  • ↓ Noooooooooooooo!!! Are u crazy?

  • can you do this with hamsters too?

  • I'm just curious to know. I've been contemplating on giving one one white rat a bathe, especially since his tail is brown (even though I clean the cage -_-) However, I've read many places online that say that you can't get the rats ears wet, but, I see your rats putting their heads under water...PLUS, their eyes are open? lol. So, you own them and they go into water, what's the actual truth on rats and water, and their ears?

  • Too cute! This is a great video, thanks. Makes me miss my two girls. :{ About time for me to adopt another pair, I think. :}

  • oh my goodness. that rat has beautiful coloring

  • finally a rat swimming video that doesn't have a BAJILLION dislikes :P

  • your rats have amazing colours!!

  • kill it with fire

  • Thank you for this video! I had been wondering for some time how I could actually introduce my rats to something like this! :) Should be fun! :)

  • ohhhh how cute was that! lovely

  • did u put a squinkie in the water????

  • i think that is very neat that you did that and had time to show others about it. I will try it one day when my rats get a little more comfterable with me. I just got them yesterday!! A dumbo rat and a norwegian rat!!!!

  • how do you know when their comfy with the water?

  • Aww the rats kissed! :D

  • Wow! this is really cool thank you for this and Mishca & Nickalie thank you too =)

  • You guys are the first people I've met that love rats like me xD

  • i tossed my rat in a bucket full of water and he went crazy.

  • @ThumbSkill TOSSED!!

  • They are so incredibly adorable

  • Will this work for hamsters?

  • @pokelegofan Hamster's can't get wet, or else they'll get sick. And when rodents get sick... Well, theres no going back. But if you want to clean your hamster you can get chinchilla bath dust. I have a hamster and she loves to play in it too, especially if you get the little ceramic bath houses.

  • @RandomNumber56 Are you sure? I have a goldn hamster wwho was put in water and he was fine....

  • @pokelegofan Oh, he was? Lol, maybe it was just mine. She was a dwarf hamster, so she was pretty small, and really cute xD

  • @RandomNumber56 I think that is just dwarf hamsters because they are small and maybe sensitive. My goldenhamster needed to be bathed because we took out his house to clean it and he slept in the corner of his cage where he urinated; resulting in him getting very full of stench.

  • what a beautiful rat!!!

  • Thanks for this vid....I handled it all wrong with my rats :<

  • cute!

  • hello everyone, i want a rat so bad but my mom thinks they are nasty and that they smell very bad, can somebody please help me to convince her ? xlove

  • @merelientje1 Hi there. You know, just a month ago my mother wouldn't let me have a rat. In fact, she thought the same things your mom is thinking. But now that I have two rats, I can fully say that they don't smell bad at all and they are very clean! They clean themselves all the time. It's probably one of the cleanest pet you can have, as well as they don't mess with their poop once they're done with their business.

  • @merelientje1 you could watch a how to convince your parents to get a pet video trust me they work thats how i got my rat hope it helps :3

  • @kidchad7

I bet your babies are too

  • @plushiplu oh snap xD

  • @kidchad7 ur weird......

  • @dminter100 diddnt mean it that way =]. they make GREAT pets but also are used for food

  • Awww(:

  • oh my god! The lighter rat looks just like my rat Rolf. Is he a husky?

  • @dont0hate0cuzi0emo Yes rats can swim quite well actually

    :)

  • @TheVivaciousNerd haha, i didnt know that rats are afraid of water. i try to put my rat into water and it was so afraid it jumped right out. then i made some research and i find this vid. i try as oPuPo recomend but after a year she still didn wont to swim nor she ever visited the pool i instaled for her. then i throw her favorite cooke in the water... and guess what... it jumped in water (instantly) and it swims and dives like a pro.. no fear and all this in yust few seconds.

  • @oPuPo What should I do with rats that are already terrified of water? When I went away for a few days my sitter was watching them and she gave hem a traumatizing bath. now they hate water, what can I do about this?

  • @TheVivaciousNerd I don't think that it's important anyway. If the rat doesnt like it, then just don't force it to get to the water at all. It's not like dogs when you HAVE to bath them in the water. Or just put a bowl of water and see how he feels about it

  • How do you clean the rocks and shells? I've often thought it would be fun to let them play with shells from the beach but I don't want them to get sick.

  • I had 2 Rats, Holly and Lilly, they were amazing, and I had them for 3 years. Miss them so much. They loved the Water :). Your Rats are beautiful ^-^ !

