@lukerides666 these are popping up around the world last couple years , got one friday in cali. So, not the lense or the really bright thing in the middle. I guess your theory was worth a shot. If it were that theory the ring would not stay in place as the camera moves.
I have a video of one of these amazing things `sun halo~ over new york city on March 30 2011. Please have a look and tell us what you think it is ? Thanks. ~Bryan
We used to call them sundogs. When the humidity is just right and the sun hits it just right it creates these phenomenon. I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination, hence the non-technical terms, but I see them quite often in the winter here in Iowa.
It's not produced by chemtrails, it's a halo caused by light refracting off of cirrus clouds. These have been documented by the Chinese thousands of years ago. Were there planes thousands of years ago? CTers make me lulz.

YUp. Massive humidity there. Must be near the equator. i see these in the Philipeans as well as lower USA when the humidity is high and its a sunny day.
You are correct. This phenomenon occurs occasionally here over los angeles's skies. But some people dont notice it. And people are extremely ignorant when you tell them it is chemicals from planes.
@skylinevq35 Too bad people don't look up and notice things are changing. They don't want to hear about anything that will upset their lives...but one day they'll see.
i want to see a solar eclipse, that halo is awesome, and yes it's caused by the atmosphere but who cares, just look at it's beauty and stop fighting over it...jeez
I agree this halo was produced from chemtrails and referred to as a chembow. You guys shouldn't fight about it...educate yourselves. This is the air we all have to breathe so we should know what's happening to it.
That's not a friggin' solar eclipse or an eclipse of any kind. Don't people bother knowing what words even mean? An eclipse means the sun is blocked out, but in this video the sun is 100% totally, absolutely visible.
What you're seeing is called a "circumscribed halo".
They appear from time to time and Wjasharjah998 is mostly correct, it's the Sun's rays reflecting and refracting through small ice crystals in the cold cirrus clouds of the upper troposphere.
that's a purdy sun halo. lol it's made when there is a thin cloud of ice crystals about 4-5 miles up. the light of the sun is kinda warped by the crystals and you get the halo. you can also see them on a cold night when the moon is out... a full moon. it's really pretty.
I saw it here in Mexico and it was great, for me looks like an inverse eclipse, but when i read about this, i get the info of the ice crystals, it was great
yeah its a halo! saw one at night last year! my friend yelled for me to come outside coz ther was a ring around the moon, i didnt go but he kept on so i went out and it blew me away !!!
Ya I saw it too from Singapore it was awesome. Actually it happen when ice capes melt from your country and ours near the coast in happened 3 times in 2207 and was posted on yahoo.
Commonly called a "Sun Dog". And that one is a ripper. It is caused much like a rainbow, but in this instance it is ice crystals high up in the atmosphere.
This is a 22 degree halo caused by the refraction of sunlight in cirrostratus clouds. DING DING DING, we finally have a correct (and gramatically correct) answer.
Right concept, wrong cloud type and altitude. Halos like this are caused by cirrostratus, which range from 20,000' (approx. 6 kms) to 40,000' (approx 12 kms) in altitude. Altostratus occurs between altitudes of 6,500' (approx 2 kms) to 20,000'.
I have seen pictures of these rings over Israel.. there were 2 rings and they connected but one did not surround the sun and had 1 cloud like vapor comming off the side of it but was extremely small and hooked...
It's just a beautiful--indeed textbook--example of a 22 degree radius halo produced by a layer of cirrostratus cloud (composed of ice crystals) high up in the atmosphere.

In a nutshell, the cause is sunlight being refracted by the ice crystals which make up cirrostratus clouds in the upper atmosphere (about the height that jet passenger aircraft fly at.)
Halos in camera lenses are normal. The thing is this days you see them with the naked eye. I'm almost certain this has to do with Geo-engineering.
