yes the game is rather cheap now. and there is a downloadable gametype which is just deathmatch. many servers run it. pick any weapon, shoot anyone not on your team

Yeah, you can delete them, but they take up virtually no space, so there is no point.

If you have to though, go to the Steam folder, CSS, look for the maps folder and there you go.

Well, in comparison to the more recent titles (Crysis, etc) they are. The Source engine was very good when Valve released Half Life 2, but that was way back in 2004. Hopefully Valve makes a new engine by the time Half-Life 3 is out (too bad we won't be alive to see it.)

you may have to sacrifice to a lower screen resolution and many of the graphical options must be disabled. but, if you do this, i suspect you should get a possible 30-40 FPS. then again, if you are worried, go get CS 1.6. the original is just as fun and has just as many people playing it.
