i thort andy was doing sum massive pull dwn counters off yods body kiks and timing his counters underneath and handwork beautifuly and after watching this i think evry1 should have pull downs in there arsenal it beats taking body kiks all night
Just judging these two rounds. Souwer easily won them both. Yod was just throwing a single kick or punch at a time and landed one for every 12 or 15 thrown. Andy blocked almost all of it AND countered and landed at a very high rate. Yod may have been more "active" but you still have to score, you just cant kick your way to victory. If that were the case, it would be a game of cardio more then skill. Andy clearly won the first two rounds here.
@TheRevolution33 I dont understand, what do you mean by andy blocked almost all of yods kicks? Yod was kicking his forearm! And that was Yods game plan. Do you know how much been kicked in the forearm hurts? It brings the fighters arm down so u can throw punches past there guard and yes u do score points by kicking someones forearm!
@031ish Ok, well Im a professional fighter so I do know how much it hurts but its not scoring. Blocking body kicks with your arms is exactly what it is "a block". If a fighter stays active that will "score" in some way for them but kicking another fighters forearms is NOT scoring. Lets just put it this way, if one fighter throws a leg kick and the other checks it with his shin, would that score for the one throwing the kick? No it would not, the kick was checked (blocked) and therefore
@031ish did not score. Same goes for blocked kicks to the body. Now, if a fighter gets kicked and never answers back with a return of some sort then the fighter that is kicking is now scoring in a way of "staying busy". Just because something hurts doesnt mean it scoring. Yod was kicking and Andy was blocking AND returning immediately with kicks and punches and was landing. Thats what counts, thats what is scoring. If Andy would have just stood there and not returned, Yod would be winning.
@TheRevolution33 Obviously we are watching a different fight? Looks like Yod landed a fair percentage of kicks. If you look carefully enough, half of his middle kicks were not blocked. Also, the only countershots that Souwer landed were his low kicks. His punches barely touched Yod who had immaculate head movement. Also, Yod countered Souwer's punches accurately and stopped Souwer from coming forward. 2nd Round, Souwer resorted to clinch work, and still got owned...
@Basketbaka1031 I just watched it twice more and didnt see Yod land a single mid kick. He glanced about 3 mid kicks while Andy was kicking his supporting leg. Listen, you obviously dont know how Andy and most European kickboxers block mid kicks so please dont come on here stating that they arent blocking. Get educated on how he and others block then watch again. AGAIN, kicking the forearms is NOT landing a kick, thats how they block. I could go on but then Id need to charge you for a lesson.
@TheRevolution33 The point is not scoring! The point is that it wears your opponent down! Even if you block with your arms those kick hurt like hell!
@yuv06 I totally understand what you are saying because I am a professional fighter and am trained by one of the hardest kickers, Maurice Smith. But what you dont understand is the dutch style of blocking body kicks. Our style does not use the leg and one hand to block body kicks. We use both forearms to block body kicks. In doing so, it keeps both feet firmly on the ground which translates to fast counters of any sort and thats what you see Andy doing in this fight. Hurt or not, its a block
@lloki13 What bullshit. Souwer just scored more points. The kickboxing system awards combinations, control and skill. On top of that, blocked hits don't score, so you can't just punch often with zero skill, and win.
Now for some reason Yod found it necessary to make many single actions and many kicks that were easy to block. Souwer is a more complete fighter and won as a result. In fact, it's not Souwer's toughest fight. Yod just didn't bother to prepare for normal kickboxing rules.
@Blahb27 I disagree. I think Yod was more aggressive and landed the more telling blows. I don't speak Dutch so I can't tell if this thing was strictly kickboxing rules like you're claiming. But if it is a K-1 rules fight or "It"s Showtime" rules, Yod was robbed! I love Andy, he's one of my favorite fighters, but I don't like seeing one guy robbed while the othe rproclaims victory especially when said victory isn't clearly EARNED.
Yodsanklai won this for sure. A lot of people are coming on here and saying yod lost because it was under k1 rules but k1 rules or mt rules yod still won. I know how to score a MT and K1 fight and this was a complet robbery. I have nothing against andy but I dont know what it is about him and thais! On both occasions andy fought buakaw, buakaw dominated and won but the judges for reason gave it to andy. There is obviously something very doddgy going on here.
I wonder why Yod makes so many midkicks while he's clever enough to know Souwer won't fail to block even one unless distracted by something else. It takes up energy, scores zero points, and he knows Souwer's not one to perform any less by a little pain.
@fruktsniffarn Lol mate, you just don't break people's arms kicking them. That's really an exception no gameplan would aim for.
That's what left me wondering about this fight. How can a fighter of Yod's calibre (I'm not contending he's good) be stupid enough to not prepare for regular kickboxing rules?
It's so different from muai thai rules in terms of scoring that it's downright silly to make the transition without preparing for it.
I'm sorry but this is a fight. And in this fight Yodsaenklai obviously consistently held the upper hand. He got lazy in later rounds but that's cos he knew he won... Yes Souwer put up a good fight but it was impossible to say Souwer won it.. This is probably the reason why Buakaw can't win either..
Its all about points my friend, where do you see yod make points with k1 rules? Souwer hit every lowkick that he tried, all points. Yod only hits the block.
Yodsaenklai landed most of the kicks perfectly right under Andys parades. Everytime andy tried to punch Yodsaenklai, Yodsaenklai just evaded them or blockt them. Don't get me wrong, am my favorit fighers are Andy andYodsaenklai. But this is sow lame, Yodsaenklai clearly won the fight after third round. Andy never got Yodsaenklai afterwards, he only pressed him up to the corners nothing more....
Souwer just makes more clean hits and he tries to mix it up, makes combinations. I think Yodsaenklai is a fantastic fighter but he needs to adapt to k1, why doesnt he kick to the legs?
