Which hard drive does Apple use in the 2TB TC? I just bought a 1TB TC and plan to throw my 2TB WD Green in there, but if the 2TB drive is the same or better, then I will just get the 2TB one and keep my warranty, lol. Thanks!
Haha - thanks! It was challenging finding a built-in sound effect for the shrink-wrap peel away, but the thunder seemed to work. The camera shutter sound kinda reminded me of Blade Runner..."zoom 24 to 36," *click, click, click*. Maybe I'll sample from the movie for the next video!
So the "time capsule" is a wireless router with a hard disk? I guess for backup reasons. So I could just get a NAS server, attach it to wireless, map it as a network drive and set up automatic backups in scheduled tasks. Presto! your very own time capsule with 1.4TB of storage.
The time capsule part is mac's device naming (and perhaps their software). You really can attach a NAS server to a network and map it as a network drive. Then use windows own built in scheduling to back up your entire disk at intervals if you really wanted to. You dont even need the NAS, you could schedule it to back one machine up to another if you had a large capacity machine on the same network as a low cap one. This device is a gimmick.
I believe Time Capsule only works on a Mac with Leopard installed. Of course, on either platform, there are ways to set up automatic backups, but the novelty of Time Machine is that it lets you easily find old files with a simple graphic interface. The set up and maintenance are also so easy, that even a relatively non-computer literate individual could handle it. This is definitely the easiest backup system I have ever used and, ultimately, ease of use equals security. Plus, it looks cool.
Thank you! It's easier to animate something simple like this, than the iPhone, because I don't have to keep reminding the technician to put it back in the same place when he's through removing each part.
You've fulfilled my feeling to unnecessarily disassembly things. Thanks for putting out these videos :D

Total waste! Unless all you want is to see what the inside looks like. As a disassembly How-to this sucks.

Thanks! It doesn't take as long as you'd think. Once you get in the rhythm of snapping photos, it goes pretty quick.

Though I haven't tried it, I believe the catch is that you can't select a network drive as a Time Machine backup drive.