  • You, are an inspiration. Rats are one of the best pets for adults, as well as kids. Please make many more vids like this :) Oh, did i say thank you? :)

  • your rats are very beautiful!!:) what kind are they??

  • @Sugarbunny1645 Thanks, after 6 weeks i just eat them :) so its in my best interest to keep them healthy.

  • @GDI109 you eat your rats?!?!

  • @Sugarbunny1645 only a select few that i consider worthy.

  • I miss my rat now =(

  • I never taught that pet rats can be so cute! Their easier to maintain than a dog.

  • Hello! I have one female rat named Star (rats backwards, teehee) and I tried using this technique, but she never goes near the water. I've even filled the bathtub with about a quarter inch of water with a stool in there for her to get out, and she won't even let a little toe touch the water. Peas and corn don't help either! What should I do? I really want her to like the water, as I live in Florida and it can get quite hot...

  • @morgannamae08 keep at it, im no rat expert but if she's hungry she'll be more into the idea of swimming to find food. withdraw her food for a day (rats a hardy, it won't harm them). I'm starting this method with my rats, its such good enrichment and exercise for them!

  • I R INTRADUCING WATER!!!

  • very nice work!!!!!! and your rats are adorable!!!!!!!!

  • uhm is this water dechlorinated?

  • PLZ PLZ PLZ @oPuPo i need to know a few PERFECT treats for my rat(soon to be rat S :D i haven't got another yet but don't worry my rat luna has only been with me for 2 weeks)

  • Love your video.

  • aw they are having so much fun!

  • Rats Underwater = ADORABLE.

  • thanks sooooooooooooooo much for the hints!!! Great to see that my daugther and me arn't the only rat freak!!!

  • he is SOOOO adorable! I have rats too, best pets ever (well ofcourse dogs are awesome too) ;)

  • Great video ! I don't know if I have enough patience to do this, but I appreciate such well-made and full of advices video :) Your rats are really cute ! It's very interesting to see them searching things underwater !

  • My rats introduced themselves to water when they got out of their cage ... they found the fish tank. They even made friends with the fish but it started tasting (not biting just investigating) their tails :p

  • I'm going to introduce my rat to water! It looks like they're having a GREAT time! :)

  • eey i've got a rat called whisky too :) nice videoo

  • Cute little ratties :)

  • @DeathMetal242 This video wasnt made so that you can teach your rats how to "drink" water. It's to teach them to be comfortable around large pools of water, and swim.

  • i dont think you have to introduce a rat into drinking water...

seriously every anmial has does that by instinct, and rats are very smart

but i still think it's a good idea since it looks exciting for the rats

  • my rats just seem to ignore the water when i try to let them in.. but when they dont bath they smell REALLY bad as they do right now... any tips ??

  • I really appreciate the fact that you adjust to your rats' needs, rather than expecting them to adjust to yours. It's refreshing to see someone who respects other species so much.

  • Is this to help them be ok with baths or just to play in water?

  • Buttons: i hate wet fur! *licks self dry*

  • do dumbo rats and fansty rats get along

  • @flaminghotcheetos17 Of course. They arent different breed - same species, they just have different ear types.

  • why pay for a pet rat? just go to an abandoned farm and set a rat cage. diseases aint that bad lol

  • :36 Foiled Again!

  • plus they were kissing LAWL

  • wow u saw that rat humping the ring with his tail? LOL

  • I let mine play in the bath tub, with shallow water, they roll around in it lol. They both love it.

  • your rats are gorgeous.

  • STOP THE ANIMAL ABUSE!!!

  • @ImZa1no

its not animal abuse retard they LIKE it

  • @epikman77 you dont know what they like! this is terrible. Pet owners like this shouldnt even be allowed to be breathing my air

  • @ImZa1no You got to be COMPLETELY out of your mind. It clearly says ''always make it your rat's choice to go in''. They do it on their own! They know how to swim of nature too! THERE'S A REASON FOR THAT!

  • @ImZa1no And how do you know that DOGS don't like water too ? Is that animal abuse when they throw a stick in the water and the dog run for it ? Don't forget that HUMANS are animals too! in a way.. We enjoy going for a swim, JUST like the rats do.

  • @epikman77 i was being sarcastic, this guy goes to everyones pet videos and crys animal abuse.

  • @epikman77 RaTiGaN'z Likez It.

  • @ImZa1no How is this animal abuse, retard? They have ladders to go in and out as they please, and you see them going in on their own free will. Or are you saying that the owner has mind-controlled them to force their legs to move towards the water?

