just imagine if Team Silent made another silent hill game for the ps3 and xbox 360. these are the next Gen consoles and i just can't stop thinking what it'll be like if they made another silent hill game. silent hill 2 and 3 are incredible on the past consoles. just imagine, These guys making another silent hill games 100x bigger and better.
Team Silent took a very philosophical, psychological, and existential approach with creating their games... that's why it stands the test of time. It made you think, took your mind to dark and unsettling places. If Tomm Hulett and company want to do something great and not just copy pasta the shit out of of SH2, they have to UNDERSTAND fear.
i haven't any idea about the crying baby at the end of the game! that sound it's not on my game and i never understood why heather turns back and makes a surprise face! and now everything has sense!!!
@TheVGGP same here, to me it actually lived up to the silent hill name, too bad assholes couldn't see that, all they cared about was pyramid head and the freaking storyline but this game actually made me feel scared even after i had beaten it 2-3 times... same goes with number 4
@MyGodzilla99 yes! thats what i feel! i didnt even like the second ones storyline to much. it was kinda dull. but dont get me wrong i still liked the game but it didnt really grab my attention to much. it was kinda had the same atmosphere through out the game. kinda hard to explain. but 3 and 4 were the truly scary ones to me. 3s opening was the most twisted opening i have ever seen and nothing will top that to me.
@TheVGGP yep, and people say SH4's ghosts are stupid -_- i mean it's one thing to just watch a walkthrough but playing the "actual" thing is different... you just can't help but feeling insecure because those things can follow you around even going through walls ,which makes it even more intense, and walter is just like pyramidhead (he stalks)...
@MyGodzilla99 Well the reason I like SH2 is not necessarily the story. By itself its not that impressive. However what makes it genius is the way that it is presented. They take the complex psychology that goes behind the story and use the gaming format to tell it in an artistic, creative and thoughtful way. But that's why I love the original SH games...They used masterful subtlety and really dove into the darkness with a unique ambiance that not even the recent SH's have been able to capture.
@MyGodzilla99 I know, I was just sharing why I liked SH2 which happens to pertain to the rest of the original games as well. I don't really see a need to compare them though. They all offer something different to the series.

