  • This is a beautiful video. I hope you got the extra credit and then some because you moved me so much with this video it brought tears to my eyes. You are so talented. :)

  • @debbiez112 I'm still amazed by what can be said

by saying nothing. These are just pictures put together in

an interesting way. You're the one that brings heart and

meaning to it. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Yep just as moving as the first time I watched it

  • You're a good filmmaker. I'm watching your videos over time. I'm sort of ADHD when it comes to other peoples' stuff. I hate that about myself. Are you a parent? I'm a big MO, but I wish I had had a child. I would have been a lousy - but affectionate - parent. Glad I found you (or, you found me, actually). Looking forward to more of your work.

  • You're a big Missouri then. Well, I'm a big CA. Yes, wiliefogle, I'm a parent of a big 25 year old. I've had many lives, you see. And it all led me to try to capture a feeling of regret in this video. It is regret, of course, for not being the kind of parent a child deserves. I think I succeeded to some degree in doing that. I'm currently living in San Francisco. Help!

  • MO = homo :) Wow. I so WISH I had had a little boy! Envy. My partner has a son (age 30).

  • Beautiful Video not sure how I missed this one !

  • Look at this. It's been days since your last visit. I'm glad you stopped by. Sorry I was out thinking of great video ideas. Unfortunately, they've already been done by others.

  • Beautiful! Were they letters to a child that went to heaven? Love the video.

    Lauren

  • Letters from a Dad that went away.

  • Omg Robert~! Exquisite. Beautiful, sad, and contemplative. We're ready for your feature.

  • Aw, thanks.

    It's a very simple

    little message.

    Send those letters.

    Say what you mean.

  • But ...then we discover that he turns all his letters into origami-boats and sends them to his ceiling. It moved me.

  • Wow....I loved this~ First video Ive watched on YT in a looooong time :)

  • This is lovely, there is such a nice mellow mood to this video, and the music fits perfectly.

  • Thank you for the visit.

  • very beautiful keep it up ;)

Paris Lo in las vegas ;)

  • Beautiful...moving...thoughtful and thought provoking...like all your work!

    Hope you are well!

  • You are missed.

    Thank you for stopping by.

    Looking forward to more sights

from your part of the world.

    Peace.

  • ...have been "lazy"....you are misssd too!!!

  • This is captivating, i have no words to describe as you just got to watch!

    : )

  • wow Robert what a great video awesome editing been a while buddy hows life?

  • Quite wonderful and just a touch surreal. I like this video very much.

  • Thank you, DameEdithDivine. It's all so sublime. Peace and love.

  • This is wonderful.

  • Ah, well, thank you for watching. Peace and love.

  • The feelings here are strong for me, having lost my father just over two years ago. I'm sure that there are things he may have wanted to say to me but couldn't say them to my face for some reason. It was not his way...

  • VeRy CoOl, MaN.

    iNsTaNt FaVoRiTe.

  • I love it too much to ever leave it,

    unwatched by alternate name...

I like it so much, ill watch it,

    by several other names...

The bloom of its Rosebud, still blooms,

    by any other name...

  • That's a really beautiful response.

  • Powerful video Robert!

We should learn to express our thoughts and feelings....before it's too late.

This video really moved me....I'm seldom without words..but, at this moment...I just can't find the right ones to express the emptiness I feel inside after watching this brilliant piece of work. You are a true artist.

    Heart Hugs~Nancy

  • Nancy, it still amazes me how a collection of a few images can add up to a whole lot of feeling. I wish I could make videos that delight people always. But I've learned it's best to go with how I feel at the time. Next time I'll make you smile. I promise.

  • No need to be concerned about me not smiling. This is a brilliant piece of work. You have in just a few short minutes managed to reach in and touch people very deeply. I stand and applaud you.!!

(And give you a hug) :-)

Will your next one have monkeys?

  • I was just reflecting on your video again. It stirred up some thoughts of my biological 'donor' and thoughts of my dad. I wonder if he wonders about me and then feel guilty for being curious about a man who never seemed to care. Thank you so much for bringing me a new perspective. xo

  • I can't being to describe how i feel about this vid. Your presentation is very well done. Love it!

  • It means a lot to me that you enjoyed

this video. I took a lot of thought putting

it together, and it looks like the response

    was more than I imagined.

  • I meant 'begin', lol. I should practice spell check more often, hahaha!

Today, I have a new view. Your work made me feel different today upon watching again. It was worth your efforts!

  • Robert, this really touched my heart. I've said this before and I'll say it again...You are brilliant and a great guy.

    (((Hugs)))

    ~Mimi

  • The close up shots are very well done and the music adds that emotional touch. Very nicely done robertpina!

