Message in a bottle is the best Police song ever. And with Josh Freese at the drums... Freese is awesome, he's not a metal head that thinks that Double bass-drum is playing well. (Josh Freese can Double bass too)

Freese participated in Sting's "Broken Music Tour" in April 2005 with guitarist Dominic Miller and guitarist Shane Fontayne. The tour kicked off April 1 in San Jose, California and ended on May 14th in New York. Josh also appeared with Sting during the record breaking 'Live 8' concert. In an interview with a drum magazine he would describe this as 'the greatest show of his life'.
is true, can you hear the guitar played in two voices (dominic guitar)tonic and thrid, it sounds incredible, it is sequenced? i dont, know but the guitar sounds like a great video game, i love it!!
Watching Sting without Stu and Andy on stage is as exciting as watching a paint dry. The man himself even can't dare playing his post-Police solo material on a platform like this, because noone gives a tosh really.
Glad to see them Cops having got together recently though. They finally did justice to the money I've paid for that Reggatta De Blanc vinyl back in 1984 or something. One of the greates albums ever recorded.
Jaco died in a bar fight in the 80s, however you all seem to be forgetting Victor Wooten who is the best living bass player hands down, if you dissagree look up his versions of norwegian wood or amazing grace...The guy is a living legend
hey ecurl, i agree with you coz i like both the police and rush, and geddy lee sings at the same time as well. but sting is jsut as creative and made me want to play the bass!
i agree...how dare Sting claim these songs as his own. He should have at least invited Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers to reunite for this incredible invent not only in music history...but world history.
I'm glad they are back together. I saw them reunited already and Sting totally remade the Police songs. Quite a bit disappointed actually.
i'm sure many people would disagree with you seeing that it is that police "sound" that brought them to their fame, not just Sting's talent in writing.
they would not have been succcessful with only sting and a bass guitar. i saw them at their reunion tour and although the lyrics were unharmed, Sting completely changed all the original Police songs to give them the more mellow sound of Sting.
I was not the only one in the audience who was unhappy about that.
Sting's voice is not the only important thing in creating the sound. you would be a terrible musician if you did not incorporate the importance of your fellow bandmates.
so sting wrote the songs, they wouldn't have ended up as big as they were without contribution from summers and copeland. and where would sting be without copeland, who by the way founded the band?
if you didn't know...sting is not the only influential member from the police. copeland is one of the greatest drummers from our time. i don't think sting could create as great a sound if he was playing the drums.
stop idolizing sting and pay some respect for THE POLICE.

Jaco did not die in a bar fight. He was beaten nearly to death by a nightclub doorman and died of his injuries.
Wooten is amazing but lets see if his own compositions stand the test of time.

I'm glad they are back together. I saw them reunited already and Sting totally remade the Police songs. Quite a bit disappointed actually.
vinylcollector16 4 years ago
mmm....I guess he can claim them as his own, seeing as how he wrote them.
Copeland and Summers are equally important in making the "Sound" of the Police but all they are doing is adding to something thats already there.
mart3442 4 years ago
i'm sure many people would disagree with you seeing that it is that police "sound" that brought them to their fame, not just Sting's talent in writing.

I was not the only one in the audience who was unhappy about that.
vinylcollector16 4 years ago
You are wrong there: No matter how unique the sound, without Stings voice, lyrics and music, its just elevator music.
There no denying that Copeland and Summers contributions were massive but no songs, no band.
It really does boil down to that
mart3442 4 years ago
p.s.
you know what's elevator music? stings solo albums. and that has sting's voice and lyrics.
vinylcollector16 4 years ago
Thats an opinon. We are all entitled to voice them
mart3442 4 years ago
and by the way...your comment on Copeland and Summers merely "adding to what is already there" is adding insult to injury.
Stewart Copeland is one of the greatest drummers of our time. Also imagine Message in a Bottle without Andy Summer's famous guitar riff.
vinylcollector16 4 years ago
tell me...how large is Sting's following (as a solo artist) compared to the Police?
Many people want to see Sting not for his Sting songs but for the Police songs which he performs at giant stadiums such as this.
there is a big difference between The Police and just Sting.
vinylcollector16 4 years ago
Yeah, the big difference is Stings songwriting, you may as well ask how many people bought Copelands and Summers solo albums....speaks for itself.
mart3442 4 years ago
read barishman's comment.
Sting's voice is not the only important thing in creating the sound. you would be a terrible musician if you did not incorporate the importance of your fellow bandmates.
so sting wrote the songs, they wouldn't have ended up as big as they were without contribution from summers and copeland. and where would sting be without copeland, who by the way founded the band?
vinylcollector16 4 years ago
By the way, who wrote the songs?
And how many copies of the Klark Kent singles or I advanced masked albums do you own?
You and I have no idea how it would have happened...pointless argument.
