I have been to many rodeos and have NEVER seen this before now. I can see in the early ranch days you would have to man handle a horse to get it saddled and ridden and there may still be an occasion for this, but in the rodeo's I go to it is not done. Still don't like the steer roping events.

This is a very cruel way to "train" a horse. Clinton Anderson, John Lyons and some other that have slipped the mind at the moment are the way to go. You can still have your wild horse race, but at least treat them with respect they deserve.

These horses are Prey animals which means that they are survival oriented! In the mind of a horse they don't think this person is going to hurt me they feel like they are going to be Killed! I know that these people do not want to kill the horse but to the horse that is how it feels because that is how survival instincts work. Emotionally and Mentally these horses are being abused and it will take SO much if they are ever going to trust a human again!
They may not be physically abused but the fear they experience is immense and beyond measure! It takes a lot for a horse to come back from that and still have room to think and not become robots! These men are ignorant to what they are doing which is better then knowing what they are doing and still doing it. It may seem exhilarating for the men but HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WHERE THE HORSE???? If you understand horse psychology horses do not want to be in this state of right brain fear!
Some of these horses are so scared that they resort to going introverted and giving up. It is the same as humans when someone is tormented beyond what one can take they go into themselves and have a hard time coming back out of it, it is almost a catatonic state! Please just try to understand it from the horses point of view they really feel like they are going to die! I understand these men do it for the thrill but please have some compassion for the equine!

@MsCannon03 Yeah someone has to teach them. Im a horse trainer and i have never found it nessasary to pull a horse over on its back. I have rarely had horses buck in training because of the methods I use. Very simple methods I should add. The horse mounted at 6:30 was no wild animal! Maybe just in the pasture for a good while with minimal contact. You are right about one thing, The halter wont choke them, but that rope that seems to get tangled with the horses may.
they arent killing the horses, so get some sense before saying that something is cruel, they dont shock them, or beat them, there is risk but mostly on the cowboys end.

This is a very cruel way to "train" a horse. Clinton Anderson, John Lyons and some other that have slipped the mind at the moment are the way to go. You can still have your wild horse race, but at least treat them with respect they deserve.

If would choose a position to be in...WAIT! I wouldn't because this is considered to be the dumbest way to train a horse.....It is not really training but if one of these horses are trained to ride it will be 10 x's harder to learn cuz they now think it is about bolting off. That is just my opinion......It does look kinda fun in a way I guess....

These horses are Prey animals which means that they are survival oriented! In the mind of a horse they don't think this person is going to hurt me they feel like they are going to be Killed! I know that these people do not want to kill the horse but to the horse that is how it feels because that is how survival instincts work. Emotionally and Mentally these horses are being abused and it will take SO much if they are ever going to trust a human again!

They may not be physically abused but the fear they experience is immense and beyond measure! It takes a lot for a horse to come back from that and still have room to think and not become robots! These men are ignorant to what they are doing which is better then knowing what they are doing and still doing it. Some of these horses are so scared that they resort to going introverted and giving up. It is the same as humans when someone is tormented beyond what one can take they go into themselves and have a hard time coming back out of it, it is almost a catatonic state! Please just try to understand it from the horses point of view they really feel like they are going to die! I understand these men do it for the thrill but please have some compassion for the equine!

seriously, if someone thought this was cruel 101020sarah, they arent gonna kill themselves. those horses have halter's on and it isnt possible to even choke them. the only thing getting hurt is the three people trying to get a horse to be still long enough to saddle them. obviously, you know nothing about a WILD horse race, meaning they have not been broke to ride. you know horses arent born that way, someone has to teach them, just like potty training a puppy. and who said that was cruel.

@MsCannon03 Yeah someone has to teach them. Im a horse trainer and i have never found it nessasary to pull a horse over on its back. I have rarely had horses buck in training because of the methods I use. Very simple methods I should add. The horse mounted at 6:30 was no wild animal! Maybe just in the pasture for a good while with minimal contact. You are right about one thing, The halter wont choke them, but that rope that seems to get tangled with the horses may.