SH2 had the best story imo. SH3 had the great graphics and atmosphere and best sound effects imo. SH4 story was decent, well I least i was kept on edge wanting to to know wtf is going on with the apartment, people dying and walter. Sh4 made me feel like I mattered like I could save lives like in persona 4. But SH4 monsters were weird and not scary at times. Like the burping patients...slurping dogs....annoying flies...stupid tentacles in the way...
after watching this i feel there is really a lot that is lost in translation between what japanese designers feel connects to gamers and what gamers actually experience in the game. a lot of concepts and ideas built into the character and the story don't always strike so directly with the american audience, in my opinion. maybe someone can enlighten me how this changes or evolves throughout the series
@Enerki theres nothing pure about it brother (or sister) Silent Hill is a gritty,evil,dirty,dark myth of isolation and of anxiety. takes you to the darkest part of your mind and self constience.
@RyanKHS06 totally, the movie really get stuck to the game, yes some changes like Harry Mason for Rose Da Silva but, still the same story, did you already see the official trailer?
This documentary truly does Silent Hill 3 justice. I got my first look at Heather's VA and inspiration. I got to hear Heather's voice come out of a real mouth. I got to SEE Heather and the geniuses who created this series in the real world. It's everything a SH could ever ask for.
Super excited for the new Silent Hill game, but I hope that Silent Hill goes back to Japan in the next installment. The Japanese create some great horror, as is evident from the early Silent Hill games.
Silent Hill 1, I couldn't finish cause I was so confused and lost and scared..
Silent Hill 2, it just fugging scared me and I fugging hated doors...
Silent Hill 3, wasn't as scary as the 2nd, but freaking creepy. All I have to say is, The Mirror Room... gah I couldn't get over how they made you be locked in their while the room turned into HELL...
Imo sh3 is the scariest, 2nd is sh2. I don't like the environment in SH3 at all. No normal people(except for douglas) Damn weird noises and music, and yeah Valtiel whom at first I had no idea, wtf is that. sh3 gives this emphasis of the other world. It's all bloody and not nice.
Well sh2 is scary too I must say. Pyramid head. Weird, Big and you know he's coming to get you.
That's my f*ckin dream job, right there :) I love the plot and the underlying ideas in the game.... Basically the fact that it's not just horror, monsters, blood and gore ;-)
@soupman345 There would definitely be no Silent Hill without Resident Evil. People wrote off Silent Hill when it came out as a Resident Evil ripoff. That said, the first two games of both series are the only truly awesome games in either series.
One of my favorite series and the best horror series ever.
I'm glad the Japanese are not tainted from birth by European/western mythology and culture (that things are either good or bad, every human perceives reality the same way, etc.)
Heather is has got to be the hottest girl in any video game. Vincent scared the crap out of me. AKIRA YAMAOKA IS A GENIUS! Silent hill 2 and 3 ost-s have been in my ipod for the past 3 years.
Anyway, why do people in these comments keep mentioning Homecoming as if it was the last SH? Shattered Memories was the most recent and that's actually good, though it's a shame it's not particularly scary and that the running parts can be pretty frustrating. Still, the storyline is great, the way the player's actions change the plot, characters' personalities and appearances is great and the twist at the end is fantastic.
So, I'd just finished SH2, ran out and got SH3, and popped it in my PS2. A buddy shows up, and says: "What's that?" I explain SH2 to him, and tell him it was the best mind fuck I'd ever gotten, terrified me. I explain a bit about it to him, he goes: "Sounds like a Resident Evil ripoff." I go "No, SH is WAY better. And it doesn't have any stupid zombie dogs in it.". Right then, the first dog you run in to in the mall jumped out. Had to say: "Um... it's still a better series." Was embarrasing.
I'm sick and tired of people bullshitting the new Silent Hills. It's Team Silents fault they disbanded, so of course the series is going to get passed into new hands. Do you honestly think you could do a better job at making the games? The series must get over the past and move on and adapt, or else the series will die for sure.
At least Double Helix tried their hardest when making Silent Hill V, they stuck to the source material, and tried to keep it as Silent Hillish as possible.
@ThirstySlug Team Silent didn't disband — they are employees of Konami who have either focused on other projects or been assigned to them. Additionally, part of the reason why so many fans are disappointed by the games produced by Climax and Double Helix is because they are entirely lacking in the Japanese aspects of horror and psychology that were present in the first four games and made them so enthralling.
@ThirstySlug I don't see how Silent Hill V was an example of 'sticking to source material.' There was barely any mention of the mythology of Silent Hill; it wasn't a continuation of the series, it was a subplot at best.
@ThirstySlug Maybe they should try a new approach? With Silent Hill's schizophrenic nature, the possibilities for a change of direction are endless. I can remember (years back) when quizzed about the next Silent Hill game after 3, a member of Team Silent (I can't remember who, sorry) that the next game may not be a horror game in the literal sense of the term. Now, this got me interested. 4 was something of a departure, but the games that followed stick to too much of a formula. Change is good!
@ThirstySlug I don't think so, Double Helix gave their hardest screwing up the SH's geography? They let the movie, wich is an adaptation, influence the main serie and that was really bad. For example, until SH origins there was a progressive construction of the SH geography, but in SH Homecoming they simply deleted some parts of the city and added places that will never fit in the map... besides, Sheperd's Glen event is a GOOD history that screwed up SH main plot.
The subtitles stop when he's explaining that fat monster. was this a fansubbed movie? SH3 is my favorite so far in the series. Homecoming was ok. Nice graphics at least, but less atmosphere.
The new SH games are alright I think... But nothing compares to the original 1-4 produced by Team Silent. The atmosphere of the first three games in particular are just unforgettable. Every time I watch cut scenes from them I almost feel like I've come home- a similar feeling the characters in game experience when returning to their town of nightmares too. The new games just don't have that anymore...
Team Silent is the reason SH 1-4 are so amazing. Silent Hill is more then just a game, more then just fog, a flashlight, some monsters and a radio. The new teams working on SH have shit all over the legacy of the series. They think just cuz the items mentioned above are in the game that its Silent Hill. WRONG.
Now that Akira Yamaoka is gone from Konami, there is literally no reason to play this once great, personal series. SH 1-4 forever. The rest can suck my ass.
The monsters in this game are very unique, as they symbolize fears of the character. Not many games can capture that disturbing piece of the protagonist's heart and manifest it into their own living nightmare. It's what makes Silent Hill so disturbing, filling the player's experience with real fear.
I honestly think I coulve done a better job with silent hill homecoming. I mean in these old silent hills everything is full of little details that make you go wow thats creepy cool. These american that made homecoming just placed a dead body in random places that looked the same and didnt even look real. Nothing about it is artistic at all its just lazy. I really hope a new company can realize this if another silent hill is ever made.
Team silent RLY need to come back. you cant just hand over a game like silent hill to another team. its like if someone started makeing shakespere plays and said it was real shakespere. it just doesnt work or feel the same... i hope the team silent guys know that their fans want them back
a new silent hill game is in the works. It had better be the Japanese team. they had an something the European an American lacked, a real sense of fear, and emotion.

