Ah yes, class warfare! The only warfare that doesn't exist unless you point it out. For example during the last thirty years 80% of income generated in this country has gone to the richest 1%. Now if you don't point that out then it doesn't exist!
If you look back in our history pro segregation used a very similar word,"race baiting", when discussing racial discrimination.

There is class warfare, and it's waged all year every year by banks, corporations, the Koch brothers, and more monied interests against the 99%.
These folks spend more on lobbying than they pay in taxes, and it's pretty clear that it's worth it to donate to politicians and Super PACs and have the law changed for yourself rather than pay taxes.
The poor and working class folks don't have lobbyists working for fairness.

If had a penny for every time a talking head said "class warfare", I would hire someone to write a witty ending of this cliché-ish sentence. And then fire him.
Yeah, there's class warfare, and the middle-class is getting their asses kicked right now... You would think these extremely rich people would just shut the fuck up, because this is going to back-fire hard on them.
'Class Warfare' used by the elite is AS USUAL the PPOSITE of what they imply. Class warfare ACTUALLY means STOPPING class warfare BY THE RIC AGAINST THE MIDDLE AND WORKING CLASS... As Warren Buffet said it isn't the middle and poor against the rich:
But it's my class, the rich class, that's making war, and we're winning
Obama: '...it doesn't matter if you're black or white; Asian or Latino; conservative or liberal; rich or poor; gay or straight' 'No one built this country on their own. This Nation is great because we built it together. This Nation is great because we worked as a team. This Nation is great because we get each others backs'
You know, there's nothing that say's class warfare like millionaires and billionaires paying lower income taxes than I do screaming about how they're being beat up by all this class warfare.
Don't let corporate shills fucking brainwash you by calling it by a scary name, millionaires shouldn't be paying lower tax rates than their secretaries, that's just flat out absurd and disgusting. Raise taxes on the rich. Their quality of life will be affected in exactly no way whatsoever.
If you don't want that word be used - you should stop mentioning it yourself. Even if you say this is "not class war fare" the only thing that will stick is the "class war fare...
Greed is at the root of it. We, the workers do all of the labor that creates the wealth of the few. However, there is no equitable sharing of the fruits of that labor. We, the workers are limited to a finite amount of "time" that we "possess" to "sell" in order to "earn a living". The "bosses" increase their own wealth without concern for the standard of living of the workers. Inflation eats up the check. What goes around(pay raises) comes around(workers buy cars, etc) raising the whole.Or not.
@freesk8 The problem with trickle down economics is that it just hasn't worked. In the last 30 years the rich have gotten richer and the poor more numerous. The numbers don't lie.
@Ansonidak The poor do not create jobs. The rich do. You can call that trickle down if you like, but it is just plain true. The govt does not create as many jobs for the next marginal tax dollar as they private sector would if it were allowed to keep it. So advocating raising taxes will destroy net jobs. And I agree that the gap between rich and poor is increased by free market policies. But the poor are better off than they would have been under more govt control.
@freesk8 "The poor do not create jobs. The rich do." Sure, if you ignore the fact that at the heart of any capitalist economy lies the almighty consumer; however, this fact is becoming less true. In a true unadulterated free market, market forces are based on consumer preferences and firms can compete on equal footing. This new regime of unregulated investment banking has helped large firms create an obscene amount of money, while kicking small firms that can't compete to the curb. Feudalism ho!
@sinecurve9999 I totally agree. I'm a fan of the free market, not the crony capitalism/mercantilism/fascism we have today in the US and Europe. In a real free market, the consumer would have much more power, as would the skilled worker, and the individual saver. Alas, things have gone in the wrong direction for decades under the R's and D's. Oh, well. Buy gold and silver! :)
How come saying millionaires should pay more taxes is class warfare but cutting food aide to poor people isn't?
When the top 10% own 75% of the wealth but pay only 70% of the taxes, but the bottom 90% only own 25% of the wealth and pay 30% of the taxes, what's wrong about evening that tax burden to something proportional to wealth ownership? Somehow the Scandinavian countries that "punish success" have a better quality of life than the USA.....
Like we're supposed to have sympathy with the people who've been fucking us over every which way by paying off our politicians to do what they want them to do, not what's best nor what the people want.
No. You ignorant sacks of shit....it's war against gluttony and greed. If you're a greedy mega rich glutton who has ripped off the people in this country and doesn't want to pay tax then it's time you had your nasty asses kicked. I didn't support the War in Iraq...but I sure as hell support this one.
"Obama was elected to bring the country together! But now all he's doing is pointing out that 99% of the people are being screwed by 1% of the people, and convincing the 99% to unite and demand...er...nevermind."