  • Hey, thanks, you guys!

  • Very touching.

So emotional and personal for me, I cant go there.

    Very well done.

Im would love to create something like this!!!!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  • i am sorry for being so late.

this made me think about an incident when i was only 9, something my dad did, and he stopped being my hero for the rest of my childhood, 3 years ago i did the same thing to him, without realizing. after it hit me how i wasted years in being a terrible ass to my Dad. We talked a lot after that and i am lucky to say, he died as my best friend.

i am blabbering too much, Bravo!!!

  • Ah, but this is themessage I

    hoped this video would have

    --that of remembrance.

Even though love is lost, and

may not come again, we will

    not forget.

    forgotten.

  • This was beautiful Robert:)

    John McQuilkin - Hollywood Happens

    The Unofficial Spokesperson of Hollywood

  • Thanks, Mr McQuilkin. You rawk

on a daily basis. Keep inspiring

    the masses.

  • and furthermore.... so much more. What do i know about technical. Makes me want to go to the class, just for the assignment challenge. Criso work. I couldnt stop thinking about this one, as i stepped outside a few min in the dark... its poignant. The memoirs beside the table. The expressed feelings... Bravo Bravo

  • I feel, close to tears, yet so motivated to praise you here Robert. I wish for one day, and i almost had that chance, i could live in your mind! Your work is stunning, captivating and so technically perfect! Man,,,, i wish there was a bouquet of letters written for me... Love indeed!

  • It was beautiful and sad at the same time. It was like watching a movie where a father wanted to reach out to his son but felt that he couldn't for one reason or another.

  • I'm always amazed the

    point comes across

    without using a single

    word. You read my

    thoughts exactly.

  • I am always speechless and emotion filled when I watch yr work...thank you for sharing yr wonderful visions with us. yr an afternoon delight. *****

  • Thank you very much. It just wouldn't be

worth doing if there wasn't anyone there

to share it with. I'm glad you're there.

  • Wow, you always amaze me, Robert! Very thoughtful video!

  • Hey, Dennis, sometimes I amaze myself. Nice to hear from you.

  • Cinema should make you forget you are sitting in a theater. ~Roman Polanski

You just made me forget I am sitting at my desk, awesome Robert. Your magic is a gift for us all, thank you;)

    xxoo

  • That's a brilliant quote by Polanski. I don't recall ever hearing it. Personally, I think if a movie can take my mind off popcorn and chocolate raisins, it must be pretty good.

  • WOW. This made me well up with tears. So sad... Thank you for this. Makes me think how many times I have failed to say what I should have said before it was too late. Absolutely beautiful work.

  • It still amazes me how a small collection of images can make someone feel something. I wanted to make something sweet and heartfelt and work on basic editing. It turned out to have a little more meaning for me too.

  • Just stopping in again! I was just going to watch and not write, but I must! Thanks for this wonderful video Robert!

  • By all means keep watching. Watch it another thousand times. I won't complain. Thanks, Pops. You're a good sport.

  • another 5 star effort :)

    beautiful video.

  • Thank you, Dan.

  • Beautiful message. You are so talented. I always look forward to your videos and watch them over and over.

  • It's very nice

    of you to keep

    watching. I

    appreciate it.

  • Very touching Robert! Peace and Light 2 U :)

  • Ah, yes, thank you for sending some light, Jan.

  • What a beautiful video.. so glad I found it

  • Thank you, Melissa. Braces rock.

  • BEAUTIFUL ART! That's that! Pops

  • Thank you, Pops. You two seem like wonderful creative people, and I appreciate the things you do on here. Peace.

  • Robert this is beautiful! I love that you shot it over the shoulder. Just beautiful!

I'm sorry I didn't see this the day you posted it. I don't know why that happens to my subs list sometimes. :(

Let me know how your chia head comes out. ;) Cha cha cha chia!

  • I'm glad you're doing the Lemonette 12 Step program. I've seen more of your city than the one I live in, and I want more! Keep taking us to those unexpected places in your own back yard.

  • This is very touching and almost made me cry!

  • Oh, watch it. No crying allowed here. I'm glad it hit a tender spot. Let's move on to happier things. Peace.

  • It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.

  • No, gosh, thank you. I feel like the neighbors who comes over, and all he talks about is himself. My video, my this, my that. Did you really like it? : )

  • robert that was sad, but great from a technical point of view over the shoulder, coverage, extreme close-up etc....

i would never think that u did that alone. now i want to know more about the dad and son.

    michael

  • Michael, we were encouraged to make joint projects, but I'm the shy type. Playing the part of the father in this scene is yours truly. Notice the second shot when the boat goes up. it's not the same one. I stepped on the first boat.

