What's cheaper? Getting vbulletin or getting phpbb + webhosting at webmaster and having to pay additional fees for SSL, spams etc? I'm asking, because it seems like with webhosting, they ask if you want to buy SSL, SEO when vbulletin can provide you with those free.
it wouldn't let me create an account. I wish there was a short version of this. I'm just in lazy mode right now though. To lazy to sit threw it atm. I want to learn the coding myself to input in my own style of forum. Create my own. Not threw other websites. Do you know of any places I can get that info?
What's the catch with Website Palace? I took a look at it and the prices are a jaw dropping low! almost only $2.00 for a domain FOR ONE YEAR. GoDaddy is $10....Why all the low prices??
Thanks so much for this, this was excellent. When I purchase I will be going through your affiliate link. I am also going to your site websitebabble. Great Work!
Oh, I have a question too. On vBulletin, they have two plans for you to choose from: First there's 4.0 Forum (which is about 200$) and then there's 4.0 Publishing Suite (around 300$). I don't really understand what's the difference. Is it just for posting news or Blogs? Does it increase your capability of changing your forum? Thanks in advance!
i use phpbb3 at the moment, whats your thought on bbpress? im thinking of installing bbpress to my buddypress wp mu, installation. Would it be smart to use bbpress or stay phpbb3? With my phpadmin?
Not without additional costs. If you want a forum with SBI! it's really best to also get a subscription to a regular host and map that forum to your SBI domain (there are instructions). It's because of the SiteSell technical limitations.
Ok not to write little.... Idd forums are really popular and i would suggest you for free forum to install My Board aka MyBB and you can find really NICE templates (they are still new tho they will be really good in few years)also phpBB is good...
NOW if you want true pro forum buy either Invision Power Board or vBulletin like lisa showed you ;) ( i like more IPB :D)

Hey Lisa, I currently have 2 sites. one for business, and one informational. However, i'm using network solutions to host. Do you know of any pros and or cons using them vs any other? What considerations should be taken into account when researching host sites?
Other than the fact they are one of the most expensive hosts out there, there's nothing wrong with them. They are a reputable company and one of the first hosting companies. These days, hosts offer very similar features, so it really comes down to reputation and price. Hostgator is one of my faves. You can host multiple domains with one account.
for the license that i have to purchase in order to get vbulletin, does this mean i have to renew the license after a specific amount of time. is it possible to buy the application without have to renew... i'm confused.. lol... can you explain this in a nutshell for me. is the renewing only to receive the updates? it doesnt explain this clearly on their site.
You can buy it and not renew after a year but you won't be able to get the latest versions anymore. vBulletin is always coming out with new upgrades/versions so paying the renewal will always give you access to the latest. The renewal is only like $30 or $40 I believe.
You have to renew it every year if you want to keep getting the product updates/upgrades and it's like $30 something per year. But you don't have to keep renewing. I always do though because they are constantly improving the forum features.
Lisa, I want to thank you. Your advice from 2createawebsite really helped me, and I've received my first Google Adsense check. I should be getting my second one soon! Thank you Thank You Thank You!!!

That's partially why I prefer cPanel hosts. They have the most features, providing you know how to use them. Although it costs a host $2500 to put cPanel on their server...
That's what I explained near the beginning. The company I recommended here has the one-click install. It just took me a while to get to that point. LOL
Excuse me, I wish to know how to set up a discussion board on YouTube so that others can come to me and discuss their views on a situation.

Can i Do This For Blogger D0t c0m
iSpeakApple 3 years ago
No, blogger is not a web host. It only supports blogs. You need a standard web hosting (Linux) plan in order to setup a forum.
lisa3876 3 years ago
Normally any good hosting service will provide you with a good forum tool just one click away. But I still love the tutorial.