Thats what i think aswell, k1 judging is less tecnnical then MT, its more based on the feel of a fight and you can really see Souwer is trying hs hardest Yod is trying but like with most of the thais it doesnt really show. They are always so calm. in K1 close matches most of the time go to the guy who pushes the action. You need to show you want to win in k1, go for the ko. The same middlekick 100 times, starts to look negative.
yeah true that it didnt score anything, thats where yod have to work to be better in k-1 !!!! but i meant that is why yod kicking his hand to weaken his andys hand : )
Souwer's defence was extremely tight, his defensive manoeuvres were perfectly timed and executed (as always). If you can't see that you must be blind.
Do you understand K-1 rules or fight sports in general? Have you ever competed?
Your comment is inconsistent.
You called Souwer a "pussy" (which he clearly isn't), yet he continued pressing forward despite the fact that (in your opinion) he was taking more damage.
Swearing at me doesn't make you look intelligent, so don't do it.
Do you believe thais to be immune to low kicks because they're superhuman freaks of nature? Or for some other reason?
Low kicks can potentially devastate anyone, regardless of conditioning. Thais often get stopped by low kicks, Petrosyan stopped a few this way during his time in Thailand.
@MAS4T0...Its not that there immune its because thai fighters start as young as 6 and by the time there 20 most fighters have had at least 200 fights so there used to pain more then other fighters but dont get me wrong, just like you said thai fighters can still be stopped by low kicks.
It's not the pain that's the problem. They can deal with the pain.
It's the deadening of the leg (which slows movement) and the eventual loss of all strength, to the point that the leg will no longer support the fighters weight.
Eventually, the leg will give out and you'll be unable to stand, regardless of pain tolerance or conditioning.
It's just the bright colours of Yellow and White that make the gloves look big. Both "Grant" and "Reyes" gloves in Boxing have the same visual effect of "looking bigger" when fighters use Green, yellow, purple or white gloves but they truly are 8 or 10oz.
R. Dekker was the one of many foreign boxers who willingly to fight under full muay thai rules. Now a day not many have that guts. therefore most of them stay away from this type of tournament. Sakmongkol, jomhod, orono and many more thais never been beaten by the dutch
I know what i said is going to cause alot of fighting and i just want to say that the second round could have gone either way! That said, having the fight on andy's terf could have led to biases.
1st is definetly yod's round. second round is extremely close. Andy landed absolutely no punch combinations. All Andy really had the second round were his low kicks which he landed a lot of. Yod threw alot of high kicks. Some landed flush scoring higher than low kicks, while others were technically "blocked" however, i believe that the blocked high kicks showed aggression on Yod's behalf. Yod also landed with his hands more than Andy. I would have given the second round to Yod making him winner.
completely bullshit decision. yod won this after three rounds should never have had to have gone to the extra round. He lost the extra round, sure, he was gassed. but in his post match interview yod said that the promoters made him lose two kilos the night before the fight which was WHY he lost that round. And if u dont think the judges were full of shit watch anuwats fight on the same night and tell me how on earth that could EVER have been a draw.
Well they drove him in terrible vans with no airconditioning to a venue where the fight was due to be held then he had to drive another few hrs to the stadium were the fight was changed at the last moment with no notification.
Frequently he won fights but thai judges of course gave the decision to the home fighter.
Why does Souwer always wear long pants? is it made of some kinda special material or something? i wanna see him fight in shorts just so that i know he's not getting anything out of suspiscous pants.
there shoot boxing trousers, look it up. most of then have a small amount of leather pading down the shin an foot. if its what your used to in the ring then why change it
Well then if Souwer is used to it, then surely they should have allowed elbows for Yodsanklai coz he's used to that? that "small amount of leather padding" could give a fraction of advantage to Souwer if not the least. Just want to see Souwer without those leotards to see if he's still the same. And no I don't wanna look up. shoot box = american wannbes of chute boxe?
shootboxing was invented by a japanese dude, caesar takeshi, as on offshoot of kickboxing. if you're going to be ignorant, do it with some knowledge of what you're talking about.
Hey dick face, we can all type "shoot boxing" in google or wikipedia so if you really wanna prove how smart you are, do that in real life.
병신새끼야. and when the fuck did i say that it wasn't originated from Japan? It was your pseudo-assumption just so that you could say ''omg you're ignorant blah blah blah.'' you're the true ignorant one here.
He doesn't get anything special out of it. It's not made out of leather or any protective materials. It's just simple clothing. If you know anything about Andy Souwer, he used to fight in regular thai shorts before. And Yodsanklai rarely uses elbows if you actually know him.
Perhaps you can tell that shit to the previous commentor who said its made of LEATHER. (i.e. certain amount of prot). And, no, i dont 'actually know' yodsanklai, and yes he doesn't use elbow that much but if elbow was allowed it'd be a great advantage to the thai than souwer if you have a brain.
oh my god go look at any shoot boxe pants anywhere on the net, they have fucking leather padding. k1 rules state you can wear padding on your legs if its pre approved before the fight so fuck off!!!
mate your wrong face it go to google images type in andy souwer look at his legs when hes fighting in k1 max pictures, you can clearly see a strip running down his shin, just like masato wears ancle supports with padding in them, when buakaw fought shishido, shishido clearly had thick padding down his legs an on his feet.. oh but artical blah blah says blah blah, but they still where it fact... get a grip u mug
i thort andy was doing sum massive pull dwn counters off yods body kiks and timing his counters underneath and handwork beautifuly and after watching this i think evry1 should have pull downs in there arsenal it beats taking body kiks all night