  • Pure brilliance, Robert! To say so much, so simply. That final shot can't help but stir some emotions.

  • My God, you're brilliant!

Such joy to watch what comes out of your imagination.

  • Dead of Winter, The Dinner Guest and Queen of Evil. These are all titles from a stunning imagination.

  • I hope this doesn't mean your ship has sailed, Robert. It's never too late to make a fresh start.

This is an A+ in my grade book! Great idea, as always. Bravo!

  • True. Takes courage though.

  • I thought courage was that little dangling piece of skin in the back of your throat. Do you have one of those? ;)

  • I'm glad your short pee break is over. I love your stuff.

  • I love this place, and I try to do my best.

  • BEAUTIFUL JUST BEAUTIFUL

  • Ah, was nothin', but I'm glad you liked it.

  • You'll get an A for sure.

  • Ah, at this point I just want to pass the class and move on. See what's out there. I should have done this long ago. There's still time.

  • Honestly, your artistic talent astounds me. :O)

  • I know it looks artistic, but I spend a lot of time thinking it through. Many would say that's cheating. Thank you for taking a look at it.

  • Contrary to how some may believe, artistry involves thinking and intellect as well innate talent. I hope you understand that my previous comment was a complement to your original ideas as well as your ability to execute them. Why would you think "many would say (thinking it through) is cheating"? As an artist myself, I wonder if others think no effort is involved in my "work" or if they even consider art as work at all. ART IS EVERYWHERE!! Think what the world would be without us.

  • Of course I took your comment as a compliment. I guess I was referring to how too much thinking impedes creativity, and then the time is gone. My acting teacher used to say, just do it.

  • another visually stunning and moving piece from you Robert.

    I really admire your style.

  • ..and yet, there's not one Banana in sight!! How does the man do it?? :)

  • LO, you're too funny. I should hide a banana or rubber chicken in every scene even the serious ones.

  • I put a Banana in one of my modelling videos, just to see the reaction... not many noticed!! :)

  • Hey, Liza Manelli, Edith Piaf, and Joan Crawford made stunning come backs to the stage. What they discovered on their return is the audience never left. While some of us have left for a short pee break, we're still here for you, LeSaMilano.

  • I actually 100% second that opinion.. :)

  • A+.Paper and string.=) I wish the son could get those letters. If only I mailed all those cards I get for people.

Are you taking time off of school for the summer?

  • You gotta send those cards. Don't put it off like I do. I might take an online class and probably one on campus. I never finished college, so I have a lot of catching up to do. It's going by pretty fast though.

  • Beautifully done. Took my imagination in different directions, almost pictured the letter intended for someone over the ocean and being pushed into water and floating away. Very inspiring - I enjoyed this.

  • Well, now. There's a coy pond in the park. Hey, that gives me an idea.

  • another stunning piece of art. So glad to see you come up on my subs list. I miss you and hope you are well. xo

  • Ah, you know. I'm always kicking around here. A lot more lately.

  • Very moving and very well done Robert! At first when I saw you folding the paper I thought you were making a paper airplane out of it and was going to throw it to someone.

  • That was what I had in mind. But I went online and learned how to fold a paper boat instead. I could never fold a paper airplane that could actually fly.

  • This is beautiful, what does it mean? A dad writing to his deceased son?

  • What it means for me is that sometimes we want to reach out to others--write a letter, make a phone call--but for some reason we just don't.

  • I know all about that.. I'm one of those 'don't-ers', even though I know I should..

  • thoughts floating on the brain

    anchored with a pen

then finally docked, but never seen

    a++!

how long have you been taking the class?

  • Hey, I decided to go to school and major in film. This video is the final in my editing class. It covers some pretty basic shots. They're not really teaching film anymore. It's all about video. I can honestly say that my love for YouTube and the people I met here are taking me in a direction I never thought I'd take.

  • same here

i'm thinking about majoring in 'media arts and production'

still trying to figure out when and where i'll be enrolling

but it's more likely than not that i'll be doing it

i'd also like to do in front of the camera stuff as well, that'll be some other way

keep on man, you always inspire me

  • They have a pretty good program at San Francisco State. I think I'll be taking cinematography and screenwriting next. My favorite classes have been the history and theory classes where you watch movies for three hours and talk about them. My dream is to form a group and make really cool movies together. Let's do it!

  • This was Beautiful!!!

    10 **********Stars Robert!!

    Really great!

  • Hey, there! Sometimes it turns out just the

    way we imagined it.

  • Oh my goodness....

Robert, this has got to be one of the best short & silent's I've ever had the chance to see.

I'm going to send this all around to all of my friends and contacts if you don't mind.

