  • i just called to say i love yo by Stevie wonder such a beautiful song!!!!

  • wait, so how it it playing without buzzing? what the heck?

  • that just shows that the key is air.

  • hopefully this robot will replace lady antebellum, taylor swift, orthe band perry :D

  • @MultiStartrek101 - We wish.

  • Skynet

  • It comes from a speaker..

  • @ltschriscrucker No, it plays the trumpet like a human. The robot has artificial lips and has a built-in air compressor. It can also operate on an internal energy source (in this video, an cable is connected to the back). You can read more about the robot on Toyota's website.

  • Stupid Robot,That's not how you hold a trumpet silly!

  • It's a person inside

  • imagine the new prosthetics that can be made as a result of this very precise robot, no more lousy claw looking arm now you get one that actually looks like one.

  • Definitely fake--prerecorded music and synced finger movements.

  • @intrepidpooch stfu dumbass. This is a real robot from Toyota.

  • thumbs p if you noticed that the yelp in the beginning was a base note for the key it played in.

  • ohh look at the title, its from toyota they have a major recall soon any ways so no worrys about robots taking over.

  • you need lips, a tongue and a steady airstream to play trumpet. that robot is probably playing recorded sounds that are simply projecting through the trumpet. it's not imipressive at all. Besides toyota sucks at making cars lol

  • 0:46 LOL.

  • Japanese are obsessed with robots like white people are obsessed with dogs. WOW.

  • @MrPoophead1000 - huh? im white and i fucking HATE dogs...

  • Now, I'd love to see ASIMO come in and beat the shit out of this robot.

  • Mabey toyota should give up on making cars and just do the robots cause recently their cars been sucking

  • cool robot, stupid stevie wonder tune

  • you have to be so naive to think that robots can replace musicians. you have to be so easily impressed to even imagine that. things are far more complex than it seems. plus, people tend to forget about coexistence. eletronic music does not replace other kinds of music, they all coexist. people will enjoy robot and electronic, but they will also enjoy the other things the world has to offer.

  • @limafilho27 I agree with you completely.

  • It can't even get the trumpet away from it's mouth on its own, I won't expect a robot take-over just yet.

  • fuck that was nice! we are going to get replaced like the horses did when we invented cars! :(

  • Wow talented robot. Must be in its jeans. More likely the CD player in its back!

  • I'm not interested in listening...come on...I mean, it's a robot.

  • too... perfect?...

  • Hahaha at least it has good tone. It's actually a really good trumpet player, I would know, I am one lol

  • I hate to break it to you, but none of you have souls either.

  • i think all the musicians are afraid so they keep saying there isnt enough soul. Maybe there is soul you just don't hear it, sweet crunchy robot soul... hmmm

  • its amazing how theyve come this far in technology but honestly.... on a personal note

i think they should stop at some point..... im actually against so much technology, the whole idea of making ppl's life "easier" its just.... not right

  • @pau0692

    No

  • guys stfu ok it dont have a soul, theres just making new things and expiramenting different thing. It's still amazing how it can do that

  • watch?v=v9HgYHSJUP0

this is why japan builds robots

  • But the one thing that robots cannot replicate is, what's the word I'm looking for here? Oh yeah! SOUL!!!

  • so moving- such powerful expression!

    ...NOT!

still pretty sweet that it can do this. sounds way better than MIDI at least.

  • Cool, a 500 millons dollars juckebox. :) " I loveee you" hahah

  • Ah shit! One handing it!

  • This is creepy.

  • さすがはトヨタ、パクリがお上手!

    Great TOYOTA! Loves chasing after.

    (They just create copied, Always.)

  • Dehumanization process it's going on. Do you laught now¿?

    Think it...

  • ALRIGHT GUYS THE PURPOSE OF THIESE ROBOT VIDS IS TO SHOW U THAT THEY CAN MAKE ROBOTS FOR OUR DAILY LIVES.clean cook and other whatnots

  • that looks like those aliens playing the music in the bar of star wars 4. he even has the right instrument haha

  • Hehehe, I'm gonna steal one!

  • love to see where the world'd money is going to....

