Got to love the chunks of wood just gently settling to the ground after falling from about ten meters up. IRL, they'd probably go spinning off at lethal velocities. Source was good when it was made, but even if HL2:Ep3 comes out tomorrow it'll probably still look ancient. I hope that whatever's taking them so long is major physics improvements.

Gmod currently uses the last version made before everything was upgraded to L4D. This is because the last time Garry made a large engine update, thousands of addons broke and the game started to cost money. The community has since recovered, but another update would cause damage that can't be repaired.

To add: Half Life now uses a better working and responding engine. Garrysmod (which was used to make this video) uses the Episode one engine while the newest (Portal) engine is much more responsive and working.

The current version of Garry's Mod uses the Orange Box engine, the same that powers Portal, Episode 2, and Team Fortress 2.

The version of Garry's Mod I'm using was the free version that used the original Half-Life 2 engine.

@shirowantami Two things. First, I was wrong, when I said that I meant to say the Episode two engine. The second thing, they just upgraded the Episode two engine into the Orange box engine. (Episode two used to be the 2007 engine, but now has been upgraded along with many games to the newest, 2009 engine.). So if you meant that it uses the engine as of the latest update you are correct, before the update Episode two had a different engine then any other game.

Episode two was in its own box stated the 2007 engine. Also, they had the Portal and Team fortress two, stated as the 2009 engine. They obviously did something or other with the engines earlier on that made this different. Probably an update to Portal and Team Fortress 2 last year.
