  • very nice work man

  • would it be possible to make miniature solenoids for it so it can do Hi-Lo and pulse? because that would be awesome

  • I always wonder why I like sirens, und wonder why other people like them too. Haha they're just so wicked cool und creepy!

  • @vanamonde2 If I had one of those, I could annoy my grandfather every 1st Tuesday at 10:00am (test day in Illinois).

  • how loud is it?

  • i gotta have 1 2 . i want to hack it into my alarm clock. :P

  • i gotta have 1

  • Freakin' Sweet! Love your Civil Defense Museum! I bet your neighbours must love you at 10 in the morning on a Sunday!

  • @15Multi What's happening Sunday at 10am?

  • Sort of has a slow wind up and a fast wind down. Usually it's the opposite, from what I've heard. But nice siren :D

  • @AKSoapy29 I'm looking forward to seeing your fully working miniture thunderbolt that has the correct wind-up to wind-down ratio. Please post a video when you have it up and running.

  • @vanamonde2 I'm not saying I have one, I'm just stating my opinion that it is fairly acurate. I did how ever try building a very small electronic horn that I could use with an Arduino though. I was going to make an alarm clock, but I sort of scrapped that project. I'm not really good at building.

  • @vanamonde2 This is my first: bit. ly/ qPkXtv

  • lol That little thing packs a decent punch, just like the normal one does.

Put that on top of your roof and turn it on once a week. "It's the local alert system" :)

  • How cute! A baby T-Bolt! ^_^ I want one!

  • The little Thunderbolt looks so cute compared to the big one behind it.

  • Oh that's so cute! It's a baby thunderbolt!

  • Puny-Bolt 1000T

    Lol.

  • Wait, this is a ThunderBolt series b, right? Since it's going backwards? I think you should add the solvenoids from the 1003 model.

  • @AKSoapy29 How is it going backwards? There is no backwards or forwards for a thunderbolt.

  • @vanamonde2 Doesn't series B go Counter Clockwise instead of the original Clockwise?

  • @AKSoapy29 They can go either way. Depends on how the motors are wired. The sirens with single phase rotator motors probably turn more of the same direction but if they have 3 phase rotators they can turn in either direction. I've never took the time to notice which direction they turn. When you say clockwise. Do you mean clockwise looking from the bottom or top?

  • @vanamonde2 Top.

  • @vanamonde2 hook the big one into ur security system

  • I am a fan of the cold war and civil defense. I am making a movie and am trying to animate a thunder bolt turning around. I am using still pics from the web but there is not too many out there. If you could photograph your siren for me or video it looking up at sharp angle with a dark green poster board behind it. I could give you a movie credit for it. Contact me at joewars66 on youtube. Hope to hear from you. Thanks

  • did you make this by yourself or did you have someone doit for you?

  • @Branden2732 I made it myself.

  • @vanamonde2 Cool Great job!!

  • how loud is this?

  • @MiSirenChaser I didn't get a blueprint to make it. I just made it. I have a page about it on my site. See my channel page for my site address. The page is in the warning sirens section under mini thunderbolt project.

  • i dont know if im scared of tornado or going deaf

  • did you build it? If so do you have any drawings?

  • if you put a sullinoid box on the mini youll be able todo hi lo tones on it

  • that has great sound! how much did you have to pay for that if you don't mind me asking..also what is the decible output?

  • You should have instructions on how to make the siren on your site!

  • hey would you know where i could get one of the mini thunderbolts out where i live we cant hear the city's sirens and we have been having a lot of sever weather lately and i am tire of getting wet to go out and sound the siren on my car i am a firefighter

  • are thay loud

  • Man, if i had one of those my neighbor would shoot me.

  • its cute

  • Love it! Sounds like it's big brother. It would be good to install one of those inside a school or small office building, in case you can't hear the ones outside.

  • U N B E L I E V A B L E

  • I would hate to live next to you, but I would love to own one of those (or original) to go with the rest of my CD collection

  • @weaponeer Why? It's not like you would ever hear any sirens. I think only one of my neighbors has ever heard one of my sirens and that was because I told him I was about to run it. They can barely be heard just a couple of houses away and the only time I run them is when everyone else is at work during the day.

  • @vanamonde2 - as a disabled vet I'm home full time... lol we still use these in town here for fire and tornado alerts, so there can be heard for miles. I still would like to find one some day.. great part of history much like my CD 700, 715, 717, 720, and 750

  • Try putting Solenoids on it like its big brother behind it?