A little thought before shouting "CRIMINAL" would go a long way...

  • @Jandeku My vote is totally for mind control. You didn't see the helmet?

  • @EmpressPhoenix Oh snap, I totally missed that! ...I want one of those...

  • If anybody's interested, the song is "Swim" by Michael Tiernan.

Great song choice for this video. :)

  • So cute!

  • My poor boys had to have a bath after getting into something sticky! Luckily they loved the water and I am hoping to teach them to swim. This video is very informative, thanks a bunch!

  • where can i get clean rocks and pebbles, salt water ones might not be appropriate will they? what temperature does the water have to be?

  • how deep do u want to go for safty

  • what can u use for treats in the water thanks reply

  • WOW!! What type of rats are these? they have the most beautiful fur patterning!

  • I want a pet rat but my mom is scared of them... and im thinking

"Whats so wrong with rats!?" they are obviously one of the best pets a owner can have :P

  • Thank you. This is very Helpful..

  • i'm sorry if im asking a question that might be asked already, but does the water need to be a little warm or as cold as the tap runs it? i know after a while the water might get room temperature anyways, but is it suggestable they get to deal with warmer water first?

  • at 2:18 the 2 rats kissed

  • @TheCutieGirl108

I've not got a straight answer for you on this one. Whiskey liked his water cold, Womble preferred it with a little warmth to it. They lived with a compremise in the end. Try different temperatures and see what they respond best to, don't go too warm, but don't worry about it being cold :)

  • @oPuPo I tryed it once in a warm summer with ice cubes....

I can tell you our rats did not enjoy that!

  • one simple question how do they dry up??

  • @sadorist

After play time they are towel dried as best as possible (they'll enjoy it ;P)

  • @oPuPo Hey um i just got my new rat today my last one Angus passed about a month ago he lived for 4 years. And my new rat Trey is a month old and my parents are divorced and i want to take him back and forth each week so he is not alone is that okay?

  • @AwfulStudios Yes, you should definitely take him along. Rats shouldn't be left alone.

  • @oPuPo Omg that was too cute! I never knew that rats liked water

  • @oPuPo Omg that was too cute! I never knew that rats liked water

  • @sadorist i toss mine on the air hokey table for a few minutes :)

  • My rats have done something with the smaller rocks, there's only a few quite large ones left!!

  • @VideosObviously

True, you do have to watch them rocks!

  • which temperature is the water (about)?

  • what if ur rat is to fat........

  • @sabrinaXisXawsome

Fat rats swim too .... ?

  • Best video ever!! :)

  • thats cool ok does that work even if the rats are already adults??? i got a rat that hates the water but the other loves it and the one that likes it dont like to be in the water alone he likes it when the other ones in there..if i so what you did in the video is there a chance he too will like the water?

  • Question about pet rats: Will pets rats fight wild rats or mice that invade your home?

  • i have 2,6 month old rats that HATE the water and i tried to use the method but they won't really get in, all they are interested is the treats lol, i've been doing if for like a month (only 1 inch water) and nothing has really changed? do you have any other tips?

  • I used this video's method to introduce my rats to water but only one of them wanted to get in! lol. Cute rats!

  • *sniffle* this makes me miss my pet rat, Nezumi. She was the best pet rat ever!

  • your rats are just darling :) I wish i could have one.

  • i want a pet rat but idk witch one to get

  • i am to late -.- my rat is almost dead and i am so sad he did not get to be in water :'(

  • heres how i introduced mine i threw him in

  • Thanks so much for this video! Wish I had seen this earlier lol

  • video was entertaining and very helpful rat was also cute x

  • OMG what a pretty Rat 0:53

  • someone help i have 2 females and no matter what toy i put with them (even on land) they refuse to play with it and scream when water even touches them as if it was acid and they look deppressed like they have nothing to do and they run around the entire house almost all day long

  • @colonelkillyou that's what happened to my two male cats. Do you want to introduce your rats to meet my cats, they could communicate with each other.

  • @cheetahhook well im not sure if your making a joke about your cats eating them or your seriouse but thanks anyway

  • @colonelkillyou no i am serious, actually I am curious what kind of thing would happen if a male cat and a female rat have a baby together.... (like lion & tiger could have baby.)

  • You Know. I'm Just Checking. I'm Going To Get 2 Female Rats. But One Fancy Rat And The Other Is Going To Be A Dumbo...That's Okay Right?

