actually it depends on where your tension headache is. as a massage therapist i found that usualy the cause is the scm (sternocleidomastoid) which aids in laterally flexing the neck (to the side, ear to shoulder) and rotation (oposite ear to opposite shoulder) which also stores tension from clenching or grinding teeth. these tension headaches are often felt on the temporal part of the head. other muscles would be suboccipitals and scalenes which if scalenes are too tight; cause nerve impingement
