WEB : In 1969, radical feminist Marlene Dixon, a sociology professor at the University of Chicago, declared: "The institution of marriage is the chief vehicle for the perpetuation of the oppression of women; it is through the role of wife that the subjugation of women is maintained. In a very real way the role of wife has been the genesis of women's rebellion throughout history."
My apartment has WAY LESS square footage than that. with no outbuildings... just a tiny deck. But my house seems incredibly MORE spacious than that. That house is not tiny.
Im from the suburbs and even though you live in a nice home in a nice neighborhood if you are fighting with your family everyone is yelling and screaming about money and there problems its like you cant really enjoy the nice things you do have. I wish i could move to a place like this where i could have a small house with a art studio. Im finding smaller is better and im from Texas where everything is bigger is better.
regarding the ten children in one room comment: if all you have is one room to live in DON'T HAVE TEN CHILDREN! why would someone have that many children if they can not afford to house them? solution to poverty: DO NOT HAVE MORE CHILDREN THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO SUPPORT!
@sunsweetsuitable well, i guess when the government comes and takes my large comfortable house (that i live in alone) and gives it to a welfare whore with ten kids, and takes my suv away and makesmeride a bicycle instead, then i guess we will be living in your versionof paradise. no more third world poverty, no more hunger. everyone will be equal.screw personal responsibility, thats the stuff that conservative a-holes like me spew.i dont need to travel to a third world country, it's coming here.
@carryclass roflmao sometimes its fun to comment cause ppl are pre-programmed to be hateful. welfare whore lol. dude stop judging and open your heart. i love you and know what you are doing with your life is what you are suppose to be doing. hmm just thought of this. are you lonely? if you ever just need a friend im here?
@carryclass Oh, NO!! It is their RIGHT to have children that you and I can PAY FOR!! The schools give them the Adderal and Indoctrination, the parents" drop them at the mall, and we give them free lunches and groceries via SNAP!! Why would you think that personal responsibility would factor here?Oh, yes, Responsibility is a more than 2 syllable word, the common Liberal / Socialist?obamatron would not understand!!
My only beef about this video is with the lady's statement that "somehow we need to change" the fact that some people maintain excessively large houses while others in the world live 10 to a room. Living in too large a house may be stupid, and wasteful from an economic point of view, but to say "we need to change" this implies the use of legislative force or socialist coercion, which seems to me anathema to the very liberty I think these good folks hold dear. People are wising up on their own.
@StringDancerCom I think when she said "we need to change" it was from the viewpoint of a behavioral change, not a bureaucratic one. Pointing out that something is not working as well as it should does not imply that one is offering to completely systematize and force the solution onto others. Clearly this couple is about the choice to be made, wanting others to be more conscious of world problems is no worse than wanting everyone to drive safe on the road... no sin in that imo
@BlueStrikeP - Good point. I suppose this particularly precarious point in history gets me a little edgy. I look for ways to live more simply and reduce my carbon footprint because to me that only makes sense, not because I'm guilted into it. I'm wary of imposed top-down solutions that would probably lead to even more tyranny. Things such as the cap & trade carbon tax, IMO, is just another excuse for elitist control. People should be free to be stupid until they learn better on their own.
What a fucking shit hole! That house could be so cute, i dont care how old you are LET SOME STUFF GO! Everytime u bring something new home, you are supposed to get rid of something
@oceansoflovewi What a rude comment- no-one asked for your "expert opinion" . All that matters is that THEY like where they live- nobody cares about your personal tastes or your bachelors in interior design. Different strokes for different folks- that's what makes the world go round.
I love your home and would love to built a tiny home for me and my son. Would like to find some land I could rent and someone to help me built a home. i live in CA. close to PV and the homes up here are so big.... 5 bedroom and only 2 people living in them... what a shame! . If you know of any dirt cheap land up were u are...let me know. I have looked at some container home ideas and WOw! they are nice! keep up the good work, can't wait to see if you do anything to your container.
It's actually quite a nice house on the inside. I like how it's just one big room for the most part. Nice and open and welcoming, I would totally love to live in a house this size.
America is in a sink hole.. We cant live like we did in the 1950's.. Live small and you also can live big... No Mortgage no strings.. It is like the old saying the things you own end up owning you... I built my own home it is 350 sq feet and at the end of the day I have what most dont.. My own home..
@Iemota21 If only we lived like we did in the 1950's. Sure they were striving for more, but the average 5 person home was still just 1100 sq ft. Now its almost double. We were also content with hand washing our clothes or using a laundry mat. I agree with the sentiment of what you said, I'm just pointing out how much worse we have become since the 50s!
@DOA966 Right on - I live in a half of a duplex built in 1955. Two bedrooms, one bath, and overall probably not a lot of space to have to worry about. If I had a shipping container for storage and projects like the couple in this video, we could do without the second bedroom.

Very cluttered. How could they live that way???

I'm sure other people are curious. I just looked up the cost of a shipping container: 1500 to 2000 US$.

oh thats great...I just noticed yesterday how the cats climb down a ladder
when my cat did....I would rather have a compact place like that than our big
block of land that is getting harder to maintain. Theres something honest and cute
about houses where you have just the basics. Too many in this world worship
their homes + gardens.
