On a mac it is something like this:

new Formatter("/Users/yourname/Doc­uments/workspace/buckys_lesson­s/test.txt");

uhh... you'll have to change "yourname" into something that makes more sense to you from a semantical point of view if you catch my drift ;-)

I can't find it now, but I saw one video where you put "%d" inside a string, and it worked as sort of variable or whatever. Could anyone please explain it, or link a tutorial that does?

Linux and all other operating systems are forward slash.  Plus you can use forward slashes in windows so you don't need to escape.

just a FYI windows uses / for file paths too. It converts \ to / for users. So in JAVA just use / for all file paths, windows or not :)