Fox "News" talking point, Class Warfare. Yea Murdoch has been declaring war on the poor and middle class for 50 years. How dumb are some people? The richest pay virtually nothing in tax while the rest of society pay more and more each year to bailout their banks and pay for their wars.
(Class) War was redefined by Fake News as it is from the 99%.
Viewers of Fake News are dumb enough to believe in Fake News, and blame/menace "liberals" for any view that differs from them. Then Fake News lie that the "liberals" are bad guys. And the circle continues...
It does not matter what FauxObama says he is going do. His record says he it is all empty rhetoric; he is not going to do anything to agitate his Wall Street handlers. The threat of a war with Iran if one of the candidates from the Republican clown party wins is not going to motivate the left to support four more years of Bush III--they're simply going to stay home.
@0gods Your comment is pure Ron Paul like BS! The small percentage of the Left who think Obama should have done what they wanted despite the fact he needs Congress will vote for Obama. If not then the Republicans will get to stack the Supreme Court & that would be the death nail for the Middle Class & women's rights. So, it has much more to do than Obama!!
Fuck Ron Paul. . .I am no Paultard. . .just sick and tired of Obama's endless bullshit. If [N]Obama (R-IL) wins re-election, he and his bankster backers/cabinet will gut what is left of the social safety and continue this Wall Street enriching global austerity program.
I am worried about the Supreme [Kangaroo] Court too; however, Obama is so weak, there is no guarantee he won't stack the court with pro-business right-wingers either (as Clinton did)
@0gods SERIOUSLY? Were you not paying attention all last summer? Some of my fellow Liberals were saying the same crap & what happened? THAT'S RIGHT SS & Medicare were untouched! "Bankster Backers" sure did not help stop the Consumer Protection Agency who is already going after banks! SCOTUS...The last time I checked Sotomayar & Kagan not exactly "pro-business right wingers" The same goes for Clinton's appointments Ginsburg & Breyer! Why INVENT things to be mad about?
These corporations must SERVE HUMANITY, not the almighty dollar. They are not simply here to "Make a profit" with no other needs. Humanity DEPENDS on a lot of these corporations for good jobs, and thus, they cannot be solely run by a handful of super-greedy assholes who treat them like their playthings!
We treated corporations this way all throughout the 1800s, and we were able to rein them in. But something disastrous happened along the way, starting in 1886. Big corporations are NOT the sole property of the board! A small business is a man and/or his partner's property, but a LARGE company with a big impact cannot be treated the same. The stakes are too high. How we let all this offshoring happen without so much as even a fine for companies fucking over their towns is beyond me.
That doesn't work. It divides the country rather than unite it. We need participatory democracy AND economics. We should not be subject to the whims of a 10- or 15-member board. WE should all get to make the tough decisions if we are stakeholders. Corporations are PUBLIC SERVANTS, as far as I'm concerned. A company with as large an impact on a society is NOT simply "private property" of the Board of Directors. Once you get that large, you have an obligation not to fuck everyone else over.
It's high time we embraced a NEW model: participatory economics. Why should we be able to elect our leaders as individual voters but have essentially AUTOCRACIES in the workplace, esp. big corporations?? ALL the workers should have a say.
But if the 99% DARE to fight back and ask for our fair share for all the hard work we do keeping this economy together, we're "engaging in class warfare."
Gimme a break... And if it IS class warfare, so be it! The rich declared war on the middle and lower classes FORTY YEARS AGO! It's high time we fought back and demanded OUR economic rights to find good jobs w/ good wages, affordable education, affordable HC, etc. These are NOT something just the rich should have.
Funny how they never call it class warfare when some jackass wants to LOWER the top tax rate even further and give the rich MORE tax breaks... Or deregulate to the hilt and advocate LOWERING wages and cutting benefits of hard-working Americans to "stay competitive."
Class warfare: fighting back against the elites and their shills in the GOP (and some in the DNC) who enable them to get richer and more powerful at our expense

fuck them and their stupid ass class warfare bullshit. it isn't class warfare logical arguments that need to be addressed. You can't rely only on budget cuts, you must have taxes as well, so stop this stupid class warfare crap
@canu2u 30 years? Decades? There has been class warfare for hundreds of years. To paraphrase Warren Buffet, the rich have been winning the class warfare battle for a long time.

Isn't it funny that all the people screaming "class warfare" are in the 1%. They don't know what it is. Class Warfare would be the peasants chopping off the heads of the rich.

There has been class warfare for the past 30 years. The 1% declared it decades ago.

@canu2u 30 years? Decades? There has been class warfare for hundreds of years. To paraphrase Warren Buffet, the rich have been winning the class warfare battle for a long time.