  • how do i get one

  • Any chance of a mini Allertor 125? :-P

  • how loud is it??

  • Awesome! How long did it take you to make this Min Thunderbolt?

  • Would you be able to make a second chopper and a second hole and a circle horn and make it into an ACA hurricane?

  • @TheCs1231 Now THAT"S an IDEA!!!

  • @vanamonde2

i would pay you 20 dollar for the smal one

  • @vanamonde2 can you make a 3t22 with dampers and everything?

  • That would be a good bell for my School.

  • I've been wanting to say this ever since I found the original Minibolt video... awesome, awesome work, man. Other than it spooling up a little slow and spooling down a little fast, it sounds exactly like the T-bolts I remember growing up with in Battle Creek. (I need to stop watching these videos quite so often, though... the dog just bit my ankle when I hit play! Think she's figured out what's hurting her ears...)

  • I soooo wish you massed produced these!!! I want one!

  • the full sized tbolt next to the model is a 1003t i think (solinoids for hi lo sound) sorry spelling

  • @GTASAModder1 It's just a 1003 not a 1003T.

  • @vanamonde2 where did u get that? also on december 21st 2012 sound off that big one outside and cause mass panick lol

  • I want one of those mini T-bolts!!!!

  • how loud is this?

  • is it a 1000t?

  • Fantastic!

    Congratulations!

  • I wanna hug that siren! It's cuuuuuute!

  • @gdatsexdcom I made it.

  • Is this designed after a 1000 or a 1000T?

  • @twotailedavenger

    I meant the chopper. sry.

  • How loud does the siren get at 10' ?

  • Do you show how to build one?

  • How do you make the chopper? or did you just find it? and if you found it where did you get it?

  • @sciortino1000 The chopper is made out of 6061 T6511 aluminum. I turned it on a lathe and milled the air holes on a mill with the chopper in an indexer.

  • The chopper is 6061 aluminum turned on a lathe. The air holes were drilled on a mill with the chopper in an indexer.

  • Awesome build,you got talent

  • those sirens have always creeped me out when i was young; when we had severe weather.

  • This should be installed as a home security system..just crank it up a couple notches!

  • how loud is it

  • @clowj69 It's about as loud as a real thunderbolt running without

a blower and a towel stuck in the horn.

  • how loud is this? If it's loud enough, you could use it as a burglar alarm.

  • How loud is that thing? also, where can I find supplies to make one.

  • @czk310 Mc Master Carr sells all the material I used to make

this siren. They sell aluminum bar stock, Stainless hex, delrin plastic bar stock, screws etc. etc.

  • what did you use for the blower?

  • very nice, very nice!

  • Man, I can't believe that you tested that smaller version of the t-bolt in my birthday.

  • I did notice the pitch does waver a little bit but other than that thats awesome

  • See my reply to the 4th comment on this video....

  • AwesomE! How does it work? How did you build it? What are the supplies you need to build it?

  • sounds like a real one nice

  • i like how you have the Full Sized T-Bolt in the Background...man..that thing is a Monster!

  • I want to stick a real one in my attic as a burglar alarm supplement.

  • Looks just like the Real Deal!...nice man!

  • also sounds like the real one

  • @dpcomm1 of course.

  • Thats louder than your shop vac!!

  • that would make an EPIC alarm clock!

  • @grindstone1 screw that. I woke up this morning to the simplex fire alarm system in our dorm for the first time. The half-whoop from that thing (mind you, electronic recording played over loudspeaker system) is a freaking CLOSE cousin to a civil defense siren. IN MY ROOM!!!!!!! I woke up to that. NOT COOL.

  • @grindstone1 But.....if he wanted to use it as a fire alarm or burglar alarm or something, I'm sure it'd be pretty effective. Mount it in the attic and hook it up to go off as needed, and just make sure through testing that it could be heard loudly throughout the house.

  • it sounds like a 1000t

  • @ohbobsaget22

    That's because it's a model 1000T.

  • ok just curious are you mad? :)

  • talk about a cool hobby

  • How much do you want? I will buy one

  • cool

  • cool! You built it?

  • Hey vanamonde, can you make me one?

I bet you could try this in a 1003.

    *****

  • hobby stores should sell mini thunderbolts

  • @hootergirlsrhot - I agree

  • @hootergirlsrhot They would be far too expensive.

  • lol it's a baby thunderbolt.

  • How did you find out how to build one? I thought Federal Signal copyrighted it.