Can They Be Together? Both Female. Please And Thanks

  • omg they are exactly the same as mine! little unsure about how to introduce rasta to a new friend though. i'm not sure if he'll become territorial or not because i've had him on his own for about 4 months now. any tips on how to bring a new rat in without causing fights would be very helpfull :)

  • @dezgog If you have multiple rats, please always add a cat to live with them, and then I am sure rats won't fight with each other. That's my experience.

  • @cheetahhook ahh ok but my cat has come home with countless mice in the past. i'm just scared my rat will face the same fate lol

  • What kind of rat is that?I have 2 Fancy Rats there names are Caramel and Felice.I love them more then anything!BTW love the video:)

  • And now.. I suddenly feel bad for using rat poison to kill such cute little critters in my tool shed.

  • Yeah, definitely do this! My rat had to get a bath today because he's been pretty stinky and it wasn't going away. I'd never introduced him to water and he hated it! Poor baby! He didn't scratch or bite, he just keep looking at me, begging me to take him out. It broke my heart!

  • @jypsyjulia D':

  • I tried putting my rat in water yesterday...I wish I would've seen this first! :O

  • @FallaciousDeception What happened to your rat?

  • @imirocks1999 He freaked out a lot then scratched up my arms very badly trying to escape the horrors of aquatics...I think I'll try again, like this. He's very lazy (but I love him) and I think it would be good if I could get him to exercise in different ways (he never runs in his wheel, he just sleeps in it).

Also:Your rats are completely adorable. I wish mine would follow their example...:)

  • I have 3 rats.

  • i have 2 pets rats but they dont seem to be up when i am its like they just dont want to be botherd plz help

  • @gamesaver1000

rats are nocturnal, so they are active at night, but they are usually still happy to get up and play a few times in the day if there tame enuff, one of mine always gets up when people go past the cage :)

  • what an absolutely lovely rat owner

  • say selena gomez 10 timesand cover your mouth. post this to two videos thencheck your voice

  • strange....... my rat just dived right into the bathtub.......... no training needed but then again.... stimpson even listened to his name :/

  • okay, you guys definatly need patients for this! my rats I used to just put them in and they hated it. If you don't have patients, this wont work.

  • bubbles 0-0 are you sure those are not rat bubbles that come from their hole XD!

  • What kind of treats do you use for your rats? My little girl is very fussy and ive tried alot of things but she just doesn't want it.

  • @lilbuddee

Mine are impossible to stop. What ever I'm eating, they demand.

Try cheerios, little bits of dried bread, really thin slices of pizza crust, sunflower seeds (very sparingly, as they have a lot of fat), fruit..

Getting her used to taking treats is important for when you need to give medication. A strong tasting treat will hide bad tasting antibiotics.

If she doesn't eat it at first, and she trusts you, try eating some yourself and let her smell your breath so she knows it's safe.

  • @JohnBailey39

Awesome, thats a good tip... i will be sure to try it. thanks :)

  • I have a feeling that one of my boys could really take to this... he always gets into my glass of water and tries to pull the ice cubes out!

  • What if they come out right as their paw gets wet? My rat Cammi runs back and wipes her paws on anything near as soon as her paw get wet.

  • im haveing an argument with my parents to get a rat! XD

  • @7footballfanatic7 Hello there. I disliked your comment. Have a nice day! :)

  • @kitkatkittykat5000 simply disgusting, yuck!!

  • My girls didn't like the tub much so I installed a little mini tub in their cage that can come out for easy cleaning and water replacing. A day later my 9 week old albino was fishing in the water for the pebbles. I posted a video response of her playing in the tub. :)

  • Thumbs up if you thing rats are best pets :)

  • @ceveze2 They're pretty cheap too.

  • I thought you werent suposed to get water in the ears? your rats are dunking their heads in.... whats your take on that?

  • @ratman2372 I'm pretty sure it's common for some rats to dive to get things from the bottom of water, maybe you're just supposed to keep an eye on it?

  • ok good vid does the water have to be warm and is this a good trick for a hairless rat

  • 2:08 HEY LOOK!!! the rat can swim! he floats he... HE'S NOT BREATHING AAAAH!!!!

  • OMG why is he so big! lol theyre so cute =3

  • i have two rats and i was just wondering it is normal for them to fight with each other

    p.s. they are both male

  • I gave my rats a bath befor and they didnt like the water at all. Can i still do this?

  • How often did you take em out ? every day or one a week ?

  • Can you still introduce them to water even if they are a little bit older??

  • cute :)

  • Aw! Were they kissing at 02:17? Do the rats know not to {AHEM!} "GO" in the water? Or do you have to "clean up" after each playtime?
