So many unkind comments from critics. So man rude jokes. So many said his time has come and gone. Over 135,000 people have watched this in 2012! Why? Because it's what the people like, not the newspapers! He had a huge talent. Also, he had a great on- stage personality. Love this guy!

There are 3 entatiners in the world who I always admired & think that they were the best in the world at what they were born to do, Liberace, Michael Jackson, & Sammy Davis Jr. all with unbleivable God given talent's RIP guy's
@CityofDestiny Liberace plays the theme from the film "Exodus" followed by "More" which is the theme from the Italian film "Mondo Cane." You've probably heard Bobby Darin's version of "More." Lee finishes with "Alley Cat."
What year of the 60's was this episode from do you know?I think it was kewl..I truly enjoyed it.....Lee and Uncle Milty looked like they had a blast together not to mention the awesome music by Lee..ty for sharing this!!! Merry Christmas!!
Entertainers pay good money to use song writers songs and pay a lot of Royalties unless the music is in Public Domain. after that either they arrange it or an arranger makes it stylized to that entertainer. For instance, Fred Astaire introduced more standards than any singer of that time period. But he had good arrangers Gershswin and Conrad Salinger to name a few. Look at the credits of movies sometime and you will see that info listed there on any movie with music involved.
I was privileged to see Lee at the London Palladium around this time in the 60s. He was simply sensational.
At the end of his 'sell out season' he bought the entire company, orchestra and all the theatre staff, including the cleaners, incredibly expensive farewell presents.