I love this game, It messes with your mind & emotions,plus its full of symbolism whether you see it or not,I agree origins was a little dry, Homecoming wasnt that bad though, I like it but its nothing like the SH games before it, I havent played Shattered Memories yet tho :(
Silent hill 3 is awsome yes....but I like how in Silent Hill 2 they had each monster sybolize a meaning. The Pyramid Head to symbolize James....took me awhile to figure that out, but it was awsome when I did.
@deoxysfan10 Well technically there /are/ more than 3 kinds of monsters. They're all Raw Shocks, however their appearance varies depending on the ending you're leaning towards.
@deoxysfan10 Agree, but I find the game not scary at all. None of the recent Silent Hill games are. They don't have those dark, ghostly and hellish elements in them anymore. Instead the western developers focused too much on storytelling and control scheme that they don't crank up the scare factor as much as they ought to.
Origins is boring. Homecoming lacks substance. And Shattered Memories needs more monsters. Please Team Silent. Please regroup and continue the Silent Hill saga!
I liked 3 more than 2 for some reason, I don't know why. Maybe it's because I'm closer to Heather's age and could relate to her better in that regard. 2's right behind it though. :]

So, I'd just finished SH2, ran out and got SH3, and popped it in my PS2. A buddy shows up, and says: "What's that?" I explain SH2 to him, and tell him it was the best mind fuck I'd ever gotten, terrified me. I explain a bit about it to him, he goes: "Sounds like a Resident Evil ripoff." I go "No, SH is WAY better. And it doesn't have any stupid zombie dogs in it.". Right then, the first dog you run in to in the mall jumped out. Had to say: "Um... it's still a better series." Was embarrasing.

I'm sick and tired of people bullshitting the new Silent Hills. It's Team Silents fault they disbanded, so of course the series is going to get passed into new hands. Do you honestly think you could do a better job at making the games? The series must get over the past and move on and adapt, or else the series will die for sure.
At least Double Helix tried their hardest when making Silent Hill V, they stuck to the source material, and tried to keep it as Silent Hillish as possible.

@ThirstySlug Team Silent didn't disband — they are employees of Konami who have either focused on other projects or been assigned to them. Additionally, part of the reason why so many fans are disappointed by the games produced by Climax and Double Helix is because they are entirely lacking in the Japanese aspects of horror and psychology that were present in the first four games and made them so enthralling.

@ThirstySlug Maybe they should try a new approach? With Silent Hill's schizophrenic nature, the possibilities for a change of direction are endless. I can remember (years back) when quizzed about the next Silent Hill game after 3, a member of Team Silent (I can't remember who, sorry) that the next game may not be a horror game in the literal sense of the term. Now, this got me interested. 4 was something of a departure, but the games that followed stick to too much of a formula. Change is good!

@ThirstySlug I don't think so, Double Helix gave their hardest screwing up the SH's geography? They let the movie, wich is an adaptation, influence the main serie and that was really bad. For example, until SH origins there was a progressive construction of the SH geography, but in SH Homecoming they simply deleted some parts of the city and added places that will never fit in the map... besides, Sheperd's Glen event is a GOOD history that screwed up SH main plot.

The new SH games are alright I think... But nothing compares to the original 1-4 produced by Team Silent. The atmosphere of the first three games in particular are just unforgettable. Every time I watch cut scenes from them I almost feel like I've come home- a similar feeling the characters in game experience when returning to their town of nightmares too. The new games just don't have that anymore...

Team Silent is the reason SH 1-4 are so amazing. Silent Hill is more then just a game, more then just fog, a flashlight, some monsters and a radio. The new teams working on SH have shit all over the legacy of the series. They think just cuz the items mentioned above are in the game that its Silent Hill. WRONG.
Now that Akira Yamaoka is gone from Konami, there is literally no reason to play this once great, personal series. SH 1-4 forever. The rest can suck my ass.

The monsters in this game are very unique, as they symbolize fears of the character. Not many games can capture that disturbing piece of the protagonist's heart and manifest it into their own living nightmare. It's what makes Silent Hill so disturbing, filling the player's experience with real fear.

I honestly think I coulve done a better job with silent hill homecoming. I mean in these old silent hills everything is full of little details that make you go wow thats creepy cool. These american that made homecoming just placed a dead body in random places that looked the same and didnt even look real. Nothing about it is artistic at all its just lazy. I really hope a new company can realize this if another silent hill is ever made.

I love this game, It messes with your mind & emotions,plus its full of symbolism whether you see it or not,I agree origins was a little dry, Homecoming wasnt that bad though, I like it but its nothing like the SH games before it, I havent played Shattered Memories yet tho :(

Silent hill 3 is awsome yes....but I like how in Silent Hill 2 they had each monster sybolize a meaning. The Pyramid Head to symbolize James....took me awhile to figure that out, but it was awsome when I did.

@deoxysfan10 Agree, but I find the game not scary at all. None of the recent Silent Hill games are. They don't have those dark, ghostly and hellish elements in them anymore. Instead the western developers focused too much on storytelling and control scheme that they don't crank up the scare factor as much as they ought to.
Origins is boring. Homecoming lacks substance. And Shattered Memories needs more monsters. Please Team Silent. Please regroup and continue the Silent Hill saga!
