Watched it when I couldn't think of anything else to do. Always hated it. Hated Grange Hill too. I hate anything with children being smart arses in it. I also hate silly dramas about drugs and unconventional families where there is a lone retard parent with no legs looking after 16 orphans from around the world. used to love the characters in this show, my 2 favs i still remember and really liked back then, claire and nikki gawd those where the days haha watching those 2, but byker an area in Newcastle hasnt really got a very good reputation though its not as bad as some other areas, but only been out drinking in Cramlington and Ashington, 2 villages above Newcastle with my family and some of their friends who are now my friends its funny what we do though!!

ive been around the area this is supposedly set, seen the building I dont know what it actually is but they really do use it for something I think its a real youth club so they just used to film outside, its an area in Newcastle called Byker funnily enough, my dads side of my family are all from Newcastle, if I was born a week earlier id have been a legit geordie!

The building is "The Mitre" or "Benwell Tower" and it's not in Byker, it's in Benwell, Newcastle Upon Tyne. It is an old 19th century building and use to a pub/club before Zenith Television bought it for Byker Grove in 1989. Sometime after Byker Grove ended Zenith went bankrupt. The building has been up for sale for some time now, last time I checked it was worth £800,000.
