THANKS FOR ANS. BACK RIGHT NOW IF I WERE IN CHURCH MY CONGREGATION WOULD BE DANCING . WE DO IT WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVES US. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. GOD IS AWESOME. KEEP UP PLAYING FOR HIM. YOU WILL MAKE ALOT OF PEOPLE FEEL CLOSE TO HIM PLAYING THAT SONG . MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU. GOD BLESS. POLYWOG690
@polywog690 Thanks for the comment and compliment. It is an encouragement to me. The Lord gives his church (believers) gifts. Other people have gifts that I cannot do. All believers are part of the body of Christ and have a needed function to encourage one another as you have done, and to present the gospel to a lost world.
Great playing, though the speaker does not cut it... it makes the Hammond sound as some sort of barrel organ you hear at festivals and fairs. Not good.... but great playing nonetheless.
@SilverHammond Thanks for the comment. I agree! The gyrophonic speakers are not as good as the Leslie. I wanted to try give people an idea what they sound like so they will know to buy a Leslie instead of a gyrophonic. I have an extra 122 Leslie I can hook to this organ. When my work slows down, I'll see about doing it again with the Leslie 122.
@MrBenni77 The Leslie speakers in my opion sound better than the gyrophonic speakers. The trumpets that rotate on your Leslie speaker throw the sound all around the room. On the gyrophonic speaker, the speakers rotate on a disc but are always facing the same direction. They do not produce the deep vibrato sound as the Leslie speakers do. If you ever post anything with your Hammond, let me know. I would like to see it!
@MrBenni77 Thanks, the speakers that are rotating are called gyrophonic speaker that were made by the Allen Organ company. They have a different sound than a leslie but still nice. The song, "Winter Wonderland" shows another set of gyrophonic speakers.
Awesome. Seriously brings tears to my eyes. My dad really loved this song, alas I could never play it on a keyboard instrument but on a guitar instead. My brother is an adept keyboardist though.
@Kekik79 Thanks for the comment. I have never heard this song on the guitar but I'm sure is sounds great. Maybe you would upload a video of you playing it sometime. I like guiter music but only know the G and D chord very slowly.
I play for a church, and I would love to have a Leslie Simulator as we do not have a Leslie speaker. Are there places to get them cheap? I would also like to know what registration you used, but I found a similar registration written on the arrangement by David Koop -- which is why I suspected it must be the same song.
@Zylstra555 I bought the Leslie simulator from eBay. I think I paid around $180.00 for it. I get my influence from the local Southern Gospel pianist like Jack Badon, Jack Rouse, and Toby Price and worked up an arrangement the way I thought these guys would do it. I enjoy watching these guys play.
@Zylstra555 I didn't use any known arrangement. That is the way it turned out. Every time I play a song, it is never the same. I must have been it a "Jazzy" mood that day.
OMG, THAT'S A HAMMOND CONCERT MODEL E! I've been searching for one of the for years! This is the first I've seen of one on YT (might want to add the model in the tags or discription). THanks. Can you post more of the model E & it's features (given it's still available)
@ThatsABiggon I'm glad you like the Model E. I have a two more clips at this time using the Model E. One is "Around The World In Eighty Days" and the other is "I Want The Light From The Lighthouse To Shine On Me". I have recently added string bass on the Model E and I hope to be able to add MIDI to it. I haven't got that part figured out yet. I guess it is time for me to post another song with this organ since it has been a while. Keep checking my channel and I'll see what I can come up with.
I have seen and heard these Gyrophonic speakers before. They bring that Leslie characteristic of filling the room with "moving" sound. That is giving the effect that a slow speed leslie does, providing a sort of "3d" presence.
I really want to build one of my own, since finding one has not been too promising. Can you possibly give a tour of it for us? Showing motor/speaker specs. and the design of it etc.? That would be the best if you could! Cheers!
I would be glad to post a tour of the design of the Gyrophonic speaker system. I might be after next week as I my job is preventing me from more pleasurable activities. Yet I am thankful to have work. Have you considered building a rotating baffle with a stationary speaker like the lower drum of a Leslie speaker. The Gyrophonic system directs the sound in front of the speakers but with a rotating baffle, it throws the sound 360 degrees around the room.
This is the first time I have seen that multi-speaker spinning system. I own a Leslie 16 and am familiar with other spinning drum and or horn systems but what exactly is that crazy system you have in the video?
Also, is the organ you are play a CV? Or is it one of the government issue organs?
Yes, that is the gyrophonic speaker. It is un-modified and aparantly was common with the older Allen organs as I have another set from another old Allen. They sound different than the leslie but both types sound good but some prefer the leslie sound and some would rather use the gyrophonic system. Haveing the leslie simulator gives me the freedom to switch from one to the other. Ocassionaly I use both. The organ is a model "E" which is a little larger than the CV or the government issue organs.
Looks/sounds like a G to me or perhaps a GV. Notice the chorus drawbar on the upper right manual. I'm not sure what good radially spinning speakers would do to/for the sound. I know the late model Leslies had actual rotating drivers but were not known for their quality. Perhaps this was an attempt to make a better system based on that idea?
I've got one of those Allen Gyphonics but I don't know how to wire it up. Something about 12 VDC so the switch will work. Hopefully I can connect it to my old Baldwin organ...it has some speaker jacks and an internal rotary speaker. Can anyone help?
I purchased a 12VDC supply from Radio Shack and installed in one of the speakers wich fed my control box. Then controlled the speed to both speakers. I put a 120 VAC relay from the power switch from the organ to feed the power for the speakers. This way the organ is only powereing the relay, not the speakers amps and motors. The Allen amps may be mono input and the Baldwin may have multiple outputs. Tibias though one, reed the other, and bass in another. Keep that in mind.
I finally got around to getting a power supply (from an old printer 13.5V, 1.0A) anyways, I plugged that into the small outlet on the control box, hooked up the big plug to AC. and then tried to jumper the 4-pin connector in various ways...nothing happened. I know this unit worked when taken out of service.
Make sure your voltage is D.C. Also, I have 4 gyro's. These are the same but you may have something different. You mentioned a small outlet on the control box. Mine are larger in dia. than a quarter. Facing my control box, the pin in the 11:o-clock position is common. 2:o-clock position is slow, 4:o-clock is med. Power to both slow and med gives you fast speed. My voltage supply is 3A, but your 1 amp should be sufficient for one speaker control. Remember your box may be different.

@FenrirLupus They use brushes like on a DC electric motor. They make contact on a smooth surface unlike the slotted surface used on a motor.
