Actually, Roy used to be pretty fast in his early career, but he's slowed down quite a bit. He is a big problem in coverege, but I think it's more a leteral agility problem then speed.

He hit so hard because of how he hit. he led with he forarms a lot and would just run through people...but this causes problems...one, you dont wrap up so you're not guaranteed a tackle. two, he broke his forearm his last year with the boys...then broke it again after he got traded i think.

Notice that Roy's job wasn't so much about coverage as it was about enforcement. When you have corners that can play man defense this becomes possible. In the past few years, except for Newman, the Cboys corners have sucked. Now that they have regained talent at their corners, they have rookie safeties that are clueless. I wish they had dumped "Bobby Flay Carpenter" and kept Roy to play instead. At least Roy could catch what usually beat him. No one was slower than BillBates. Right?,?,?

The video fails to account that Roy gets smoked in coverage all the time. I posted an example in another video called cowboys wreck. He is the size of a linebacker but also is slower than many LBs. Why not just play a linebacker in the secondary if your going to use Roy Williams. Plus he's not a good tackler he either blows you up or misses badly. He has been missing badly more often the past few years. All of this is the curse of the king sized safety.

" amazing cover safety" Steve Atwater wasn't an amazing cover safety, but could still cover two. Roy can't even do the middle in a cover 3, which even middle linebackers can do. Plus 8 in the box the safety in the box has to tackle and sometimes cover the tight end. Roy may hit like dynamite but you need to make contact first, he misses too many tackles. And covering the tight end haaaaa! Bottom line... Williams can't even perform the basic functions of a strong safety

yeah your absolutely wrong. the thing about Roy Williams is he lost the will to play. he became a christian, and I thank God for that. but something in his mindset changed. in the past 3-4 years I havent seen him blow up anyone, no matter what. he has always been slow. but why is it that he hasnt had ANY ints recently? now I admit, I think he may be in a bad system with the 3-4, but I dont think it should have made that big of a difference. I hope he recovers. but the rule changes didnt matter.

It's clear Wade Phillips didn't know how to use Roy right this year. He needs to be playing closer to the line of scrimmage. He'll catch on with another team and return to the pro bowl. He was never a cover guy at OU, so I don't see why people expect that from him now. Poor decision by the 'Boys to let him go.

Nah, the only thing I can diss Roy on is half or more of his tackles are illegal horse collars or a cheap hit. These highlights might be the only clean hits he's had in his career. And yes...Sean Taylor lit up people too. He was way faster and he brought all his speed to his hits - Roy does only when he can deflect the blow. ST brought it every single time. If he broke his neck going full speed, he was gonna do it.  ST definitely the better safety. And didn't showboat like RW does.
