  • @HeLeX63 When lubricant is cold oil film isn't working as it should, oil is also less runny so it doesn't reach all spots, especially at higher revs, so it's asking for trouble. Also some engine parts expand slightly when they're hot (pistons, piston rings etc) so they reach optimal working conditions when engine is warmed up.

  • well as long as its reasonably lubricated should be ok, try doing it when the cars been sitting for a few months and all the oils sitting in the sump, LOLOL. But yeah engine lubricates better when oils warmed up and less viscous, and once warmed up the pistons are expanded from the heat reducing the piston to cylinder bore clearance thus, reducing the impact of the piston against the cylinder wall and its resulting noise.

  • All turbo cars have waste gates to control the maximum boost pressure. The bov is to recirculate/release boost (to eliminate compressor surge) when the throttle body is closed. They are not mutually exclusive.

  • Revving a cold 93-96 Subaru ej20 engine stock probably would have no effects on it. Revving a modified Subaru ej20 when its cold, it may foul the plugs or stall until you cut it off and let it sit. Subaru's do have blow off valves. If you are replacing the stock blow off valve to get one that is re-circular or re-circular and atmospheric. If you don't have the ecu tuned, an atmospheric blow off valve will cause the car to run rich and stall. I'm not talking out my head. I own a 95 'Scooby'

    It runs a little rich but I believe thats very common for all Subs.

  • to all you ppl the turbine wouldnt cook the oil since subaru started liquid cooling its turbine bearings with liquid in the early 90's. also the engine red line is like 9k so reving to 5-6k wouldnt do substancial damage.

I think when the liquids are cold they are a lot thicker and so they can't reach some places so the turbo is wearing out a lot faster, even if you don't rev it up to the redline. Correct me if I'm wrong.
