Musical taste is very subjective so it's okay not to like DP music.
BUT, it takes quite a TALENT to turn a bunch of samples and sounds using synths, mixers and computers and turn them into something NEW that many people like.
People who belittle such skill are narrow-minded and clueless.
I admire DP as great PRODUCERS (they are NOT djs).
Also, DP has acknowledged that the visuals are important to them as artists. Hence, the amazing light show.

Daft Punk actually have premade tunes before hand, which they then combine then without any plans on stage. Alot of skill is needed to make good mixes like this. Ben Harper already has a song made for him which he knows off by heart and has played it 500 times. The Daft Punk concert's songs are different to their CD's unlike Ben Harper's concert.

I'm a musician & I use to be very critical of dj's and samplers & rarely ever considered them to be an art form until just recently.I love improv on stage, my band Led Zeppelin is the king of improv in my opinion.U have to understand that in order to mix these tracks live every night and do it different each time takes alot of skill timing & improv.If U dont think there playing instruments check out there grammy performance and see the touch screen lemer machines they use.

No, it's not just show. They've explained it as being like a play. When you see a play, it's the same story, actors and general actions, but there are differences night to night. They have computers up there that can change how the mix, loop and distort the sounds. The general playlist has been decided in advance but they are changing things on the fly up there.

What you say makes a lot of sense, and in theory, yes, but in practice no. Perhaps they are changing FX etc up there, but there is no way they can change the arrangement with that light show. Even one bar. I would hazard a guess every show play time is the same down to the second.

My favorite musicians are Daft Punk but even I realize that they take samples from other songs in the same manner that Kanye West took from Harder Better Faster Stronger. I mean, have you ever listened to the album Discovery? Almost the entire album is derived from samples. However, just because someone uses samples in their songs it doesn't mean that they can not produce original and quality work.
daft punk is much better than kanye, in fact they're the best band ever, but stronger is actually a tight song. the best paart is that dp and kanye actually collaborated on the song, so kanye really didn't steal it.
Although, it is important to consider what exactly somebody is borrowing when they sample a work.
A remix, for example, of a current song, you're not only borrowing the music but the listeners as well because they will go 'Oh I'll listen to this remix'.
Daft Punk borrowed from songs which were already expired in most peoples minds. Kanye 'borrowed' when Daft Punk has legendary status around the world. A smart tactical decision, yes, but it is not the same as sampling a song from a decade ago.
Looks like they're amazing live, I'd love to go and see them.
I notice a lot of people recording it on their mobiles in the audience (this video is probably from one too). Personally I'd be focusing on being there and enjoying their performance rather than watching the thing through a mobile phone screen.

My favorite musicians are Daft Punk but even I realize that they take samples from other songs in the same manner that Kanye West took from Harder Better Faster Stronger. I mean, have you ever listened to the album Discovery? Almost the entire album is derived from samples. However, just because someone uses samples in their songs it doesn't mean that they can not produce original and quality work.

daft punk is much better than kanye, in fact they're the best band ever, but stronger is actually a tight song. the best paart is that dp and kanye actually collaborated on the song, so kanye really didn't steal it.
and the a-trak remix of stronger is damn good.

Although, it is important to consider what exactly somebody is borrowing when they sample a work.
A remix, for example, of a current song, you're not only borrowing the music but the listeners as well because they will go 'Oh I'll listen to this remix'.
Daft Punk borrowed from songs which were already expired in most peoples minds. Kanye 'borrowed' when Daft Punk has legendary status around the world. A smart tactical decision, yes, but it is not the same as sampling a song from a decade ago.

Looks like they're amazing live, I'd love to go and see them.
I notice a lot of people recording it on their mobiles in the audience (this video is probably from one too). Personally I'd be focusing on being there and enjoying their performance rather than watching the thing through a mobile phone screen.
