  • I have a set of 5500's and love them, BUT I hate the 99 only limitation per playlist. If I'd known about this I would not have purchased them. It's caused me days of rearranging and is just a big headache. Does anyone know of any kind of fix via firmware to get rid of this 99 limit ??

  • @DjKevski

I have no Idea. I think that is retarded and theres many things I dont like about it. Its a great player but does not work well with Serato which I hate. You cant use all your Denon Effects when using serato.

They need to make one last update what will allow larger hard drives to work with it (which it does but is delayed), remove that 99 playlist limit, and effects should work. That would be great.

  • @DJJ00X I'm now resigned to using my Laptop and Virtual DJ as it works much better. To use 2 of these decks you must use VDJ version 6.0.4 as 7 does not work. Only problem I've experienced is the lag on the platters so scratching is out, otherwise its all good. I'm gonna do a video to show how to set this up. However if you're just doing a 1 hour set you can just use a thumb drive and work straight from the decks. :)

Ive learned to work with what I got. I dont like how Denon just straight up ignored this turntable but its all good. As a prestige brand, they should do a lot more but ill know better for next time.

  • Precision engineered replacement platters for the Denon DNS-3500 and DN-HS5500, the ultimate mod from extrainches.co.uk.

  • wat song is that ?

    Aidonia - Hot wuk

  • @muzicizmysaviour

You can also try it as Hot Fu$k as well if the other doesnt work

  • New firmware has been released of yesterday.

  • problem is u cant hold the platter when u press the button. i did the same thing. and bassl1ne is right. if u plan to do beat juggling or scratching u will have a heavy cue slip problem

  • u have to give it about half a second for the platter 2 catch.

  • These units suffer badly from cue slip, check the Denon DJ forums! Will they ever fix this problem!

  • I've had mine a while now and I don't have any problems with mine, with the lastest frimware V1300, they now work just as well as the pioneer CDJ1000 MK3's i previously had, but do a lot more, buy them !

  • thats not a issue i mean it should be able to be responsive once you come out of the hot start mode. what is it that you are trying to do?

  • I wouldn't call it the bug, because it is just like so, because of non touch sensitive technology - So you can't have scratching control right after pressing hot start button, because this player have ability to use hot start right after spin back, so durring very short time right after hitting hot start, player must ignore unusual scratch disc movement.

For me it's not the best solution when scratch disc is not touch sensitive.

  • you just have to really know your machine, its a musical instrument and you have to know it inside and out. i have a pair of s3500's and they are not without their bugs, just learn em so you can avoid them

  • I just put it up there to let people know what to expect. Outside of the little stuff thats wrong with it, its a very good turntable. I think the difficulty is putting all of the songs on the hard drive because it only accepts certain formats

  • what formats are these that you speak of? i have a deck too, just havent been using it lately since ive been working heavily with dj software on my pc lately

thank god i never intended to use the platter, i always had it turned off during practice with the unit

  • yea no doubt denon makes good products and lemme tell you those little micro bugs are way better to live with than the extra six or seven hundred dollars you would have to pay for a CDJ 1000 which I think is overrated (and I have DN-S3500) check out the DN-S3700 just came out at NAMM they are sick

  • hmmm which ones doesn't it take

  • 320 bit MP3's is standard. if you have anything lower quality one wouldnt want to play it anyways. I made the mistake of buying tunes off itunes and basically wasted tons of money, as their in the ACC format..

  • @HoustonReady2go

Ive learned to work with what I have and dont let things like this get to me. I actually have more issues using serato with it then just using the tt's as is. Serato keeps you from using a lot of the features that made this a great turntable in the first place. I wish it would work more with it. Unfortunately serato was more sensitive to the models that came out after my turntable. I still feel its a tough turntable and not many come close.

  • DJJ00X, this is by design. When a Hot Start is pressed, the platter will not be responsive until it is at 0% pitch. Who wants a Hot Start to start playing at -80% pitch?

Try doing a Spin Back, then hit the Hot Start. The music will play perfect at 0% instead of going backwards.

If the 5500 wasn't like this, then every deck would have a drag start when play is pushed instead of an instant play.

  • damn that sucks. id still take it over cdj
