Neil Young is a visionary and I count myself among his followers. Hell, I grew up in the same city as he did (Winnipeg). Yes, they were different life experiences, but if you know what living on the Prairies is like then you'll understand what it means to be at the centre of everything, but in the middle of nowhere at the same time.

I am 56 y/o and have seen Neil do this many times in concert. Just like I have been lucky enough to see people like Jackson Browne, Springsteen, Dylan, SRV, Allmans, Zep, Mark Knopfler, Merle Haggard------the list goes on. I always look at it as a tribute when the "young" cover the "old" ------the spirit of the music lives on

Neil Young was sitting right behind him when he played this, and Young let him use the very piano that the song was written on. There's no rules playing covers and when the original artist gives you the blessing to play (Thom asked him that day if it was alright), you can play it however you wish.

I think that somebody wants to cover your song is compliment enough. When you cover a song, it's not to better it, it's to recreate it to honour the song because you love it. I mean, I don't dislike this cover because I love the original and this sounds just like it. I think it'd be a lot more interesting if they altered it a bit more to sound more like Radiohead.
