I'm a young aspiring artist (age 17) and although I've been drawing seriously since I was about 9 years old, I've never seen a method like yours before. It makes so much more sense than any method I have learned. Thank you so much for providing your knowledge for free. It's so refreshing to see something like this, where you aren't trying to sell anything! (although I might just buy the dvd!!) -Caroline
ps. do you have any colored pencil tutorials? or will you consider making some? thanks!
Just to save you some time in the future, when you use your triangle (or ruler) to square your paper to the board you are drawing on, make a referance line on the board so that you can use it for the next drawing you do.
What if I don't have an image up close; and no access to a printer; wouldn't I need a different method into sketching that picture, then he is showing in the video? O:
@slinky400 Na mate. Its an artist impression of a real life object. Its only copying a picture if its something that has already been drawn/painted by another artist
@oriolarumi A projector does have its shortfalls. You can forget to draw in some parts of the picture, The projector could move and the lines that it projects can be very blurred when enlarged to a high degree. I've got a Braun Paxiscope and it's not a bad tool but I've also tried this method by Darrel and it seems very accurate.
Its VERY annoying to have to have the photo in ONE position, if it is, I have to keep moving around the table while drawing.

I use painters tape (the blue kind) and it works pretty well on delicate paper. Just a tip.

I use carpenter pencils for layout it's faster =) Then tighten it up with a pilot s 3 drafting pencil. Regular pencil work but you fight them =)
