  • *Really enjoyed especially since I can actually understand the lyrics. *Too often it is

difficult to understand the words/lyrics of songs when sung by church choirs "

school choirs. *WAY BACK...Fred Waring's "Chesterfieldsers Chorus" , AND

Mitch Miller's "Sing-A-Long" had EXCELLENT diction and pronunciation and the

words to songs were actually understand as opposed to the garbled lyrics/words

when sung by today's so called "vocalists". Think Sinatra, Bennett, Dinah Shore,

    Kate Smith.

  • this is one of my favorite old church songs...it's one of the few songs i loved singing cos it has passion it it

  • I have loved The Charioteers since childhood, when I heard an old gospel 78 rpm by them called "A Beautiful Life." The song is unique because it gave the bass singer a chance to display his amazing low pipes. The Charioteers' bass man was dropping notes down through the cellar, lower than anybody. It was the most amazing record I had ever heard. Has anyone else ever heard the song?

I love this song -- have loved it since childhood -- an old spiritual -- but I used to just open the song book and sing it by myself with all my might!

  • I enjoy this bubbly version!!! What's with the comment about Satan's shoes?

  • They say it in the song if you listen closely.
