Sorry, but Mr or Ms mattandtrissy not seems to get pont. In this performance, orchestra deserves most credit. Pianist is only ordinary or little better. But this conducter superb. Absolutely masterly. He raelly knows how to make sound. If everyone disagree with this opinion, everyone must see ear doctor, no? I won't desire go to pianist's concert, but I definitely go to this conducter's concert. Sorry for wrong English, but thank you for good performance.
This pianist is outstanding; the conductor does a serviceable job but is frankly not important for that reason. As anyone who goes to such perfomances knows, when a conductor allows the soloist to shine, his/her conducting becomes irrelevant. As it should.
Let me disagree three times. The pianist, at least in this performance, is ordinary. Since he was hailed by some as the most extraordinary pianistic talent they knew when he was thirteen, I guess he was precisely that, say about twenty five years ago. But here, he is nothing of the kind. The conductor not only does a serviceable job but a superb one, as he quite often does.
@himitsunosallychan fair enough maybe i was a bit harsh with my criticism, but i don't think it's an 'ordinary' performance as you put it,it is very good on my opinion, cheers
@himitsunosallychan Oh yeah right...the conductor is sooooo "extraordinary" while the pianist is ordinary. The conductor who just stands there and waves his arms for no real reason, while the pianist demonstrates shocking skill that took lifetimes to achieve. And you compliment the freakin conductor. Moron.
As any self-respecting conductor knows and any concert-goer expects, a conductor's conducting is never irrelevant, particularly when s/he wants her/his soloist to shine. And it is not.
I have the greatest respect for conductors, and bad conducting can ruin a soloist's performance. But the object of a performance such as this is not the orchestra. Maybe it's that a competent conductor should know how to conduct to a soloist's greatest advantage, which is the case here, and so I can freely focus on and appreciate the soloist rather more than the orchestra. If they played poorly or were poorly conducted, that'd be another matter. We differ, I guess.

Hello Excelente performance para mi gusto, la verdad admirable lo de Sgouros, que grandes Genios que hay en la actualidad musical... la verdad qeu son cada vez mas increibles.. BUenoi muchas gracias
Sgouros , musical and tremendous energy technique can't be bettered at this age. What was he in late teens here.Maybe too emphatic. Prokofiev has a style but what is it ?s it the early century's fascination with tech and some neurosis and fear of 20 h century mechanistic shiny demons with a nostalgia also thrown in seen in pastice and parody as inBartok debussy ,Honneger .then the deep russian earth comes out in sec . subject . I'm not sure.#2 and 5 . got some?
dimitris and martha are the only ones who play this concerto well...sorry for the bias...

The best performance there is:
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Daniele Gatti
Yuja Wang, piano
Sergei Prokofjev: Pianoconcert nr.3 op.26
Concertgebouw Amsterdam

@afertyus1000 What I am saying is:
1) This is a fine performance.
2) The orchestra (along with Inbal) deserves the credit for it.
Because:
a) Sgouros's playing is ordinary, or perhaps a little better.
b) Inbal's conducting is extraordinary.
If you do not understand this much, well, that's YOUR problem. Cheers.

I have to disagree with that statement with regards to this particular concerto. Orchestra and soloist are practically equals in Prokofiev's 3rd.

Kill the camera man.....he sucks....what's with the wide angles of the whole crappy orchestra at every climax?? Moron.

@mattandtrissy Yes. It's a pity that camera men aren't musicians!
