Well that makes things more interesting! I played Lords of Magic Special Edition- so it will be interesting to see just how much it improved and changed from the original version.

I'm already intrigued by the large number of differences I've seen already. >_>

The stick throwers are just...Throwing hunks of wood at enemies...

They ARE useless.

There is an unofficial patch that allows you to adjust the scroll speed, I believe. I made use of it myself on my attempts at playing. It helps a lot.

i remember playing this as a kid. I thought it was such a gorgeous game, but I couldnt figure it out for the fukin life of me, so i stuck to Homm2.

2D is good.

Probably only my opinion, as my eyes cannot properly see 3D, 2D is much more detailed for me, and everything 3D seems like a too much blurry 2D to me.

Also, this is the first good LP of Lords of Magic, where as there are some LPs of Icewind Dale around (I mean it is a good game, but the rarer the LPed game is, the more fun for me ! :-) )

Kikoskia, this is totally your LP...do what you please...but if your opposition is all ranged attackers and you have a mix of melee, you need to force them to divide their units and attack with a mixed force on those divided units.

@GrizzlerBorno Yeah I agree...he does not seem to be using any of his units special abilities or doing much of any strategy....

@GrizzlerBorno Yeah, his stick throwers have a volley ability that allows them to attack a lot more faster and his berserk command allows his raiders to do heavy damage quickly once they get into melee.

@Malkasphia as chaos you don't want to use berserk so much as parry. berserk uses your defense to bolster your attack, but chaos already has high attack and almost no defense. parry sacrifices your attack stat to buff you defense.

on the other hand, when you're earth, and have high defense and average attack, then you can berserk like crazy.

@GrizzlerBorno Kind of- but not as much as the games that inspired Lords of Magic:

- Heroes of Might and Magic 2

- Lords of the Realm 2

Both of which are superior games on their own. >_>

But Lords of Magic has its own charms. The actual 'strategy' you seek comes more from the party's composition than actual in-battle tactics though. (Especially since the pathfinding in Lords of Magic is mediocre at best)

Right now- Kiko seems to be playing the combat as if he was the AI. :P

@FateJHedgehog I've only played the demo but you can recover more health in buildings and you can heal them using crystals in the temple. The life race I think regen health the fastest.

Volunteers do provide you with units, but you can always subtract some from the stronghold. Small waste of resources, really. Lords of Magic are srs bzns.
