Thanks so much for posting this, One of my favourite pastimes in the fifties was recognising Boots' distinctive backing solos on the many rock and roll hits of that era. Good to see him in the limelight for achange.
This is my Uncle Dougs step Dad. One day Doug came home from High School and Boots and his Mom had moved. No forwarding address. Doug did well though.
What hymn did he play 1st in this medley? Can anyone please enlighten me. The 2nd is "When the roll is called up Yonder", while the 3rd is "In the sweet by and by". Even his audience did not sing along to the 1st one, seems they had no clue too.
i dont know if u can see and feel it, but this is pure magic in that room where he plays ... awesome, i didnt know him yet, but this video is ... fascinating all the way ... people completely satisfied with the situation, just letting loose ... awesome!
he was and still is a master, and legend of the saxophone. he has always done every song with perfection, someday i hope i will carry on his tradition with the sax, (may he rest in peace)
Nobody will ever play like him again! King Curtis was his inspiration and he is my inspiration. Boots Randolph will never be forgotten. His style is truly signature!
Nobody can play that sax any better than Boots...Great videos even if it's not the style in which we're used to hearing Boots play, it's still awesome !!
i love how he holds back on the giantspeps subs. as well as the anchovies. xtra cheese is where it's at. seriously no one has even came a close 2nd on yakety sax . the bari sax clip ws good but a far 2nd
hip hop incorporates jazz into their sounds at times. the late j dilla's brother illa j uses contemporary jazz in his beats, and jay z is starting to use jazz and the use of orchestra in his beats. Most rappers cite jazz as being a common listening pasttime in their childhood in their homes, and an influence in their music. Research more on non-commercial rappers and you'll see what i mean. Ill take your comment to be a common misunderstanding