That made me want to cry. Bravo.

  • Obviously.

  • Thank you, Ben. These videos I make are my tiny sailing ships on the huge Internet ocean.

  • Moving...and thoughtful ...as always!

It is each time a great pleasure to find a new film from you. Thanks :-)

  • Honestly, the thought that goes through my head when I upload a video is, is this good enough for them. You always remind me that it is. Thank you.

  • very creative... looks like it has been a fun class.... peace

  • It's been a fun class. It's helped me realize there is a whole lot more to this. I think I'll keep going.

  • Hi Robert, I've written many letters over the years that were never mailed. It's sometimes good therapy just to get your thoughts out on paper and then just cast them aside and move on....

  • I still think about the letter I never sent years ago that could have made a huge difference. It's a good idea to move on, yes.

  • Very touching Robert,

    5* & favorited,

    Sandi

  • Thanks for Suze for sharing ! 5 star beautiful.

  • Thank you very much for watching.

  • When a video is so powerful that it touches your soul and silences your mind, it's best left uncommented on.

  • I'm glad you commented anyway. I never touched your soul. I wasn't anywhere near it. I swear I didn't.

  • He's the one! That guy on the left, he's the one who touched me.

  • I"m still laughing. You're a kook.

  • Wow! So incredible. I'm speechless.

  • If I made an impression on you, it's because you had an open heart from the start. : )

  • aww that was touching...Your videos always move me...Thank you for making them.

  • And you make me laugh. Where has Wanda been lately?

  • Moved to tears for all we leave unsaid and undone in our lives. Suze

  • Ah, yes, that's the point. I'm always afraid the shots don't add up to anything meaningful. I'm glad they did.

  • Another thought provoking video! I won't even begin to think what was in your creative mind while making this video. A feeling of sadness came over me thinking of all the words that weren't read and the loneliness from the loss of contact for whatever the reason! This video isn't watched, it's experienced...;-)

  • Yes, that's it exactly, the loss of contact but not the loss of hope. YouTube and the community have helped me understand the link between the video and how it affects the viewer. It's a dialogue.

  • Dear Robert,

another great and different video. I think I know the meaning - or at least I got a meaning from it. Your videos are like poems only much better. It was like watching someone in one sense, but in another sense it was like having someone make a video and the course of it not being predictable. I hope it wasn't as sad as it appeared for you.

  • Well, making a video like this is very technical. I'm studying how to arrange shots around a master shot. That would be the shot with my back to the camera. I use a heavy wooden tripod, so it was a pain moving the camera around. But, yes, it was as sad as it appears.

  • that was beyond words

    xoexo

  • Silence is golden, yes.

  • love

  • peace

  • Robert, I've been away from YT for a long time and you're one of the first people I'm checking out again. I don't fully understand this video. (Apparently the others do), But just as they used to, your videos move me like no others. You are such a prize. -sue

  • Hi, Sue. It's okay. I make my videos so that they mean something different to everyone. To me it means a combination of things. There's not just one meaning.

  • That was so cool and then it was so sad.

I wish I could give you 1,000 stars for this one.

    Loves,

    Mooz

  • You pay back many times over with your funny videos. : )

  • a wall of boats, wait in the silence; I know this sensation.

  • I thought I'd make a video about the feelings we all share but don't really talk about.

  • Heloo sweetheart (czmma!) xoxo

  • that was awesome in a painful and moving way. you are amazing, dude. made me want to come over and say come on let's go get a beer.

    5*

  • Ya, sometimes you have to make these videos to get them out of the way. Then you can go out and have more beer.

  • Wow Robert...just wow.

  • Awesome work! But when are you going to make another funny one for the guys? :)

  • Oh wow Robert, very moving.

  • Thank you for watching, Lizi99.

  • Thank you rap master hallbe. : )

  • Robert, that was very touching.. When you wrote "dear son" I got tears in my eyes.. You are magnificent..

  • My son is older now, and I don't even know him. These are the letters I wish I had sent him many times over.

  • I wondered if this video was about such a situation when I watched it the first time around - a couple of months ago. When I watched it then and now I also saw in it a sense of the difficulty of writing a letter to someone you / I love, and the wanting to post it but the not knowing if one should, etc. This film was as beautiful and as glorious and as moving as ever. Also, your son is missing out on a great father. You are a great guy.

  • Ah, StuartGalore, This project killed my Sony camcorder. It will be a while before any videos are made. The next one is a funny one. Promise.

  • Oh i loved this!

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • Thank you for the hugs! You have the best hugs.

  • :-)

  • Continued good health to you, Ken.

  • another gem from the master of surrealism

  • That from the master of song. Thank you!