  • how is it doing that without lips... or air?

  • @bigcockedpenguin rubber lips

  • @bigcockedpenguin im guessing the trumpet is attached to the robot where its mouth is suppose to be, and air tunnels run through it to the trumpet ^^

  • @bigcockedpenguin the instrument is in its mouth and there is a stream of air coming into the trumpet

  • @bigcockedpenguin It'll have a flappy tensioned membrane and some form of wind being pressurised through.

  • What idiot came up with this, music is a sould past time of humanity and other ORGANIC beings..... plus we all know how easy it is to make a robot blow air into a tube......... but how well can it suck?

  • this is pretty cool, using digital systems to control things is common but the perfect mechanical systems used here would be difficult to make -to create somthing that could somehow move mechanical shutters or the like that would somehow change the airflow to create not only different notes but all the nuances of a human is quite a feat of engineering

  • ta loco, como é q consegue?

  • If they make a robot justin bieber I'm jumping off a frozen cliff..

  • ironic, song is "I just called to say I love you" from a robot?

  • that is scary O.o

  • There is one Toyota no one will trade for

  • Che strressssss..!!!!!!!! Fategli cucinare i macchieroni al ragù....secondo me non farebbe nemmeno quelli bene..!!!

  • Who agrees with me

A ROBOT CPU can never beat a HUMAN BRAIN

  • @kidasterorig111 It will eventually

  • To all the people that are worried that robots are going to replace real musicians... What do you think electronic music is? That's not T-pain's real voice, it's a computer enhanced effect. You don't think Perry is laying down tracks without huge amounts editing, do you? We got rid of humanity in popular music years ago. There aren't miniature musicians inside a DJ's kit laying the tracks down. Don't worry about robots wrecking music... you already have with your en masse lousy taste.

  • @jordopia haha thats true! lets go and thumbs up for theater then..fakes not aloud...

  • @jordopia ...sooo...what about all the other music that...doesn't use that? Or live acoustic shows...

  • Trumpet was my principal instrumet at Florida State. It probably took me 3 or 4 years before I could play as well as that robobt. Just amazing.

  • Ну прям Луисан Армстронг

  • They might not replace musicians but they will replace soldiers, doctors and law enforcement. Hopefully...

  • Maybe he could play a Turbo Supra sound ^^

  • Toyota, Honda, whats the difference, i bet it has no torque!

  • nope. not real. sorry to burst your bubble, but the required musculature is too complex to imitate with our current technology.

  • Without any emotions...

  • all i can think about is that movie ibot

  • I just realized this song is by stevie wonders; cool!

  • can somebody please tell me what song this is?

  • @XxTjRoGaNxX "I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder

  • Almost doesn't seem possible. The air flow and tension of whatever is hitting the mouthpiece have to be just right. If it is legit, it is amazing. That was a perfect G above the staff near the end.

  • make it play badinerie!

  • They could have at least picked a better song...

  • Look Out!!! His breaks dont work.!!!!

  • That`s great! WOW!)

  • no comment !!!

  • How can they have the robot do a steady vibrato like a real person??!

  • lol he should have did a star wars tune LMAOO

  • well... i know why theres a recall.. they doin this instead of makin their cars good xD

  • Will this Toyota robot run out of control and have "sudden unintended movement?" LOL jk

  • As a musician (violin), I see this as the begining of great things to come!!!

    Play On Robots!

  • LoL

    V

    V

    V

  • Playing Instruments, walk a preset number of stairs with preset height, is easy. Performing any Preset task is Easy.

What is hard is adaptation. this is something Boston Dynamics does Much better than these "Toys". Big Dog, Little Dog, and PETMAN can adapt to their environment, correct their mistakes, as well as adjust to the unexpected.

Asimo for example, would "DIE" when it encounters something not programmed. Such as falling.

  • see,..here is the thing,..yes robots can play music now,..but there is one thing they cant do and will never be able to do,..EVER,.and that is put feeling into the music,..yes its perfect,..but it is dull and it always will be,..

  • Comment removed

  • Of course! Toyota wants to show how good its pneumatic system is.

