  • Hmmmmmm..... Naff!

  • Yeah, Richard Chamberlain was certainly not any sort of action hero, and I really fail to see him as a love interest. The guy was too much of a dandy. I'll admit I'm a huge fan of the 3 Damon flicks, but as a reader of Ludlum's books I find this a poor representation of the original story.

  • well, you will either enjoy it or not. If you grew up back then like me you probably will enjoy the old and the new for what they are worth.

  • Ok we have read the novels they are great but the new movies are a modern thake and LOSELY based of the book hell even robert ludlum was involved in the 2002 version

  • this is pathetic especially fights and his reaction after taking pistol apart

  • The "kids following him" bit is abominable.God,that music...

  • People, this was a made for TV miniseries. They didn't spend a $ zillion on special effects. The point was Bourne wasn't a muscled up freak, but a more ordinary man, who could do extrodinary things. Again I say made for TV

Not the action movie the remake was, but more of a supsense thriller.

  • @DISPENSER4HIRE I'd have to say the modern Bourne's character was more military. And instead of making him a genetically-enhanced supersoldier, they just made him into a super soldier through perfectly normal mind-washing techniques and advanced combat training.

  • this movie has a lot more thriller feel to it, the newer movies are all about action and CG, but they loose the sense of the story in them

  • me ha gustado mucho esta película de Richard Chamberlain

  • me ha gustado mucho esta pelicula

  • Which is better? This or Matt Damon?

  • @vol009S matt damon. But this is more faithful to the book. Matt Damon Has more action

  • @ryantwiggsmith909

Yeah. I never saw this one. Also had no idea that this one existed : )

  • @vol009S I only found this movie out when i started reading the book. Glad i did.

  • 4:30- its santa!!!

  • I always liked that older actor -- he mostly played characters who gave of themselves. We could use a few more blokes like that.

  • those kids could get to piss me off pretty soon

  • Is the most ugliest Jason Bourne I ever see.

  • "It had been surgically implanted in your hip."

"And you didn't tell me before?"

"Well the most interesting thing is what was implanted in your ass."

    0_0 "What!?"

  • As awful as this film was it wasn't nearly as bad as the first Hannibal lector movie. Man hunter I think. Yikes.

  • As aw

  • good dr that

  • 3:45 Damn kids, quit following me.

  • More like Diary of a Wimpy Fag, amirite?

  • It's like the other Bourne Identity, only terrible in every way, dragging on and on, and starring a weak, hyper, ineffectual loser.

  • shit, is that the butler from Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroid movie.......

  • Agreeee..............

  • later movies to this trilogy are so much better with Mat Damon

  • @aaronon1 this is a hell of alot more closer to the book, when the one's with matt damon are 110% different so the damon supremacy and ultimatum couldn't even be sequels to this mini series because they wouldn't make sense

  • @aaronon1 Richard is So better than Mat Damon...please!

  • it sure is boring

  • @qeeky so was your comment. Not enough mindless violence in it for you?!

  • @qeeky Sure it is more realistic than the never versions.

  • not exactly the fast hand 2 hand fighter that I thought him to be.

  • I guess in real life there are no "supermen"

the other 2 were not unlike bourne

  • I agree to a certain extent that the new movies have edited or changed the interpretation of bourne but the key elements are still present such as his intelligence, speed, and determination. Seeing also that during the 1980's the use of martial arts such as krav maga, escrima, and karate were not apparent in millitary tactics. Now, martial arts is a key roll in the millitary, being a martial artist myself I have seen men execute like bourne in the movies in real life.

  • That aside, I agree to many people saying that the newer movies is a more modern interpretation of the bourne story and is designed to show the efficiency that an agent must have in order to accomplish a mission.

  • The recent Bourne movies seemed more like a modern interpretation of James Bond than an adaptation of the book.

  • oops... yeah, thanks :)

  • correct. i looked this up on the IMDBF (Internet Movie Database of Firearms)

  • wow. great quality man

  • i think this version of bourne identity is not bad at all, its interesting and have another point of view of the same story

  • the new film ISN'T the story at all; it's a totally different story

  • Yeah, I've read nearly all of Ludlum's novels, and the '02/Damon version of TBI shouldn't even have "Bourne" in the title, IMHO. It's a good action/spy flick, but it's not really a Bourne movie/Ludlum adaptation.

  • completely true. I watched the movies then got the book. I didn't even recognize the character or storyline.

  • Thanx for the kind words, koolkat. Like I posted on a different thread: the studio should've called the movie "Matt Damon Whacks People For 2 Hours".

  • hahahah! Perfect. Thanks again for the upload!

  • Hey, thanx for the kind words, koolkat.

  • YES. Thank you. I'm so glad someone else has pointed this out to all the Damon version loving fans. The Chamberlain film IS The Bourne Identity. I always saw Bourne as an older guy anyway, who didn't look like he just graduated from high school cough*Damon*cough.

  • It's true, Bourne should be older, since in the books he fought in the Vietnam war, and the books are set in the 80's. But he did get plastic surgery to alter his appearance, so that would allow them to take some liberties with his age, don't you think?

  • Comment removed

  • No much great acting. Takes too long for Bourne to discover who he really is.

So yes this 1988 version is closer to the emotions & suspense present in the book while the Matt Damon film franchise has all the scenery, villains, action & twists from the novel.

  • The Matt Damon movie is Nothing like the book. What are you talking about "the villains are the same," no they're not. Carlos was the villain in the book. There is no Carlos in the Matt Damon version.

  • I'm pretty sure that the one assassin that Damon & Nicky Parson fight in Bourne Ultimatum was named Carlos & if he wasn't then it was the name of the actor who played that assassin.

Yeah, so I exaggerated alot but neither one got EVERYTHING completely right. This 1988 version has alot of scenes from the book but whenever Bourne isn't fighting or realizing something about himself,it gets a tad boring.

Now,the 2002 version is also guilty of that.Whenever there's no intense moments,it can get old.

  • I think the new one is better, how does a British doctoir living in France get a Beretta anyway?

  • Are you joking? I could walk outside and I could ask five mates, and at least one of them will tell me he has a Beretta or at least knows were I can get one.

  • "Whenever there's no intense moments,it can get old."

The story makes the difference between those other hollywood shit movies. The Bourne identity was good because there is harmony of action and story...

  • Guns are not completly illegal in europe.I live in germany, which is probably the country in europe that is most sensible when it comes to firearms. And even here many people own a gun.Plus,it is said that one out of every ten handguns on the world(!) is a beretta model 92.Its not that suprising, since it is very accurate, has a large magazine capacity,is reliable and packs quite a punch. Also it isnt very expensive.

  • back in 1980 it was without a doubt a sweet weapon, now it is only a 8.5 inch long, 35 ounce piece of crap that can't even shoot in sand. (but it had its day)

I guess the glock 17 took the title of world standard

Do you have any guns in Germany?

I hear the police in the north have W p99 and the cops in the south are going to the p30 from the p2000 ?

  • Well, where i live the police uses the Walther P99 (i think the DAO version).i dont know about the others, but its possible.I dont know though what you mean with "do you have any guns in germany".

  • Nice. That guy doesnt even know his own name but he knows what a beretta 92F is and also knows how to disassemble it into the major parts.

  • thank you soooooooooooo much for part 2....
