Perhaps I figured out why the Germans didn't stand, they wanted K & G to do their song and didn't want to seem disruptive. That's what I think why they aren't standing. I noticed this from other German television shows.

A lot of TV music programmes prefer that the artists lip sync their performance because of technical issues to do with sound and all that, especially with a large band like Kool and the gang....ie it saves time (and money) to have each artist lip sync their song rather than have to go through endless sound checks when each group is only going to be performing one song. Basically the group can just come in, do the performance and go, ensuring production runs a lot smoother.