  • The sound system is the trumpet and a system to play it using air and a set of rubber lips. This is indeed legit, regardless of your inane pronouncement of it being "too complex to achieve". Having a robot walk up stairs was "too complex to achieve" until someone achieved it, too. Regardless of your personal incredulity and the illogical assumptions it makes you leap to, robots can now play trumpets.

  • @rimstrumpet

i really don't think so! I learn this cornetto thing (a pipe with holes) and know how fucked up and extremely subtle the whole question of lips' position is. Like you expressed it, i really doubt. The dork even makes vibrato --haha.

  • @rimstrumpet simple as making the robot blow air dude. you can see the robot's fingers moving

  • @rimstrumpet I agree completely. It's hard to imagine any man-made device flawlessly simulating correct embouchure. But it'll amaze you the things modern technology is capable of.

  • @rimstrumpet no. you are retarded. the only thing you use for brass is lips, which can be simulated using rubber. it is legit, and you are gay.

  • @rimstrumpet too complex for a machine? all you need to do is to program it. It could take months, but all you need to do is program every movement. Everything in this world is calculations my friend... There is nothing mystic about the human body and its capabilities, we are just formulas.

  • @rimstrumpet omg... they told me they made something in the robots mouth to blow air at cirtain strengths as well as vibrations... not a complex muscle system!

  • @rimstrumpet Who says that there ir a correct embouchere to play???

  • That thing makes a better tone and more accurate pitching than 90% of humans who ever pick up the trumpet.

  • This made me cum(not literally)

  • BOO!

Can we please try not to let this replace TRUE musicians?

  • @ProKzaine

    i agree :)

  • @ProKzaine yeah this is the kind of stuff that makes true musicians feel like crap! some things in this world does not need to be run by robots!!

  • @ProKzaine - It's kind of already there since people use auto-tune and Japan now has vocaloids. It's kind of the same thing, I guess..

  • @ProKzaine

Why not? They are just replaced by us in modern music. The samples, loops and all that electronical stuff. Let them improve the robots. If real musicians are truly better, they will prove it.

    The power of human mind.

  • @ProKzaine These musicians robots arent meant to replace them. They are showing u how they can make robots that can do many things. Clean cook etc

  • i'm amazed, i wonder how it does it vibratos, it plays with such soul too lol

  • hey thats cool, but lets hope humans wont use robots in warfare,

  • nice but it just isnt the same without a human behind that horn cranking it like all trumpets love to do

  • wth. xD

  • i saaw this vidio in school today i was freaking out lol

  • is this even possible?

  • [eargasm]

  • Delfint és bálnát esznek és az édesanyjukkal szerelmeskednek.

  • Pretty soon, American companies will no longer outsource their jobs overseas. They will just fire everyone and use robots. They will produce inferior products but there's nothing consumers can do, because the complaint hotlines are also manned by robots! When one demands to talk to the manager, the phone call will be transfered... to a robot manager. And so on.

This will happen sooner than you imagined.

  • and then we block out the sun and they star harvesting us for enrgy

  • I think it still's very far away from what a human can do with real lungs, lips, fingers and whatever, i don't like this robot.

  • interesting, but entirely lacks soul. so let's not replace our musicans with robots.

  • soul? come on. in a few years, that statement will be completely _overriden_.

  • @blacklungsjoe Musicians have already been replaced by robots, they're called samplers and synthesizers. I'm sure you've heard of them, they're all over modern "music".

  • @beyondthegrave2005 Right and their putting musicians out of work

  • @beyondthegrave2005 and autotune and drum machines!

  • @blacklungsjoe not to be rude...but i believe it is made to show the advancements of robots over the years.

  • @blacklungsjoe

Soul can be easily be implemented in two more years, no ghost in the machine there.

  • Think back 50 years when things like this wouldnt even have been dreamed of. This truly is amaizing.

  • That's insane.....

  • Fuck this gay ass shit. HUMAN TRUMPET PLAYERS FTW!!!!!!!! Bergeron, Vizzutti, Severinsen, Andre, Hardenberger, Mcnab, Baptist.

