I started my Chet Chanel here on Youtube to see that his music is never forgotten, and then there those lie yourself who ensure that it will never die as you play it live just like Chet. You totally nailed the first part of the song. At 48 years old, I just bought my first guitar. You are an inspiration. Finger-style is definitely where its at. IMHO there are many guitar players who are famous, who don't have half of the skill that you do... Keep on picki'n, play'in 'n posti'n... and it all will fall into place...

I just don't know how you got it so quick. In 1957 I was stationed in DC ..USAF, and went all over town looking for Chet's "Back Home in Indiana" Had to buy the whole album. I'll bet you play that better than I ever did (had the small CA Gretsch with the leather binding at that time,,,, haven't see one in years except old video of Chet playing "Tennessee Rag")

Theres a lot of folks out there there playing in Chets style, but this girls really has something special.. the touch the tone the timing very very nice.

I think you are right about the backing track, afterall chet used them alot. I am impressed with the ease you played the difficult parts in the song. A friendly advice would be to concentrate on the melody as you do very well and create your own licks and add them to do this lovely tune. This would it make it more personal. But again very good!

That was perfect as far as I'm concerned. It's interesting to note that I just see a ton of improvement in very little time and I think it's great that you are starting to do all the improvision Chet used to do. I guess that comes from playing music since age 4 and knowing theory and being able to read music and knowing the guitar fingerboard.

I could have been listening to Chet on grand old oprey 50 years ago as far as I'm concerned. Keep up the good work.

HI Gretschen. Great playing as always. I love this atkins tune. I noticed you keep your left thumb on the neck almost constantly. The same goes for John Knowles, but not Chet, Thom, Doyle, or Tommy. I noticed that TE plays his fast licks with the thumb released from the neck. Just an idea for your future improvements. 5 stars.
