nah...i don't think that's fair to say of mr. Nakamura. the english language is not his own, i'm sure he would love to address whatever questions you have ad-hoc, but it would serve the least expedience given the language barrier...

He took the octaves ascending part from Horowitz (variations sur un thème de Bizet). That has the texture and the architecture of a Chopin's study, well done

About his playing : It's almost jazz.
but i think that of Lizst & Chopin & Ravel too.

I was at his recital last year and he performed this piece too, but the speed was just as fast as this video! Amazing, huh?