Yod did more work than Souwer but Souwer landed more.
If you watch really closely then you'll see just how tight Souwer's defense is, nothing significant got through.
Remember, attacks that are blocked (meaning they land on the arms or gloves) do not score.
This is after all K-1 rules, not Muay-Thai.
This was clearly Souwer's fight. Under the K-1 scoring system Souwer should have won it without the extension.
MAS4T0 2 years ago
are u insane?? yod landed more and his tactic always involves itting his opponents hand to make it weaker ,yod is not that simple

No, Souwer got more shots through than Yod.

And Yodsanklai rarely uses elbows if you actually know him.
leem0401 3 years ago
Perhaps you can tell that shit to the previous commentor who said its made of LEATHER. (i.e. certain amount of prot). And, no, i dont 'actually know' yodsanklai, and yes he doesn't use elbow that much but if elbow was allowed it'd be a great advantage to the thai than souwer if you have a brain.

oh my god go look at any shoot boxe pants anywhere on the net, they have fucking leather padding. k1 rules state you can wear padding on your legs if its pre approved before the fight so fuck off!!!
benzy199 3 years ago
Go on the oficial K-1 site, read article-18 and article 20. Doesn't say shit about leather paddings. eat my balls and fuck off.

mate your wrong face it go to google images type in andy souwer look at his legs when hes fighting in k1 max pictures, you can clearly see a strip running down his shin, just like masato wears ancle supports with padding in them, when buakaw fought shishido, shishido clearly had thick padding down his legs an on his feet.. oh but artical blah blah says blah blah, but they still where it fact... get a grip u mug

I have to disagree with Yodsanklai rarely uses elbows... Just watch the match with Jongsanan vs Sakmongkol. Jongsanan AKA Yodsanklai.

Hypocritical fucktard, you have just 한국인들이름에 먹칠했다. 미친놈 congrats.

Yodsanklai asked for K-1 rules. Therefore, no elbows.