  • I think you miss the point.

  • wooaah!

  • T_____________________________T

    amazing :D

  • next step, wireless midi. robots will play our instruments, and will be programmed to add expression to the music. amazing, and yet crushing to my soul.

  • They will never have that. The human element is f*cking up something accidentally then realizing you just made something sound more musical

  • lol true

  • fake

  • You know what the difference between this and ASIMO is? Their is none! They are both programed to do task.

  • And we're not?

  • Well I suppose it depends on how you view humans. We are taught basic task, but over time we learn and respond to different forums of input. So in a way you are right.

    Touche.

  • I think it's stupid to create a bipedal robot and demo it by having it stand still and do something it could have done on tracks or just a torso.

  • I don't see how a robot can create the "buzz" you need to make a sound come out of a brass instrument.

  • it has lips made of silicon

  • That iz amazing and disturbing at the same time!

  • That iz amazing and disturbing at the same time!

  • why does sound familiar. i swear i think i've heard that before somewhere...

  • I just called to say I love you - Stevie Wonder

  • pero tira aire o no???? RESPUESTAS!!

but this blows air this is a record?????

    ANSWERS PLEASE IM GETTING CRAZY!...

  • Here I can hear asian trumpet player's musical taste too.

I wonder if French people make a robot, would it sound like Maurice Andre? :)

  • Comment removed

  • one thing i dont get is why people say this is fake. i went to japan with my grandma and there really are robots like this modell there, and the japanese have been using humanoid robots in a wide range since 2003. i dont get how this is fake. it is like the robo sapien toy, but it controlls its actions using a pre set of commands and internal controlls along with recognized voice and data input commands. it is real and is acctually quite ammusing

  • superb....hah when was the last time you heard that?

  • Because the news never lies....

  • this isnt fake u idiots.. it wEnt on TEh News..

  • Lmao....

  • Fake, sorry.

  • you can tell it's fake because the notes your supposed to use the third valve slide on aren't sharp. (it doesn't use the slide)

  • go look it up "Toyota developed artificial lips that move with the same finesse as human lips, which, together with robots` hands, enables the robots to play trumpets like humans do." from toyota site

  • That has nothing to do with the slide movement. No matter how crazy awesome the lips are, the trumpet itself is always going to be out of tune on certain notes, especially those that require the first and third valve, like low D. To make up for it, players use the third valve slide. Although I didn't check myself if the robot played a note using the third valve slide, I'm making it clear that your arguement is totally and completely invalid.

  • do you not think that the robot can make the change in embrechure needed to make that note in tune?

  • My comment above, "go look it up" is not an argument. The rest of it was a quote from the Toyota site so I don't see how MY argument is "totally and completely invalid" when I never even had an argument in the first place. I never even said that you were right or wrong. All I was trying to show was that the trumpet was playing. I never said it was in tune or not in tune. If you have a problem with a robot playing a trumpet, then go talk to Toyota.

  • Unless that thing has lips with muscle articulation there is no way this is real. You can't just blow air into a trumpet and make it sound. The sound comes from "buzzing" your lips.

  • it's real there's a few websites showing how they do it.

  • music is also about passion just because the robot is playing it thts pointless

  • Dude, its not about the music, its about the fact that they were able to get a robot to play the trumpet.

  • A human trumpet player is always going to sound better because of the emotion and passion we're able to have.

  • unless your blind and couldnt tell the difference

  • A human trumpet player is always going to sound better because of the emotion and passion we're able to have ?

Go look up that Stacey Hedger Girl playing Star Wars on the trumpet and then tell us again that a human is always going to sound better lol!

  • so japanese

  • so now robots can play music, dance, cook food and loads more!

    Next stop - sex robots

  • yay!

  • oh please it probably just has a speaker in the back of his head lmao

lol all jokes aside thats pretty cool

  • yeah, so it can make sound. pretty good sound at that.

it will never have soul though.

  • ok if this is so amazing since when do robots have lungs ????

  • How old are you?

  • Do you think you could take one of them camping?

  • I would be so dam frecked out if i saw that in my house but since its not sweet
