out using stolen music recently.
SOPA is one of the many attempts by the big "Entertainment" Industry trying to clamp down on the Internet with the rise of independent artists and films, as well as restricting whats the big thing to talk about to drive interest to their cash cow crap.
I'd recommend checking out the Documentary "RIP: A Remix Manifesto" to see the shit these guys have pulled in the past, you can find it on YouTube

It has been an epic fuckup from the beginning. As the exposure by the net of copyright
infringement by the perps who proposed this lovely piece of totalitarian bullshit and a nice
sampling of the torrents going into legislators and the MPAA IP addresses have shown.
Of course this is only going to be selectively enforced on the little people like the rest of
the laws.