What a lovely guy. He was a real inspiration to entertainers all over the world. I wish the pap would have let this guy die in peace...but like everything in his life....it was over the top......class act all the way
There are two keys to the door of music. One is dedication and the other is love. Liberace dedicated his every performance to his audiences with love.
He was a kind and gentle man and should be remembered as such!
Right. Setting aside the OBVIOUS talent, which he had in spades and the gay stuff, no one cares about that anymore, what really set him apart was the combinaton of this garish, larger-than-life ostentatious stage persona with a genuine human warmth for people that was honestly heartfelt...
I think he got more famboyant in the 1970's, as it was now acceptable to be eccentric or outrageous. He had to keep his personality toned down a bit during the more conservative 50's and early 60's.
What a wonderfully talented man Liberace was. We watched his TV show faithfully and loved seeing him wink at the end of "I'll Be Seeing You". Was there any kind of music he couldn't - or didn't play? All the music in this video is so beautiful and his dance routine with Uncle Miltie is lots of fun. I cried when he passed away knowing that such wonderful talent was silenced forever. Thanks for posting this.
(2of2)There never has been and never will be anyone like him, I miss his style and his wonderful personality. Forget the gay crap, I have a lot of friends who are and they treat me better than many of the straight people I know. I hope the person who gave him AIDS has trouble sleeping at night. God bless Lee and I'm sure he's playing piano in Heaven.
1of2)Gees I can't believe some of the controversy on these videos. Liberace was classicaly trained, his parents didn't want him to wind up entertaining and playing like he did. They wanted him to be a concert pianist but Lee didn't want that, he wanted to entertain the people, he loved his audience.
What is the problem with being homosexual? Didn't God make people in the image of him?
And as God loves both men and women he must therefore be Bisexual, which I am guessing is something you disaprove of too in the same way. Does it affect you so much that two men may fall in love that you have to grow a dislike to them. And I thought you are meant to love your neighbour and treat others like you would like to be treated. I don't think you would liek to be abused for being yourself and brave.
I just happen stumble on to this site and YES I do remember this GREAT performer I was 16 yrs old when i 1st heard him onTV theres no one this good today ,I truly miss him
Never reads any sheet music? Not while he played live, but he did read sheet music. He took not only private lessons at an early age, he went to the Wisconsin School of Music for 17 years. He did not play by ear, but with his knowledge, he could improvise, which is what he did. The only correct thing you said was that he puts the players today to shame.
Well, if you want to be that detailed. No one is watching him play when he was studying is there? I don't know anyone was a born pianist. Of course I was only taking about his live performance, what else? I would add Friedrich Gulda to list of the player that doesn't read sheet music LIVE.
With the exception of a very few classical pianists, I have never seen anyone else read sheet music while performing "live". I am sorry that misenterputed your statement. I worked with a guy who insisted that Liberace NEVER took a lesson in his life. When I tried to correct him, as usual, he was right and would not believe me. And yes, he was an amazing player!
Talent like that is God-given, I stand in awe of that. The fact that he rose to such heights of fame at a time when the world was so extremely homophobic is remarkable, a true testament to the power of true talent. Those arrangements were uniquely his, nobody else arranged that music, and it still sounds good today (well most of it) RIP, Lee, I hope you are playing a big ole' mirrored grand in Heaven !
i dont have any idea that he was this great.before when i havent seen him perform i find it ridiculous to know that he's the biggest paid performer in the whole world.but thanks to you tube i finally had the chance to see him perform and i must say that this kind of talent comes only every once in a century.
The song Exodus was made popular to the world in 1961 when duo-pianists Ferrante and Teicher recorded it and it went to #2 on the charts for many weeks. Check them out here on Youtube! I love Liberace's rendition of More in this medley.
I also love Liberace's rendition of "More", too. I use to have that song by him on an old album and played it constantly. It seemed longer to me then, but is was not included in a medley either.
I have never heard him play this arrangement on any recorded music. Are you sure it was this, and if so, which album? I have him playing More on other recordings, but they are much different than this one, sadly.
Liberace recorded "More" on the following albums: 'The Best of Liberace' (1966); 'I'll Be Seeing You' (1968);and 'Liberace Plays Golden Themes from Hollywood' (1963). It was the same song but longer since it was not included in a medley.
I still do not believe it is the same arrangement as the one in the video. I love this version, with all the embellishments and arpeggios. The ones I have heard on albums are renditions of More, but I have not heard anyone come close to this. I wish they had. His rendition of TENDERLY is also wonderful. I have both the sheet music by him for that as well as the recordings.
I have to echo keyboardmagics comments on this rendition of this song. I grew up listening to Lee's music. I always enjoy listening to his music. But once you realize that it's something that you truly love you can't help but love it.
But to be honest with you, keyboardmagic is my Mom too. Growing up listening to Lee it's not hard to love his music.
Thank you for bringing Liberace back into our lives. I remember when he was on TV. He was an outstanding showman. I've seen him in concert several times. He was above all a SHOWMAN. Thanks again.
He was?????? SO WHAT and thanks for going from post to post to tell everyone! Most everyone already knows this, his fans DO NOT CARE ONE IOTA, and regardless, the man had a God-given talent which is so lacking in many performers today.
I also forgot to add that were it not for an overzealous coroner from Riverside county trying to make a name for himself, Liberace's sexual preference would likely have never made the news.
A wonderful medley by an extraordinary pianist and showman. I knew Liberace for many years, had a fan club for him, worked for the Liberace Museum and was invited to many of his opening night parties and receptions. He was truly one of the kindest persons you would ever want to meet. I will never forget him or his beautiful music.
We all should be so lucky to have the talent that this man had. I heard say that he wasn't good enough to be a concert pianist. Well you could have fooled me. Perhaps he didn't have the desire to be a concert pianist. He certainly could play the piano and no one can take that away from him. He probably had more fun than a concert pianist.
He certainly had everything needed to be a concert pianist. I think that's true - he didn't have the desire to be one. I also think in every concert pianist there is a Liberace trying to get out! I think he was an extraordinary player and a wonderful human being!
I had the great honour of staying in Liberace's Palm Springs home during my visits to the States in the early nineties. I wrote a memoir about my time there titled "A Sequin of Events" which can be found in the Tribute pages of my website on the internet. He was a wonderful human being.
He was always been criticized by media left and right. He's nothing but a flambouyant no originality etc pianist. When asked what he feels to what was said about him, he was made famous by his remark, "I cried all the way to the bank!"
I totally agree Jake, my wife and I were in Vegas and stopped by his museum, from what I could see he was very giving and just a very kind person. On another note I remember seeing this small "walk of fame" outside the museum (each sidewalk square gave facts, figures etc.) one of the ones I wish I remembered was something about the record most notes played in a given amount of time...anyone recall those figures?
Send an email to his museum; Theyll have info on it! He also had the worlds record for the most money paid to a performer for a single performance!
$ 650,000. Can you immagine the practice it takes to become that proficient! AND; he had everything memorized in all his performances! His orchestra backups always were reading music sheets !
!!!!!Super Magnifique!!!!! Superbe, Liberace un Grands des Grands, on avait tous ses disque chez nous et on les avait perdus tous, et Voila!! on retrouve ces super Videos que on peut voir tout ces spectacles sur YouTube Magnifique n'est pas?
I'm glad Milton Berle mentioned Liberace's role in "The Loved One", in which he played an unctuous coffin salesman -- he's a hoot! But it's a hard film to find. I hope someone has it and will post the Liberace segment.
WOW and WOW AGAIN And again and again!!FANTABULOUS! THE GREAT AND ONE AND ONLY LIBERACE is so relaxed while playing all the superb melodies.Liberace has been blessed with God-given talent. We will miss you..
Lad this man had a talent well beyond most aperdgio reflex players and a jounrey, , his talent is now accademic which frustrates all small to medium boned key pouncers, , i miss him as well
Wow.. how many times I had to see Liberace when I lived in Las Vegas...but didn't... how dreadful... thanks for sharing these great clips. Truly enjoyable!
1962, I was 10 years old, my mother forced me to go see Liberace at the Los Angeles Shriner's auditorium. I was spellbound for the entire show, he really was "Mr. Showmanship", anyone says they don't like him is an asshole.
Thanks showmanlee for posting all these great clips. It seems (to me) that most of his stuff in the 80's that is readily available (and I have plenty of) are the same tunes over and over. It is wonderful to see some of Lee's older stuff posted here so we can all see clips pre 1980 and some of his different works. I love this stuff!!!
hahaha well i remember being entranced the first time i saw him, and wanting to be able to play piano just like him, my father was well worried as he was homophobic....

And I will add made more money playing than most concert pianist.

He certainly had everything needed to be a concert pianist. I think that's true - he didn't have the desire to be one. I also think in every concert pianist there is a Liberace trying to get out! I think he was an extraordinary player and a wonderful human being!

He was a fully trained concert pianist, but he didnt want to be like the rest, he wnated to be different and that he was.

MightySaturn5 4 years ago
Send an email to his museum; Theyll have info on it! He also had the worlds record for the most money paid to a performer for a single performance!
$ 650,000. Can you immagine the practice it takes to become that proficient! AND; he had everything memorized in all his performances! His orchestra backups always were reading music sheets !

I'm glad Milton Berle mentioned Liberace's role in "The Loved One", in which he played an unctuous coffin salesman -- he's a hoot! But it's a hard film to find. I hope someone has it and will post the Liberace segment.

1962, I was 10 years old, my mother forced me to go see Liberace at the Los Angeles Shriner's auditorium. I was spellbound for the entire show, he really was "Mr. Showmanship", anyone says they don't like him is an asshole.

The tunes were performed in this order, Theme from
Exodus, More, Alley Cat, and Chicago (with the Chicago lyric changed to Hollywood by the skit arrangers).

I remember when he was on TV in the 1950's. My Mom always was watching him. My Dad thought he was gay.