  • I didn't FIND OUT how to build it I just built it.

It's a one 6th scale working model. Copyright doesn't have anything to do with it.

  • all you need now is the Hi-Lo Tone

  • CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE ME ONE

  • By the way once New Years rolls around on the calendar this would be perfect to set off at midnight :D

  • im gonna set off my actual sized one

  • If you work for the city warning system, you deserve a raise for this.

  • everyone im sure Eric is tired of the INSANE amount of questions.

anyway, nice job! the chopper sounds a bit draggy in this vid. i remember something about when you made the taken apart video that you did that to clean the collector rings.

  • dude that so cool.

  • yess me two

  • were can I buy one, i will pay top cash

  • When I see the full sized thunderbolt in the background, i can't help but think "ultimate burglar alarm".

  • O YAH

  • ha, they break in the door and the next thing they see and hear is one big and very loud ear splitter. they would run quicker than crap!

  • the hobby stores should sell those mini thunderbolts

  • can you please tell me how you made the horn?

  • I copied the 1 6th scale pattern onto some posterboard, cut it out and glued the pieces together.

  • geeez i eouldnt think of that

  • how far could you hear it? if it was on top of the house? and make instructions. i really want to make one

  • its atleast good to know that the internal motor for the chopper will remain cool because of the air passing through the motor its self. how hard was it to do all the lathing and other machine work??

  • Actually the air coming out of the smog pump blower makes it hotter. The chopper motor is just a radio shack 12volt hobby motor it doesn't get hot running by itself.

It wasn't that hard making the parts.

  • thats really interesting to know that the smog pump blower would make the air hot. would there be any other ways of pushing out the air without the effect of it heating up? keeping it simple and compact like that would definitely keep people guessing.

  • Is the real one behind it?

  • Yep... :x Dont wanna Sound THAT one on your Garage xD

  • I already have without the blower. See my other videos.

  • Is this loud?

  • Well Yes i would say very loud

  • Not that loud. Probably as loud as large shop vacuum.

  • where do you guys get these /kits do you get them on ebay?

  • It's not a kit. I made all the parts myself.

  • Can that little one do hi lo?

  • No it can't.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, darn it. Well, cool little thing anyway. You need to make a demo on how to make one. I need one of those.

  • Eric you should make a solenoid bar for it, that would own so bad

  • If I ever some across some solenoids small enough I might think about. It's just so small I can't imagine how I could do it.

  • you could probably wind your own solenoid coil, and make some dampers by cutting, and welding some sheet metal, and rod stock of some sort (if you have the equipment).

  • The solenoid boxes would be about a half inch long and about a quarter inch square. I don't think there's going to be any "welding" going with that.

  • More like soldering at that sort of size..

  • ever think about building a mini chrysler air raid siren?

  • you got the baby thunderbolt, and the momma thunderbolt. how cute!

  • How loud is this?

  • is that that actual size of the real one

  • how did you get the one in the background?

  • It's been permanently loaned to me by the City of Sherman Texas. I only got the horn/rotator part of the siren. It took me about 7 years to work the deal. The story is on my site. The link to my site is on my channel's main page.

  • is that the real thunderbolt siren in the background?

  • yes it is.

  • is there any way to hook this up 2 an alarm clock?

  • That'd be pretty easy with a relay board and a small microcontroller, I'd imagine, but to wake up to one of these would be a nightmare...or a siren lover's dream.

  • Easy. Just hook a relay across the alarm circuit on the clock and use the relay to switch the siren's motors on.

  • did you have any trouble making the chopper for that?

  • you should make a 1003 next

  • where do you get that?

  • Built it.

  • is the siren in the back the actual size of a real thunderbolt?

  • Yes. For size reference see my - Mini Thunderbolt Sitting On A Real Thunderbolt - video.

  • i played this to my grandfather and i have never seen a man go as white as a sheet before like he did. he had to listen to those during the war. that really is a credit to you sir, well done!

  • Sounds just like the real thing! <3

You should sell them, even if it costed more than a new Thundebolt XD

  • dammm how long did tht takeee??

  • Ok where can you get one of these or do you make them? I would like to buy one.

  • I made this one. There is only one. Everyone wants one. They would be really expensive to produce. I doubt if anyone would really buy one for what it would cost to make them.

  • are you still using this for something?

  • I've never USED it for anything. Just what you see in the video.

  • Did you ever set if off for new years eve? This would be an awesome way to ring in a new year!

  • the drunks would think were getting nucked lol
