Military actions, especially are made to be dry fired. Rim fire guns shouldn't be dry fired because the firing pin hits and can break. You, good sir, just got yourself a thumbs up!
I don't know dude. It's rimfire, so if you dry fire it, the firing pin slams into the chamber without a soft rim or a bullet there, and could possibly chip or break off.
if you loose the little pin for the safety you can use a pin from a kwikset lock use the red one try a locksmith or your local hardware store prolly give you it free
similar to a 1911.. but i think its better, the tokarev just didnt get all the aftermarket support the 1911 has... which lets face it, enough after market support to mask the flaws and errors of the 1911

Dry firing the Tokarev will NOT damage the firing pin.

You can dry fire the Ruger 10/22 all day long. It is made to do so.

Since the 10/22 does not have a last shot bolt hold open feature, what are you supposed to do? I do not count shots.
I called Ruger and they said the rifle was made to dry fire.

Ahhh, I see. Thats interesting.
higgininja 2 years ago
@stchman No firearms should be dry fired ever. Some handle it better than others.

@ufloetz
How do you justify that statement other than you heard about it? Please, give me reasons other than some guy you knew told you.

Very nice video, wasn't sure how to take apart my Tokarev at first, just got one very recently.
Only thing I didn't like was the cheaply made lead safety, and its hard finding the brass after you shoot it :P

You can break the firing pin by dry firing it?
tampz0nz 3 years ago
Yes, its not good to dryfire some guns, because of how theyre designed. Its not good to dryfire rimfire weapons either.
bigguy6100 3 years ago
Nothing you want to do too quickly. Lots of small pieces and springs to look out for.
krankiev 3 years ago
Yeah, that little pin and spring in the safety are a pain if you drop them, I know.
