I liked the band with Perry too but those days are gone. Arnel does an awesome job and I've never seen a band go on like Journey has after their legendary singer left. What a testament to the old guys (lol). Must be a reason this band that has been around forever continues to sell out arenas around the world. It's because they still have it.. and so does Arnel. Not only is he a great singer but he's a great guy with an uplifting story to tell. Perfect match if you ask me.

This is the same argument as Van Hagar. Sammy was a new chapter, not a replacement. They just happened to go platinum after Roth, it happens. Arnel is good, real good, but don't expect the past. If you get a chance, try the reconstituted Foreigner and Styx with new front men -- really impressive. None of their new stuff makes it to radio but who cares, these "new" bands with old names are worth seeing live.

I really think Arnel Pineda is the man for the job. He was able to keep the element of the band, the Journey 'spirit' of sorts. And at the same time, he added his own unique features in it. It's not just simply about Steve Berry anymore. It's about a new era of Journey, with Arnel and so much more. No one can really measure either Arnel or Steve with such accuracy, they're two different singers with distinct styles. Arnel can be a lead that can measure up to Steve, maybe more. Give him a chance.

Let me break down the facts for all the ignorant people. Steve was/is great. No doubt. New singer is also great. Fact. As far as him sounding like steve - of course he does!! A voice is an instrument too. The band should want him to sound like steve just like if you replace a lead guitarist in a band, you don't change all the guitar parts and make them sound different...
